Came in for some coffee on a morning. The coffee was cold like I like it this time of year. It was certainly cold brew. I requested sugar and milk. Did the job of waking me up. I read a book while I was enjoying my coffee and when I looked up occasionally you can see a plane fly by because Midway isn't terribly far away.

Sputnik is a clean, spacious and welcoming cafe offering affordable food and drinks to their customers. I absolutely loved the widespread clean tables and friendly staff. You can feel free to sprawl out and study as long as you want without worry. Highly recommend you studying or working here!

5/5 Almond Croissant 5/5 Cappuccino. My husband really liked the Caramel latte and stated the caffeine delivered and woke him right up. Street parking is available. The space itself is industrial and spacious. Limited menu which honestly I appreciate. I was told all their Syrups are housemade. I'm glad we made the trip out to Sputnik. All the staff are hospitable and the coffee itself is fantastic! We grabbed a bag of their beans and are excited to try it!

When i discovered "Sputnik Coffee" when it was still on the W. 51st St. in Gage Park a few years ago, I just thought "what a gem!" The drip of coffee back in early 2019 was a buck and my budget for coffee wasn't ample at that time. Overall, the prices I saw on the menu warmed my heart. I follow "Sputnik" on the Instagram and know that they have moved in a much larger venue in McKinley Park. I don't live anywhere close to the southwest side of the city, but my partner and I took a trip on a Tuesday morning because we didn't think there would be another opportunity to do so with our work and personal schedules. Items are much pricier, but it is what it is with ongoing civilization. They now also have cafe-style pastries and sandwiches. I decided to treat myself a cup of cappuccino. It was frothy and strong. Good thing was that the smoked salmon sandwich slowed down the effect of caffeine, yet I should have ordered one of these nice-looking Belgian waffles as well. The cafe roastery is located on a neighborhood street, across from James Shield Middle School. The tables are spread out, unlike many smaller coffeeshops one find in the Northside. Overall, the place is great for individuals who enjoy a little more privacy in public. I also got myself a souvenir t-shirt. I just love the design and a slight touch of Chicago red stars that were incorporated with the graphics. I actually didn't notice that CTA Western Orange Line station was nearby, approximately 5-minute walk away. However, street parking was what we needed and was quite east to find.

My husband raves about this coffee, but we live in the north suburbs, and it's over an hour drive to get down here. The menu is rather limited, and there's no indoor seating. There was outdoor seating, which was nice for a little while before it got too sunny and we had to leave. The coffee is good. I ordered an iced vanilla latte with oat milk. Be sure to stir the drink because the vanilla is at the bottom. Good thing the coffee beans are sold in stores so we can still have Sputniks at home.

Ate half of the almond croissant couldn't resist. The chai latte didn't disappoint.

Sputnik has been on my list of cafes to try for many years and I finally got a chance to stop by. They roast on site and you can peak behind the register to see all the machinery in action. I had a delicious iced latte which was made perfectly. They also have a rotating menu of tasty looking pastries and some merch with their adorable dog mascot. Service was fast and friendly and the barista let me know their coffee can be found throughout Chicago land grocery stores. Excited to stock up for home!

Edit: I've just come a few weeks later, and would like to add that their matcha is nice (better quality than some other places I've been to recently!) and they also have a wheelchair lift that I did not notice before! Love the accessibility of the place. Original review: Very cute place with nice workers. The inside is really bright and airy feeling, with lots of seating area. Perfect for computer work or just to chill with a book. I definitely recommend the mocha coffee. However, the chai was very cinnamon-heavy; you couldn't really taste the other spices. I also do wish they had size options! Would love a bigger coffee. Either way, I definitely recommend it!

Cool, crisp, clean and huge interior roastery. Fantastic cold brew - small pastry case with yummy raspberry frambuesa. Plenty of parking - reasonable pricing for such a great product. Fun marketing. Owner and roastery onsite. If near Midway airport definitely make a stop. We'll be back!

Yelp led me to the perfect spot for a great latte in the back of the yard neighborhood. The place is tiny and feels like an industrial local roaster in a very authentic way. Loved the milk substitution options. They house make their syrups - went with vanilla and splurged as normally I'll only do syrup if there is a sugar free option. This was worth it . Great little neighborhood gem- highly recommended!

