Brought my car in to replace rear two tires. after an hour of waiting I went to the front desk to ask for an eta. I was told there was problems with my engine and they recommended that I spend another $400 to have it fixed. I declined and they said it would be a few more minutes before they had my tire changed. Another 30min passed and I went back up to the front desk to see what was happening. I was told the tires that I requested weren't in stock and they had to drive across town to their warehouse to get them. Another hour passed and I got my tires. I try to be a patient person but 2 hours and 30min seems excessive for two tires. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Dropped my dually off today to get the tires rotated(dismount and balance because aftermarket wheels). Picked up the truck after hours and they did not rotate both front tires to the back like I told them to do. This was literally the whole point of the rotatio. my front 2 tires had some uneven wear so it was really obvious to tell they did not rotate the driver front to the back. They did on the passenger side though. So pissed off right now they charged me $142 and did not even do their job right. You would think a tire rotation would be an easy job for A tire shop. They have a 30 day warranty which is dog shit and is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard and what's worse is the warranty doesn't even cover parts that failed in the 30 days. They will find problems with your vehicle, that can wait, but claim it's an emergency to address immediately. unreal! ripoff a 20 yr old female!         on june 2, 2020 @approx. 1:38 pm.  my daughter (20 yrs old) went into big o tires 1503 w republic rd, springfield, mo 65807.  ph. # (417) 890-5000, for a vehicle state inspection for $12.00.        about 4:00 pm the same day, i called nick mosher who is an employee at this store.  i asked why my daughter was charged $338.97 for a third brake light for a 2009 mitsubishi galant and a $15.00 labor charge for 2 little screws.  i was told the part was bought from auto zone.  i requested a receipt for auto zone so i could pay off acima (the finance company) and take the bulb/light back and end up paying a third of that through amazon or auto zone.    probably even cheaper than that if i even tried.    nick mosher told me that he did not have that authority and that he would need to contact his manager jason elam and to call the next day.         on june 3, 2020, i called mr. elam who is the store manager and tried again to request a refund for the bulb/light.  mr. elam stated he would have to contact a territory manager mel atteberry and to contact him the next business day.        on june 4, 2020, i again called mr. elam to see what my options were to fix the situation.  mr. elam stated "we have due diligence to mark up parts in the automotive industry and that the same bulb goes for over $500 for a 2009 mitsubishi galant third brake light bulb/ brake light."   mr. elam also told me that they bought the part from lowe automotive for over $235.00.  i told him i found the same bulb/light on amazon for $111.00 and auto zone for $199.00.           a female child goes in for a $12.00 inspection so she can get tags for her car.  bill comes back being $413.36.  i try to teach my kid to do things on their own.  this is what happens?  this would never happen to 45 year old male.  never!  this business doe not care for the customer what so ever.  i tried to resolve the issue 3 times... i was denied all three times.  people need to know that it is not right to mark up a bulb/light that much for their company to make money. read more

I went in for 4 new tires, oil change, and to check my brakes. I was in there for 5 hrs. They kept saying it shouldn't be too long. Never checked my brakes, tire light came on the following day, and it pulled to the right. I called them and made an appt to get it checked . Next appt. I was there 4hrs. They stated I needed a new battery and had me go out and look and it was wet. It wasn't wet before. The whole time I was there almost every customer they had sent out to look at their batteries. (Fishy). Next they said nothing was wrong with the car and showed me an alignment slip ( all green). He states I am done and hands me the keys. When I went outside my car was not there. I went inside he looks around and it is still on the rack (running) he takes it down and states oh this is your alignment slip and there is a slight right issue (see it is yellow and points to the right car diagram) when I get my car another guy states "I didn't know how to turn off your radio". 5 wks later my 2 front tired were completely flat. Super frustrated!!!! Still have tire issues but no money to fix them. But, they stated nothing was wrong read more

