My order they got wrong (they gave me an iced drink instead of hot) lady making it was complaining about coworkers and working hard while other lady was doing nothing. Evidently she called the manager on someone taking too long of breakers recently. . Remade drink was ok. Limited menu but not told until you order and talking so much messed up order. "Cardamom latte" and "airport coffee" don't usually go together so seeing a local chain in midway is a nice option! A downside is it seemed there was confusion on if we were allowed to use the kiosk or not to order and it seemed like they were out of a lot of stuff or would say something was out of order than working again. I got an iced almond milk cardamom latte with an extra shot. It was pretty tasty though I don't think there was actually an extra shot in there because it wasn't very strong. Loved the cardamom flavor though. Expensive airport prices of course, but not a bad option at all. read more

There were two baristas -- the one taking my order already had an attitude, and the one making my coffee decided to taunt me in front of everyone just because I asked for light ice in my latte. She made sarcastic comments about it being a "happy Thursday" and even said she doesn't like working mornings because customers are "boujee" and ask for too much. I didn't pay to get shitty service. And to make matters worse, the coffee itself was absolutely disgusting. I didn't even want to go back to get it fixed because I wasn't about to be taunted all over again. Not bad considering it's airport coffee! Got a cardamom latte that was pretty flavorful, a nitro cold brew with loads of caffeine and a smooth oatmilk latte. Really fast service, the longest part was pulling a shot. If you want to pay a little more for a local option instead of starbucks, try them out! read more

Everything had a crazy long line, so I was ready to get on my flight with an empty stomach in hopes that there might be more options at my destination airport. However, Big Shoulders saved the day! It's tucked away at the end of the terminal, so there wasn't much of a line. The menu is pretty limited, but they have quite a few crowd pleasers. I grabbed a bottle of water and a egg and cheese bagel sandwich. The sandwich was served steaming hot - to the point where I couldn't hold it in my bare hands! This spot is a hidden Midway gem. Let's start with the basic, which is the coffee is good. After all, you have to compete with Dunkin and Starbucks. I like that it is stacked away just around the corner of the concourse. It makes it easier to get a cup of coffee here and something to go with it instead of getting into the tremendous line at Dunkin' Donuts. They didn't really engage us as we were looking for their best drink. Recently came here before boarding my flight. Now thank goodness I came to the one at the very end of the A section because it's the most quietest one until people realize it's open. Customer service needs to improve and the way it is operated isn't well at all. Prices are high but the quality is low. LOOSELEAF TEA OPTIONS IN AN AIRPORT! Yes, that's right! This coffee spot located in Terminal A surprised me to the moon with looseleaf tea! I am used to rather abysmal tea options (bagged, ground a la Lipton) in airports. I lined up at this spot, and looked for a menu. FInally I found one, and I ordered 1 of their green teas. The barista had little idea how much looseleaf tea to add to the tea filter, so I got a hefty load (enough to brew 1 gallon of tea). I'm not complaining, although for business purposes, they should probably train their staff with how much looseleaf tea is needed for a 12-16 oz. cup. I was simly ecstatic to find a more than decent tea option in an airport. I also got a muffin. They were sold out of the one on the menu, so I got whatever they had. I had a sub par sandwich at another vendor while at Midway Airport this morning so I was in need of coffee since they had none available. I saw this spot and heard good things about them so I decided to try. I should have skipped it. It is near the A14 gate, which is an indication to put it out of sight, out of mind. There was a lady replenishing the fridge with items blocking the line entrance so a few other patrons went around to look at menu near the register. The cashier told us 5 patrons the correct entrance to the line. I informed her that the other co-worker was blocking the entrance to the line. Then she said "I ain't blocking no line. All they have to say is 'cuse me." That should have been an indicator to move on but I wanted to support them due to their cause, mission. I spoke to cashier, no reply; took order & no thank u, no have a good day. Hell even Mcdonald's does that. Would I be back?? I rather do without. read more

Leaving bad reviews at an airport coffee shop feels like punching down, but I can't summon more than two stars for Big Shoulders: One star for serving a small variety of tea, and one star for being a local establishment. As for the solid three star withholding, let me explain. Of the four people working, two were trying and two were not. After I ordered a latte and nitro, the cashier walked away. As the line of waiting customers grew behind me, I waited to pay. Another employee came over after a few minutes and offered to take my order; Employee #1 shouted at her that she was getting ready to cash me out but made no motion toward the register. Employee #2 re-took my order and then waited for #1 to come back to ring it up before moving to the next register to help another customer, an old guy, who asked the seemingly innocent question of: "What is an americano?" Employee #2 asked #1 what is an americano, and a painful amount of silence emerged amongst hose of us in the line(s) as we realized we might know this answer while the folks making coffee may not. A third employee, emerging from the espresso machine, looked incredulous and finally answered: "Four shots of coffee and water." I wish I would have gotten those four shots of coffee, as my nitro was watery and lukewarm while the iced latte was 2/3 full but mysteriously still cost $6. This is the first time I've actively wished to have gotten Dunkin Donuts instead. Big Shoulders, you're gonna have to put some attention into this spot. Train your employees and please at least get the coffee a little stronger. read more

When I see any local place I go so I decided to try this at the midway airport. Nothing glamorous but I had a decent Honey latte that I was happy with. Service was good and price was fair. Location was kind of far from central part of airport so worth the walk if you have time. It is hard to give a place 4 or 5 stars for just a little to go coffee location but I would go back. I ordered a red eye (coffee w/one shot of espresso in it) and It took over TEN minutes for THREE employees to pour ONE SHOT of espresso into a cup, then tell me the coffee is over there...i.e. pour the coffee yourself. Worst hot beverage I've ever had! One sip and I had to throw it away!! I ordered a chai latte, and it tasted like someone has spiked it with vinnegar. My husband had a Horchota latte, and it was even worse, if that is possible!
