This was my first time visiting & it's by far my favorite thrift store in town!!! The staff were super friendly, the place itself is very spacious, prices are beyond reasonable! There is a whole section of glassware for 75 cents. There is also a section dedicated to Christmas/holiday decor! I love thrift stores like this that have a bit of everything. Spent most of my time in the books section, very organized by types and topics. Also a great section for education materials for younger learners. Other favs are the sewing patterns aisle and the jewelry section in the boutique area. I absolutely love The Caring Place. They do so much good for the community. We just dropped off a few bags of non-perishable food donations via their drive-through and it was super easy, quick, and the staff was so nice. They also accept clothes and home goods. Full list of acceptable items is on their website. The thrift shop is awesome too! Large selection with many sections. Their holiday decor section is huge. Very low prices! Snagged a couple great items and can't wait to return. Parents: they have shopping carts to put your kids in. And 2 bins of $1 and $2 stuffies to make them happy (I just machine wash them). read more

If you're looking for real thrift-store pricing, this is the place! There is a 'boutique' area of higher-end clothing and accessories with higher prices, but still reasonable. I love this non-profit! They have good prices and a great assortment of items for sale in the resale store. All the items are donated and the funds raised go to help the community. They have a food pantry and help with household expenses when you're down on your luck. At a time when Goodwill has seemed to up-charge for everything, this is a great alternative. I donate all my lightly used items here! They also have special events that are fun to attend a few times per year. read more

This non-profit organization that distributes financial assistance for a special group of select people in Georgetown. They are strongly supported by local churches so they won't have to deal with the needs of the locals. Let this be your warning- there is no donate, but they will tell you- they don't recognize your first amendment right and if you exercise it they will weaponize the police against you and you will be banned from the program. The director will tell you while she is on a call to the police. Also, they are known to tell you they can help you, because you qualify, but after jumping through hoops all day with them- they deny you after all, or just pay like $10. They will also lie to you telling you things like, they no longer offer the program when in reality they do. I think they need to be investigated for fraud. read more

I used to shop at this place at least once a month and have always gotten good deals. The prices of their items have gone up. Also, don't buy puzzles from here. I have bought 3 so far that were incomplete sets. They don't give refunds. It's disappointing to almost finish the puzzle and find out that a few pieces are missing. I understand that they are used puzzles, but please don't waste our time and money. Please don't accept donated incomplete puzzles. It's not fair to the customers. read more

As far as thrift stores go, this is one of the largest of its kind that you'll find in the area. Unlike your average Goodwill, where 70% of the space is given towards clothes, here it is only about half the space. As a result, they have a much more eclectic selection of everything. They definitely have a decent amount of furnishings, but not much in the way of electronics. There are 3 separate rooms located off to the side of the main area. One room is dedicated towards books, and another room is dedicated towards Christmas holiday items along with dishware. The third room is dedicated towards a women's boutique area with designer clothes and jewelry. There are definitely some gems to find here at Goodwill pricing, but some items are not in line with goodwill pricing. This place is definitely worth checking out but it does have two drawbacks, not a lot of parking and only one bathroom. Plenty of photos below. read more

I had to move again and remembering the bad experience I had dropping off items with the Caring Place which the Caring Place then sells the donations for profit, I made sure to give them nothing. I gave 2 donations worth alot of money to another place in Georgetown and then did the majority of donations with Goodwill. Goodwill has good hours and it is easy to pull up and I don't get any crap about my donations. Easy peasy. Also Salvation Army has become very picky about what they pick up like no Ikea furniture which they say disintegrates and I had something with water damage that I used in my house that they would not pick up. Anybody moving has to find some one else to move their stuff because Salvation army has become as picky as the Caring Place. It will cost you money to move your furniture to another place for donation or to trash but that is the reality about moving nowadays. I don't care about Caring Place's cause because they treat the donators with contempt. read more

Whoever was working today was an older Gentleman and as we walk in the door to purchase an item that was out front he very rudely tells me and my whole family to leave because it's closing time and the hours are 10:00am - 4:00. So I look at my watch it's 3:54. I realize he may be volunteering but I have never been more rudely treated by a business. read more

Absolutely stay away from this place! I have spent close to $3000.00 in this store in the four years I've lived in Texas. It used to be okay. Recently due to a new job and my four year old starting school we are unable to go until 3:30. As soon as you walk in they tell you they're closing and continue to"remind" you every five minutes. Today was the last straw. A lady went up to my four year old at 3:50, asked if he was buying the toy in his hand, and when he said "I don't know" she turned and asked me. When I replied no she yanked the toy from him and said "Your mommy said no, we're closing, I'm going to turn off the lights". Mind you it was still ten to closing and HE'S FOUR!!!!! I won't spend another dime in this store until they completely change staff. Having worked in customer service for a decade I am well aware that this is completely unacceptable! If they don't have the patience or common decency to treat people respectively they should not be working there in the first place! It's unfathomable to me why they choose to spend their time there if it's so obvious they hate people as well as their job! It's well worth the extra $10 to buy a brand new toy for my child from a store who's associates aren't hateful hags. Zero stars, I'd give it a negative star if they allowed an honest rating. read more

This is an overpriced Goodwill. Their book prices aren't clear at all, you don't know what you're paying until checkout. Also, the front girl jumps on everyone for not lining up in this ridiculous side area for their checkout line and there are NO signs that state to do so at all. Best thrift store in G'town, hands down! The Caring Place is the largest thrift store I've found in the area and their prices are, by far, the lowest. They have 2 boutiques within the store dedicated to higher quality items (brand new designer clothes, and an antique boutique). Prices are low in those too. Wide selection of furniture. Lots of books which are all sorted nicely. Clothing is all organized by type and size. Large section of housewares. Even bedding and linens are all sorted and labeled by size and type, which is unheard of in most thrift stores! Very clean, organized, and enjoyable to shop at. Volunteer run, friendly service. I will definitely be a regular here! read more

Today was my first trip to The Caring Place Thrift Store, and I only had 30 minutes before they closed. I went into the boutique and jewelry section. Gazing quickly checking for any antique broaches or new type I spotted some pearls. On second glance I saw the clasp and knew immediately they were Vintage Akoya Pearls with a 14 KG saftey clasp. Yep, valued with minimum appraisal at well over $900 dollars for $3.00. I will return on Monday or Tues to check out the section I originally went in for and didn't have time too. They do turn the lights off right at close in the entire space, and holler; if they even think you are not aware they are closing. Looking forward to more Fabulous Finds. And for those that complained of good items being tossed out to trash, check out how much goodwill and other places toss out of very good things. I know cause I saw some of my donations tossed at Goodwill, I now wish I'd sold myself. read more

This is probably my favourite thrift store in the area. Stock comes in and out at a good pace, store is fairly large and well-organized, and prices are actually in line for thrift stores (quite a few area thrift stores are high priced for what they are). My favourite things to look for at thrift shops are vintage books and vintage housewares, and they always have a good selection to pick from! read more