Made an appointment for an oil change 2 weeks in advance. Once I got there, my truck sat out in the parking lot for 50 minutes before they pulled it in. Oil change took them 15 minutes. Don't ever go here if you are a female. my wife stopped in today to get an inspection. after inspecting the vehicle they told here that a bulb in her 3rd brake was out and that her windshield wipers where bad and needed new ones to pass inspection. funny thing is they charged her $18.75 to change the 3rd light bulb and $37.50 for windshield wiper blades. I just replaced the windshield wiper blades in November with rainx wiper blades and yet she still needs new ones to pass the inspection. then they went on to tell her that the ball joints and wheel bearings in the front end had a lot of play and that they needed replaced (which I just changed the entire front hubs with wheel bearing and ball joints myself along with new sway bar links this August.) Then to top it off they said she needed a new battery and that it was bad. which I tested myself ( 12.5 amps before starting and 14.3 charging). so she leaves with a $71 bill and she went for a $12.00 inspection and she felt the whole time like they were playing her. so again if your a women. I was sold more expensive tires that they still had to go get from a warehouse and charged me full price for, despite saying they would sell them at the price for the original tires I selected. The whole process took over an hour. I came back to get a free rotation months later. They told me it would be a 45 minute wait. An hour and a half later they still hadn't got my vehicle in and I asked to get my keys back because I was going to be late for an appointment.The desk worker was on the phone and it took another ten minutes for the guy to give my keys back to me, despite being in a drawer several feet away from him. I typically shy away from any type of "big box" type of store but these guys did a great job on my Jeep Cherokee and provided prompt service and did everything I asked and did it correct the first time. I needed to get a tire looked at that had a slow leak and I went up there on a Saturday and they took it off and showed me the nail in the shoulder and offered to put a set on then and there but I wanted a specific tire so I had them order a set (which took less than a day) and came back a few days later to have the work done. I was charged nothing for them to look at the issue (which should be the case but a lot of shops now would have wanted $20 to think about looking at a tool to do anything). The guys were all very professional, did absolutely everything I asked, completed the work in a timely manner, and everything was priced fair. Even though I typically don't use the big guys for a lot of purchases, Big O on Republic Road did a great job (didn't mess anything up, did everything I asked, did an excellent job on the alignment) and I would definitely recommend them to a friend or family member, thanks for the great job and service. read more

I took my leaking tire to this location to see if they could repair it. I spoke with Jason and he did a great job listening to my issues and and resolving the problem. The tire had a previous repair done by another big o tire shop in north Springfield. The tire was still leaking from the plug they installed. However the other big o tire shop would not accept responsibility for the lousy repair job and insisted nothing was wrong with the tire. Jason attempted a repair but was unsuccessful, so he happily replaced my tire with a new one. I was only at the store for about an hour. I wish I would taken my tire to this location several weeks ago. If you decide to use big o tires make sure you go to the store on Republic. You will get much better customer service and the work they do is professional and courteous. Jason is top notch, cream of the crop, pillar of the community. The manager from the other store could learn a lot from Jason. read more

Wife went here to get a state inspection. She called and got an appointment. Was in and out in 15 minutes very smooth. I went as a walk in for an inspection. Was told it's an hour and a half wait. I didn't have that kind of time as my son would be out of school. I asked if I could schedule an appointment for tomorrow. He said we don't do appointments. It's first come first serve. In town to pick up our daughter from Evangel University. 900 miles from home, my car starts to make an awful noise. Big O was recommended by a staff member at the Hampton Inn. Joe came out diagnosed a bad pulley. Left to get my daughter, came back. They put it on the rack so they could pinpoint which pulley. They found problem gave me a price to fix, but said it could make it home. We decided to drive it home. Yes we made it. They were very knowledgeable, very helpful, honest, and friendly. When we decided against the repair, they would not charge us! I offered to pay they said no. I had to drop a twenty on the counter for pizza and run. They were a true blessing. This is the worst experience I've ever had trying to buy new tires. I made an appointment for a Saturday morning at 10:00am. The man I talked to on the phone earlier in the week was suppose to order my 4 tires to be there by Saturday. When I arrived at my appointment time the gentleman checking me in couldn't even find my name. He didn't appear to be able to work their system very well. Once they did find my name it turns out that they forgot to order my tires. Though that was upsetting, I was willing to look at another choice. Now, please keep in mind it was their screw up of not ordering the right tires. They found another tire that was close to what I wanted but not the same price. This is where they really started to tick me off. They didn't even offer me a discount on the other tires even though THEY screwed up. The guy waiting on me thought he was a comedian and kept trying to be funny but he wasn't humorous at all. What really got to me upset was the fact that the manager of the store stood no more than 3 feet from us and had to of heard our conversation but not once stepped in to apologize or even try to make things right. After agreeing to a different set of tires the man helping had to order the set to be picked up. I told them I'd be back before 3:00pm to pick up my car. At around 2:20 that afternoon I get a call informing me that the guy ordered the wrong tires this time. On top of it they tell me that the size they orders were 75R15's and my Toyota 4 Runner had 16 inch rims, so I would need an entirely different tire size. So I had an appointment for 10:00am and they let me know 40 minutes before they close that I have bigger rims than we originally thought. I simply told them to forget it and I'd come get my car. Needless to say I will never go back to Big O Tires again. To me they are more like a Big Zero. read more

