Patrons are mostly local but everyone is friendly. You order at the counter and then everything is delivered to your table. Don't worry, staff members come by regularly to keep your coffee warm. Baked goods are fresh and excellent. Recommend the cinnamon roll. Various breakfast plates are available. We did the classic Montana breakfast found everywhere in the early 1980s-- two eggs, bacon, hash browns and wheat toast. It's an awesome plate here. The bacon, thick but crunchy. We came here for a sandwich. We both got the turkey with avocado, pepper jack cheese, lettuce and tomato! Wow! Then the cream cheese kolaches and flakey apple turnover caught our eyes. Fabulous. We started out there but there was a car parked with some roadkill in the grill and that was breakfast for about 100 flies, so we ventured inside. Cute interior. Nice large pizza oven that makes the place feel very cozy. You order at the counter and menu is on a couple of chalkboards. Hubs ordered the feta and spinach omelette ($12) and I ordered the waffleS ($9). His omelette also had avocado and mushrooms, which he liked, but wasn't on the menu, so others may. not like those additions. His food was not hot. He also had hash browns. No toast. I ordered the waffleS. $9. I received ONE luke-warm waffle. A waffle I could have made at home. It had no crunch, just soft. Nothing else on the plate. One 6" or so waffle. That's it. $9. And the menu states more-than-one. That's my interpretation of waffleS. $9 is A LOT for one waffle and nothing else. Coffee was good and not expensive. Wait staff were courteous. This seems to be a trend lately: cold food! Third breakfast place in different tourist towns where we received cold meals. I ordered the spinach and feta omelette. Spinach was uncooked. Feta cold. The onions and mushrooms were tepid. Note: didn't know I would be getting onions and mushrooms in the omelette - not listed anywhere on the chalkboard menu. Lastly, a cold sauce on top with a slice of avocado on the whole thing. I liked the flavors; but it was an individual bite - nothing was omelette like. More like a deconstructed egg with veggies and a ranch type sauce. My wife ordered the waffleS for $9. Mind you, the menu was plural. One simple, average sized, waffle came out. But it was warmer than my medley! Regardless, cute place. Friendly staff. Prices should be revisited: my spinach and feta omelette, with hash-browns, was $12. Coffee $1 per cup with refills; and my wife had the single $9 waffle with no sides and generic syrup. Other than the coffee, prices are a bit more extreme for what is being delivered. read more

What nice people! They wanted us to take our time and look around and look at the menu. We were a little too late for breakfast but lunch options looked great. We bought some pastries and jam for later, and ordered a small pizza and a pastrami melt to dine in. They make their own hoagie rolls which are soft and perfect for the sandwich. A family restaurant is always my favorite and this one delivers. Wish I could have sat in that sunny window all day with my coffee. We are on a long distance drive and needed to stop for gas. Since we were here and hungry, we thought we'd check out Big Timber Bakery Despite the fact that this is a small town, the restaurant was near capacity. My husband and I aren't really big lunch eaters so we ordered Montana Club Melt. We said we'd be splitting it. It came on two plates, both with a pickle and chips. The sandwich was delicious. A great combination of grilled chicken, bacon, cheese, jalapeno, tomato, pickles, and dressing. As we left, we bought a loaf of their cinnamon raisin bread. We haven't tried it yet but it looks and smells yummy. You order at the counter and they bring your food to the table. At first I wasn't getting the connection between bakery and pizza, but after walking inside and immediately noticing the scent of baking bread, I got it. Big Timber is a combination place: part bakery and part pizza, but also part sandwich shop, with a couple kinds of soup, a few breakfast items, and ice cream, Because this is a bakery, the breads (and probably the pizza crust) are the stars. I didn't try the pizza but I did try a sandwich. The pastrami had a slight crunch on the edges of the meat slice where the pastrami had been warmed, or perhaps fried. It was different and good. It wouldn't be for everyone, but I liked it. The roll on which it was served was soft and slightly sweet, complementing the spicy pastrami. I can understand the appeal of this place as a bakery if this roll was any indication. As for the rest of the lunch: the potato chips were awful, tasted stale, and did nothing other than make the basket in which the food was served look full. They could leave those chips in the bag, or wherever they came from. The pickle was flat tasting and probably more for color than taste. For a small place in a small town, Big Timber had a steady stream of people coming in to pick up a carry out order or to get ice cream. I arrived a little later in the morning and there were some cinnamon rolls that looked good but only one or two loaves of the fresh bread. I don't know if they use any of the Montana Wheat grown not too far away for their bread; but it'd be too bad if they didn't make use of the local bounty. Big Timber has plenty of space inside; but there aren't that many tables. While I appreciate the open feeling, it's odd they don't utilize that space. On the other hand, there's more opportunity to see things you might otherwise miss. It sounds odd, but the ceiling in this place is amazing, very old school, early century styling. read more

Husband and I driving cross country to visit our son in Seattle after 15 pandemic months where he could not leave the state nor could we travel. Looking for someplace to eat in Montana that wasn't a McDonalds. My husband had a Reuben made with a generous portion of pastrami on beautiful marble rye (made in the bakery, of course). I had the hot turkey served on a toasted bakery hoagie, topped with avocado, tomato, cheese and chipotle sauce and thinly sliced red onions. Both sandwiches came with a handful of ripple chips and a big old deli gherkin. So satisfying. Staff was helpful and polite. They also had a brick oven pizza making some darned good looking pizzas. I think they run out of pastries about the time the lunch crowd starts coming in; but there was a delicious looking kolache tempting me on the rack. It was a little windy, but the sun was out so we ate outside and they brought our plates right out to us. The icing on the cake was the 10% cash discount that gave us a superb lunch for under $20! We were passing through this little town of Big Timber and had breakfast here.. it's been about a week and WE CANNOT stop thinking about the breakfast here! I ordered the spinach feta omelette IT WAS SO DELICIOUS just outstanding! My daughter had their waffle, it looked so good I had to try it and it didn't even need any maple syrup it was so buttery and yummy! My sister ordered their classic omelette and my husband ordered "The Plate" the sausage and bacon were delicious! I wish I took pictures but really it wouldn't do any justice to how fresh and how much love is put into the meals. We also left with a cinnamon roll, caramel roll and a raspberry chocolate muffin. This place was recommended to me by the people at the rv park where we were staying. What a great recommendation. It was a little late for lunch so they weren't busy. When we opened the door the smell of fresh bakery hit you. All the bakery goods looked wonderful. I have to admit after eating ALL my lunch I got a cookie for the road. Yummy. My husband had a Ruben and said it was the best he ever had. My roast beef sandwich was the special of the day. This place makes all there bread.
