Gyro with toppings

I believe the few poor reviews for this place must have been given by people who had different items than I ordered. Big Star Drive-In in Stroudsburg may be known for it's sweet treats, but today we decided to have a nice lunch on the picnic benches with some beautiful weather. We ordered the Butter Burger, the Gyro, and the fried pierogis. First things first, the Pierogis were simply deep fried and served. This is not to say they were bad, but they were just standard so I will choose to spend my time talking about the items that were hit with some love. The Butter Burger was quite good. Lots of buttery flavor, a quality beef patty, and some perfectly sautéed onions topped in melted cheese. What's not to love? The roll was even better than I would have expected from your typical "drive-in" style spot. I would absolutely order this again without question. The Gyro was solid as well. The Tzatziki sauce was flavorful and abundant, the pita was lightly toasted but still nice and soft, plenty of meat and toppings. If I had to say one thing negatively, I would have preferred a smaller chop on the tomatoes. This size made it hard to eat efficiently. I wouldn't put this up against some of the Mediterranean style spots in town (there are a couple very good ones) but I was definitely happy with the purchase. The cost was pretty standard for what we got and we left happy. Big Star Drive-In - Stroudsburg, PA - Didn't Suck!

You can immediately feel how happy and welcoming everyone is the second you walk in. Even the customers were smiling, chatting, and being kind to each other... it just felt like one of those places people genuinely enjoy being in. I ordered the chicken halal over rice and baklava, and I'm already thinking about when I can go back The baklava situation alone deserves its own review because you get four pieces in an order and can mix flavors. I tried the chocolate and pistachio baklava and both were unreal. Their dessert display should honestly come with a warning because everything looks amazing. Huge thank you to Jorge and Saiyu for being so welcoming to me my first time there. I recently moved nearby, so finding a spot with great food and great energy made me ridiculously happy. Safe to say this is officially going to be my "bring everyone here when they visit" place.

Ordered takeout since their outdoor seating wasn't up yet and we couldn't dine in with the pup. The place is rather small and more like a quick grab-and-go place than a dine-in restaurant. The menu is pretty basic (platters, pitas, burger, salads) with an extensive selection of middle eastern sweets and some cakes as well. I had the "everything" chicken over rice (platter) and it didn't disappoint. The chicken was flavorful and pretty good. My husband leaned into his usual splurge with a double patty burger and fries. He said the burger was very good (and rather large too) while the fries seemed to be frozen fries rather than fresh. We also had some of the walnut baklava, which was just okay. Didn't hit the mark or seemed super fresh. There seems to be only street parking. There are two machines where you can place your order and pay seamlessly with card / Apple Pay. The food didn't take too long to come out either. Solid spot and would return, but the halal in the TRUE NYC just CANNOT be beat, even when included in the name of the business...

We stopped in for a quick bite. The food was served nice and quick after ordering. We got the "You…read morepick two" combos which came out to around $15 each. I'd say that it was rather expensive for half a sandwich (small half) and soup. It was a little hectic around the drink station as they were attempting to refill the tea and people weren't exactly allowing the employees to complete their task. It was also a bit loud in general, possibly due to the season and shoppers being everywhere. The flavor combinations were definitely on point. I had a BLT on a tomato basil bread. It was very good. Unlike some other restaurants, I was pleasantly surprised to find what I consider an appropriate amount of bacon on the BLT especially considering it was half portion. It was well built and fresh. The Broccoli Cheddar soup is a staple here and did not disappoint. My girlfriend had the new dipper sandwich and she enjoyed it as well. Again, the food tasted great and was prepared really quickly. I rate this four stars quite simply because of the cost. I know everything is expensive out there but the prices are similar locally to a sit-down dining experience.