My front end was out of alignment and damaged my front tires so I went into the store on Republic Road to get 2 new tires and an alignment. When I was checking out, I asked if I could see the alignment report which wasn't in the paperwork. The guy working the counter told me that it was done "A while ago" and wasn't sure if he could get it. When I asked him if it had been done his reply was "It says it was." I asked him to get the report and it turned out that the person working on my truck didn't do the alignment. While waiting I asked the manager what happened and he said that they didn't read the service information and missed the alignment. He also told me that he was the new manage, had been there a week, and was sent there to correct "problems." It is interesting that they did an "inspection" and quoted an additional $300+ worth of work, while missing what I had brought the vehicle in for in the first place. The manager checked me out and while apologizing about the situation, failed to understand why I continued to be upset. He told me he would have caught it that night doing paperwork and would have called me to bring the truck back in, with their attention to detail I am skeptical of this. I explained that the alignment that was paid for wasn't done, the guy at the counter was prepared to let me believe that it had, and the failure to perform the alignment would result in damaging the new tires. When it was obvious that this guy just wanted me to say that it was ok, I tried to get my paperwork and leave. While rounding up the paperwork he kept stating that he didn't know why I was upset when they had taken care of it and kept following me out the door. This place apparently has been very poorly managed and this incident give me every reason to believe that there is no change in site for the store. Go somewhere else where they will do the work they were paid for and not try and take your money. read more

I usually don't write any bad reviews but I just cant stress enough how disappointed I was on my first visit. I decided on this shop because it was close to my home and I want a shop that I could build relationship for future service and repairs. My vehicle was towed on a Saturday to this shop and was promised that the repairs on my vehicle will be done by Monday for sure. The repairs were not actually finished until Wednesday afternoon. This one didn't really bother me the most coz I understand some repairs could take longer than normal. What bothered me the most is when I check out and pick my vehicle up. The total cost was $800. When I first spoke to the service man, it was only going to cost me $780 out the door. His excuse that he put a different battery information and the total would be $785. As a professional, I didn't want to argue for $5 but the fact that they try to squeeze another $5 instead of the just offering what was promised is what bothered me the most. Its all about principle. I wont recommend this to any of my friends and family at all coz I don't want them leaving that place after any service feeling that they were being cheated. read more

We were taking a long trip so we decided to get 2 new tires, oil change and an alignment beforehand. My husband works in a body shop but doesn't have tires and alignment machine in his shop so he really trusted Big O Tires and would normally recommend them to his best friend, not any more. He warned me that they "always" try to upsell and to call him with anything they say needs fixed. They said our front brakes/ rotors were very dangerously low (drivers side was a 4 and the passenger was a 2). Gave me an estimate of $810.00 to do the work and advised 3-4 hours would need to do it. So my husband originally said to do it... as we were leaving the next morning.... luckily they didn't have the time that day to get them done. My husband checked them when I got home... They are worn a LITTLE but no where near the amount they said. Also, when I was checking out ... I seen they had done a car inspection (for plates renewal) which I never asked for...IT PASSED! Please explain to me how not having a passing grade on my breaks and rotors gets me a PASSING GRADE?!? Not a happy customer at all BIG O TIRES! I was told by break pads and rotors were bad BUT THEY WERE ALSO going to charge me to change the wires, brake lines, hoses and all. My husband clearly stated that this is NOT a 3-4 hour job if it's all done CORRECTLY. I need a HUGE explanation as to why your company is out trying to rob my pocketbook for not only something that doesn't even need changed but to add a ton of extras on the $810 bill that isn't the same thing you asked my permission to do?!? The "main mechanic" is an asshole. He shoves his opinion on YOUR vehicle harshly. I own a lifted dodge with 35 inch tires etc etc. He HATES mud terrain tires and will tell you AAAALLLLLLLLLL about it and will be a douche about it also. Yeah, mud terrain tires are SOFT. They will wear unevenly if not rotated and balanced every 3-5k miles. Mine are uneven and I'm not even mad they are. Tires are replaceable and I could careless at how many miles I get out of them..None of which I complained about. IF I WANTED MY TRUCK TO DRIVE LIKE A GOD DAMN CADDY, MY GOD I'D BUY A CADDY. This isn't even the start of his rudeness.. I was quoted and had appointment for $830 worth of work but after being treated like I was.
