A nice atmosphere. Lots to do. The regular park is there as well as the lake. Plenty of porta potties all around. Plenty of vendors to stroll through and see all the different stuff. Plenty of alcohol! At night there are many people wandering about with glow in the dark accessories for sale. Bring your cooler, your blanket, your chairs, your sunscreen and find a nice spot on the lawn.. and enjoy your day! I HIGHLY recommend staying for the movie that is playing... even if you don't want to see it, because the traffic leaving after the firework show is unimaginable! HAVE FUN!

It's almost picture perfect. We stopped by the Frontier Days Celebration on July 4th. It's a huge event with carnival rides, pig races, food trucks, and a few other vendors. I believe they had fireworks at night but we were there in the afternoon. The event was very organized and there was plenty of parking. I'd say they drew a crowd in the thousands on July 4th. This is a free event and its' really quite nice. Very nice for families with younger children.

I had a coupon for me and a plus one to have a reserved seat for free at the Dell Diamond, and I wanted to take advantage of it. I convinced my buddy to go with me to an opening series game where the Round Rock Express faced the Gwinnett Stripers. We agreed to go on a Wednesday to get our dollar hot dog night on. You know how that goes. Of course, going to every sporting event feels like they are going to nickel and dime you. It's $15 for parking, so if you can carpool, I'd highly recommend it. Beers range from $12 for domestic to $14 for craft. Everything is pricey. The hot dogs still remained $2 the whole night. Selfishly, I ate 5 over the nine innings. I didn't eat much through the day, and a decent ballpark dog was calling my name. As for the actual game, it was over by the second inning. The night was very windy, so no balls had a chance to go yard. The Stripers scored 6 runs at the top of the 2nd and it was 7 scoreless innings for the Express. Ay caramba. The nice gentleman in front of us was at the game with his wife and gave us good conversation. We watched kids rabid for the flying foul balls. Sometimes the game isn't even the most entertaining part because the stadium has a story of its own. The hot dogs were very nice. At a dollar, they could be lukewarm, soggy, and wrinkled, but they were dense, flavorful, and actually pretty good. Sometimes I wonder if dollar dogs are cheaper and they probably are, but you couldn't fool me. They weren't jumbo quarter-pound dogs by any means, but they were a normal quality-sized wiener. I drank a draft of the Love Street Blonde, one of my favorite common craft beverages, and got a can of Michelob Ultra from a very nice hawker that I obviously tipped. I just don't really like Michelob Ultra, I realize. I took a stroll through the Dell Diamond before leaving and there's a lot of cool spots from their yard in the back, which is great for just relaxing during the game, though the view isn't the most ideal for the action (great for bombs though). There's a full bar as well with baseball simulators and TVs showing other games, but if I'm paying money to park and watch a game, maybe that's not the move IMO. Regardless of the Express getting rocked by the Stripers, I had a great time and want to return to more Express games this season. As a young adult, the deals on weekdays are too good to pass up. Thursday might be a move in the future for those $4 domestics, $7 drafts, and cheaper food options around the park. Maybe next time the Express will get more runs than hot dogs I ate. The fireworks show alone was worth the entire trip and wait. It was far better than the 4th of July. In fact it was so good I can't even imagine what the 4th of July for Cedar Park has in store for fireworks. And I'm going to guess that what they've done in the past has been great. Okay, so they had live music all night long. They had carnival game. They had carnival rides. Balloon pops frog toss. The bag slide. The spinner ride. 3 free bounce houses. The hamster ball. Also known as zorb balls. Mechanical bull. Wipeout. Rock wall climbing. Bungee bouncing. Roasted corn. Hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, pickles, funnel cakes. Snow cones, water, soda, tea. A gymnastics show. And a firework show that pretty much just beat all. Everything was almost reasonably priced. It can get pricey with more than one child. Especially if a family of four is wanting to do each event. It's worth doing a couple but for the type of events I don't like forking over too much cash for that. The crowd was more than pleasant. The lines were not long. Everybody was a pleasure to be around. All the staff and volunteers were all very friendly and sweet. Justin nice atmosphere all the way around. The festival lasted from 5 p.m. To 8:30 p.m.. The firework show start promptly at 830. It lasted until 8 53. 23 minutes of absolutely astonishing fireworks. Let's not forget about the kickass park they have. With a multitude of climbing pieces. A slide that will knock you on your butt. And a swimming pool what the water playground for the kids and a slide for bigger kids and adults. My family and I had the time of our life out there today. We got there around 1:30 p.m. And we stayed until 9 p.m.. It was a blast. The firework show im still talking about it. It was just really great. I can't wait till next year. This will be an annual event for us. I wish we had been the last 5 years. But I'm grateful I found out about it and we got to go get here. And I'm very much looking forward to next year.

The display, at many points of the show, did not make it high enough in the air so we were watching the fireworks through the tree line. The people in the lot took parking spaces with their chairs and would not move so people could park in spaces. I'm sure the display was nice if you're at the park but watching from the High School is no longer a great place to watch. Traffic was terrible, of course. The event coordinators may want to rethink telling people to watch from the HS unless they're going to shoot the fireworks higher in the air

There's so much more than a typical Fourth of July celebration; there's live music, attractions for the kids (inflatable balls they can run around inside, etc.) and adults (ride the bull, etc.), all kinds of fair food, hamburgers, snow cones, burritos, lemonade, and various community organization booths. There's a pool on the premises, and the park has a huge open space where everyone gathers to watch the fireworks just after dark. The crowd is very suburb-y and on the whole more conservative than Austin, so my wife and I get some looks when we walk around hand in hand but that's life. It's a great spot to people watch all the families with little kids in wagons, and dogs in tow. There's a lot of parking at the neighboring schools, but you'll still have to come early (probably 6pm) to find a spot. After the fireworks, as you'd expect it's a headache getting home; you'll be in traffic for maybe a half hour, which is still pretty minimal compared to other Fourth of July venues.
