I was just told that's just how they work, with no option to decline it. Their pricing is a lot of smoke and mirrors - I asked for their standard hourly labor rate and they said they don't have one. Well, that makes it difficult to compare their labor costs with other shops. There also appears to be a steep markup on parts, perhaps as much as 100% more than what you would pay for the same exact aftermarket parts at retail. The work done was generally satisfactory, (although they used a 23-bolt oil pan instead of the correct 22-bolt part) but their prices are HIGH. And that $85 mandatory inspection resulted in them recommending almost $3,600 in additional services, including every snake oil fluid service known to man. It's almost as bad as going to Jiffy Lube.

Just this year they have also rebuilt the C6 in a 77 F150 2WD and the transmission and transfer case in my 78 Bronco 4X4. I really appreciate them taking care of my classics, but they've also done the transmissions in my Ranger 4x4, Cadillac STS4, Charger RT AWD and more. They have also done brakes, air conditioning, etc. for us. No one wants the expense of a car repair but when I pay for my repair, I feel I've gotten great value and it always comes with amazing customer service. Did I mention that I go out of my way to use them? I live at least 45 minutes away and when I've been stranded, I've had vehicles towed long distances just so I'd have the piece of mind that comes from doing business with someone I trust. I gave them instructions on how to reproduce it, just drive the car on the highway -My car needed a regular service -I wanted to reset a warning light on the dash. They wasted my time and I left with more problems. They told me they would get to it that day on site. Then called me and told me they would not be able to get to it till the next. They don't even inspect it till the afternoon of the next day, and want to keep the car for another day. The next day they told me they were not able to reproduce the sound. I go in and immediately reproduce the sound with a tech in the car on the highway. They say they will look at it. I leave. I come back and they tell me they "aren't a shop specialized in fixing that problem" go to a different shop. Fine, I appreciate the honesty. They give me my car back. I turn on the car. Sound still there, Car regular service timer not reset - Such a simple thing, if they're cutting corners here what else are they cutting corners on? Warning light not reset. I go back in , ask them to reset both warnings. They come back, warning light needs a physical part and they need another part that they want to charge me for ~20 dollars, and for me to wait another few hours. They did reset the service timer. At this point they've wasted enough of my time. I leave, paying few hundred dollars for the service and them having wasted 3 days of my time. I go to a different shop. The fix is so simple they fix it for free in 20 minutes. Also they spam you with advertising texts despite never asking. In summary: They didn't fix any of my original problems, needed me to micromanage them to follow basic instructions to diagnose, are slow and incompetent.
