    Pumpkin muffin

I was really excited to check out Bigby since they are located so close my home and would be a nice coffeeshop alternative to Starbucks. Alas, I came away disappointed. The iced caramel latte that I ordered left a weird aftertaste. The syrup and the coffee just didn't blend very well. We also got a pumpkin muffin that was just ok. The service was excellent, however. I know the place is new, and I will give them another try in a few months. I will report back here and update my review if anything improves the next time.

This may not be a typical coffee shop as it serve mainly via drive thru. Their little drive thru station located around the same parking lot of Meijer in Lewis Center. I love some of the naming that they have for their specialty lattes, like Teddy Bear and Butter Bear. And I ended up trying the Spotted Owl, and the flavor is mellow, vanilla and hazelnut. The flavor is bold as the coffee flavor really peeking through. And it is slightly on the sweeter side. They also offer Bragels [Bagel sandwich] and some sweet items. One additional thing that they offer that not common in a coffee shop, energy drink.

I've been here twice and both times have had a good experience. I got the cold brew with cinnamon and honey. I got hubs the butter bear. It's not an everyday coffee (too rich & too many calories) but it's a nice treat. The employees have been super friendly and the line goes pretty quickly.

Was really hoping these place would be a great addition to the neighborhood. Unfortunately, this place is not for me. We ordered the hot and cold Pumpkin Spice Lattes and the a pumpkin muffin. Both were equally bad. Both of the Lattes and the muffin left a very bad after taste. I don't know if it's the artificial flavoring or what, but I couldn't finish the latte nor the muffin due to the taste.

(It was freezing inside that restaurant) It was relatively empty The server was nice. Not sure what the delay was. kathy the server said there was a huge take out order that delayed our order and ours would be right out. (Which I feel may have been a fib.... Not sure but my gut say probably.... Why? No one had come in for a "big"take out order, I think she forgot to log in our order as she was distracted with the table next to us that had their former cook there. I could see that easily happening under this situation.) After waiting another three minutes and no food, we were "over" Over the Counter and nicely told her were leaving. To cancel our order. She nicely tried to entice us to stay saying the owner was going to give us a gift certificate... but that just further solidified that they "knew" our meals timing had gone sideways and we had been neglected. We chose to leave and we dont really plan on coming back. Why? The inside seemed old. We saw the kitchen from our table. It seemed disorganized. It gave off a bad vibe. Add our wait. Meh. Like I said Im over over the table.

Everyone from the hostess to our server was very friendly and nice. They have a full bar and a decent selection of beers. My wife and I decided to share their whipped ricotta appetizer and their French onion burger. The appetizer came with thinly cut crusted baguette. The ricotta cheese was mixed with some strawberry flavor. It wasn't bad but I would have preferred it to be thicker in constituency. The burger and fries came out perfectly cut into half portions for each of us, which was a really nice touch. We had asked for the burger to be cooked medium rare and I think it came out more like a medium well. The patty itself was a bit dry. This may be a one off issue and we hope to return to try some other dishes.

Drove through several lots with others prowling as well. Ended up finding street parking right in front of of the joint. Line was not out the door, which was delightful since it was only 4 degrees out, but my butt was just inside right up against the door. By the time I got to place my order, a spot opened at the counter to enjoy the meal. This place is as much of a coffee house as it is a restaurant. I saw 4 taps and was hoping for an IPA, but they were for coffee and teas. Got a Diet Coke instead. Had the Smashburger and the fried rice to take out. The burger was one of the most awesome burgers I have ever had. I don't know what they put in it, but it was just downright delicious. The fried rice was for my daughter's lunch tomorrow, but I took a few bites of it just for quality control sake, and it was very good as well. Unlike any fried rice you have ever had.

It's been a minute since I've been here, and honestly, I forgot how good it is. I went all in with the Chicken Pot Pie Soup, Mama's Meatball sandwich with peppers, and a bag of Zapp's Hot Pepper chips--because moderation is for people who don't love flavor. The Chicken Pot Pie Soup? Well, let's just say it leaned more "cream of chicken" than "pot pie." The crusty topping... I'm not sure what sorcery that was, but it had the texture of something between a crouton and a pulverized Ritz cracker that lost its way. Not bad, just... confusing. cracker The Mama's Meatball, though, stole the show. Delicious, saucy, and stacked like it's proud of itself. The peppers gave it just the right kick. And Zapp's chips? Always a chaotic good choice. Overall, great lunch, great company, and a reminder that Potbelly still knows how to make comfort food without overcomplicating it. Would I come back? Absolutely. Just maybe I'll skip the soup--or bring a pie crust of my own next time.