If you are a big fan of astronomy or space. This is definitely the spot. If you don't know who is Sputnik look it up. Recently discovered this cool coffee shop. The cold brew is amazing, Totally in love with it. It is delicious and affordable. This is at the Chicago's historic Back of the Yards neighborhood. The shop is diverse, doesn't matter what you are and how. The customer service there is awesome, friendly and they are super nice. You are welcome to talk to them. Bring pretty awesome conversation. They % friendly. During covid, they were open even in hard time and now they are still open. I like this shop because it has a history, the care and passion for coffee especially cold brew. I enjoy my cold brew there is different, they can add flavor if you want, milk or whatever you need. Best part of the cold brew it's a sip lid that has a cover on top of it. Lifesaver. The food is really good. I enjoy it all. When walking in, they do have hand sanitizer. They do they card and cash. They have an outdoor seating, where you can relax and see this beautiful painting on the wall. Just make you feel that your in a little bit. This adorable coffee shop I would go back again.

One of the best coffees ever. I live close to this place so I'm a regular. I always get the vanilla latte and my husband the mocha with oatmeal. Their coffees are strong and don't have much sugar but they taste so good. You must try their pastries, they are to die for. I always get the pistachio bread and their Beignets. The amount on sugar on top is the right amount. Service is always good, the lady that works there is nice and she makes the best coffee there. They also a small gift shop where you can get Sputnik merchandise. They have shirts, pins, mugs and more. The place itself it's very clean and very hipster. They have sitting outside and inside. Also if you have a dog bring it with you, they are dog friendly. My dog is very welcomed here. It's definitely a hidden gem and you all must go try it.

This place is amazing. It's small and cozy not seating inside right now, but they have a nice little patio. Selection is a little small, but that's okay. I'll definitely be back. Vanilla latte was yummy and affordable. Plus I bought a bag of beans and a cup for home. Made a yummy coconut mocha last night. What a fun spot.

The jibarito was nice and crunchy and the steak was seasoned just right. The Cubano was great! Im always afraid to order it because ive had one taste like too much pork. This is a small sandwich shop on Chicago's southside making some amazing food. First, the food I excellent. I tried the jibarito, medianoche (similar to a cubano, but with an egg) and the tripleta. I liked all them, but my favorite was the tripleta. I loved that all of the flavors of the meats seemed to work together. Also do not skip out on their pastries and drinks. I especially recommend the frappe. Second their food is a great value. I believe that none of their sandwiches are more than $11, with many of their less than $10, and I think, most of, if not all, of their drinks are less than $5. You get a good bang for your buck here. Third, the staff is friendly and service is fast. You order at a window and wait for your food to be ready. I felt that my food was ready super fast and it was very fresh. In sum, this is a must visit hidden gem.

I bravely went for the latin-inspired latte flights, consisting of Mexican mocha, Coquito, horchata, and cafe de Olla. My favorite out of these four was the coquito because of the coconut pieces, which blended well with the latte. I know it sounded silly, but I enjoyed chewing these coconut flakes and they were good palate cleansers! The presentation was da bomb as well. The only reason that I couldn't give five stars to "Stockyard" was limited seating. The place was super cute, but there were only 3 tables and less than 4 high chair seating against the windows, plus some outdoor seating on the pedestrian walkway. The laptop users were respectfully directed to sit at the windows and outlets were available. The baristas were friendly and knowledgeable. I asked the details of the latte flight and they explained the offerings. I thought there was only one type of latte flights, but I believe the one I selected was very much suited to my preferences. "Stockyard Coffeehouse" is accessible via routes CTA 44 (Racine/Wallace) and CTA 8 (Halsted) busses. It's great to have a reliable indie coffeeshop in the neighborhood like this, so keep up the good work!

I am not sure how long it has been Famosa Bakery. I know I've been here at least once in the past 20 years, but I guess I wasn't so impressed as to come back. I decided to give it another try after reading the other two Yelp reviews. The bakery has a "vintage" (aka old) look to it. What I do like about it, however, is that the bakery items are "protected" by glass doors. Another bakery in the area has their cookies and pastries on open tables /shelves were you help yourself. You also help yourself here, but at least the bakery goods aren't out in the open. A couple of weeks ago I stopped in and bought a bear claw and a Mexican cakey-cookie (?). It only cost $1.23 for both items! Joslyn (not sure if I am spelling name correctly) was the clerk and she was very nice. I learned they also sell coffee. Unfortunately, both items were somewhat stale. Since it was only $1.23, I thought perhaps I bought them from a discounted day (or more) old section. I decided I would give them another try before writing this review. I stopped by again today. There was a different clerk, but she was nice also. I was looking at the doughnuts and she assured me they were fresh, so I decided to purchase one. It was 61¢. Not only was the doughnut fresh, it tasted really good. It was far better than any doughnut that I have gotten from Dunkin Donuts--l haven't gotten a fresh doughnut from them in about 25 years. And that is at any Dunkin Donuts. The only problem today was that I wish I would have been brave enough to buy more than one doughnut! It was really good. I will be back and hopefully will be bumping up the rating another star soon.
