We're about to find out which is it with THIS PARTICULAR Big O Tires location, because after talking to the manager (I WISH I could recall his name!), at THE MOMENT when I pointed out to him--hmm, isn't it "interesting" how you just heard the words "oil change," then you CHOSE TO IGNORE the fact that your store offers TWO OPTIONS in oil changes (either the lower-priced synthetic blend option OR the higher-priced full synthetic option)--NOTE, they just DID AWAY WITH the cheapest option of them all, just a regular ol' oil change, using oil refined from right from the ground!--he more or less said, "Uh oh! He's calling EITHER ["me," the MANAGER] OR ["them," the company at large] out for their decision to just play "dumb," while passively-aggressively choosing the MUUUUUUUCH HIGHER PRICED full synthetic "oil" change! THE MANAGER said, "Have a 'nice day,' sir" and then mid-my response HUNG UP ON ME!!! In other words, those idiots charged my very-broke daughter $114 for an OIL CHANGE on a 2003 Toyota Camry that for 95% of its life span has "lived" on just plain ol' everyday oil! It's a ruthless game of treating us all like fools and then playing out the cynical saying that guarantees that we fools and our money are soon parted! So, again ... which is it, Big O Tires? Does CORPORATE give its blessing to the hired help to exploit the vagueness of people just asking for "an oil change" to UP CHARGE MORE THAN 2X or ... was it a rogue manager who crapped on Corporate's wishes and will for good customer service, choosing instead his own stores profits over honesty, integrity, truthfulness, and all the rest? I've spent the majority of my adult life in automotive related businesses. I ran a new car dealership for 7 years, spent close to 20 working as a consultant for dealerships, and currently work for an automotive aftermarket company. That being said, I know my way around vehicles and automotive repair shops. I have a backup car, a 2011 Chevy that has 72k on it. I had a strange noise coming from my right wheel and as someone who wears a cochlear implant, I couldn't discern between whether it was the wheel bearing or a rotor. Since it's close to my office, I thought that I would go ahead and try them. We agreed on 35.00 to check it, and so I dropped it off. Previous to coming to Big O, this car has always seen dealer service at McCarthy Chevrolet and is always garaged. When I came to pick it up, some fast talking, carnival barker type manager comes up and tells me I need coil packs, spark plugs, and sensors in addition to wheel bearings. Next thing I know, I see my car being worked on out in the bay. Nowhere in our initial conversation did I say "go on a fishing expedition". The law is anything above 10% over the estimate the shop has to call you. Then, I find out that they took it on a drive. Big no-no, I was not cool with that. I told the original person not to floor it, as I had ordered a sensor for it and if you floored it, it went into limp mode and you had to clear the computer. I left, disgusted and knowing that I would not return. As I drove the 10 miles back home, I had to go through neighborhoods, as it would not go over 35mph and the tach and speedo were bouncing madly. The last hill at Clare Road and 119th heading south past the beautiful waterfall, I had more people cussing me out as it was limited to about 15mph under load .This was Thanksgiving 2022 and the car has not left Persimmon Hill since, until a mechanic who is related to a friend of mine towed it away a few days ago. That little excursion that the carnival barker took caused my catalytic converter to go out. Thanks Big O, I will never set foot in your business ever again. Lesson learned: take your car to the dealership, these franchises don't specialize in your car and I don't want to give them the reps on my car. read more

I visited Big O Tires on Black Bob Road in Olathe KS on March 1st, 2025 to get an alignment on my kids 2013 VW Passat. Another tire shop told me I needed an alignment so we dropped it off. The service guy called me shortly after to let me know the vehicle needed more than an alignment so we went back to hear the bad news. My service guy was not there so another shared the news. He proceeded to tell me that I needed inner and outer tie rods, a new axle shaft and that my battery would need to be replaced by the summer. I declined the repairs and took the vehicle to another shop. The new shop told me there was nothing wrong with my tie rods and the alignment was competed with no problem. They also told me there is nothing wrong with my battery and it looks great. I was able to get another shop to replace my torn CV boot, not the entire axle at a fraction of the estimated cost from Big O. This shop also stated my battery is in great shape. The estimate for all the work from Big O was $1,465 for everything they quoted. I got everything that really needed to be done for $350, including the alignment. The most aggravating part of my interaction with Big O is that this car does not even have inner tie rods, it just has outer tie rods. I feel Big O is just trying to rip people off, charge for things that don't need to be done and charge for work that would not be performed. What a scam! Thank goodness I am not a sucker. Shame on you Big O Tires and shame on your lying, thieving employees. You should be run out of town and run out of business. read more

This WAS my go-to shop for years for all things car-related. The service had always been timely and prompt; services were recommended when needed, but I most appreciated that they 'appeared' honest with me - so I wouldn't pay for unnecessary repairs. This was all BEFORE COVID. It's too bad that they were so desperate for business....they lost our family as a customer, and I really have to let people know about it. We took a car in for a simple oil change at the beginning of summer, only to find out that we HAD to have the most expensive kind of oil change and OH - new brake pads were needed, etc. There was a breakdown in communication here at home, so both of those services were approved. NO, we really didn't need THAT oil.....and the breaks had just checked out 9 months previously, so that was a VERY expensive ticket....and then driving home, we noticed sounds coming from the wheels that were never there before -- we took it back, and they told us we would need ANOTHER job done with wheels.....and they wouldn't accept coupon - saying NONE of work done was included in coupon deal. Needless to say, we didn't approve of the EXTRA job on wheels -- car is FINE and now we have a new car shop. I would have kind of forgotten about them, but they sent another coupon in the mail....saying that "they have missed me." That's not how one keeps "friends." read more

Big O Tires has some bad reviews at this location but my experience today was nothing but positive and excellent! I needed to get a screw out of my back right tire that was causing it to deflate really quickly. They got me in right away and estimated time was an hour to get it done...... When I expressed I needed to be somewhere in an hour, they had my car back to me in 30 minutes all repaired. I appreciated the guys who helped me and were very kind & took great care of me today. (one of them was new and in glasses, I didn't catch his name) but very friendly, wonderful service! Thanks Big O Tires! read more

Update: 21-Nov-19 Big O Tires called me shortly after posting my Yelp review. In addition, their corporate office replied to my BBB report. Their corporate office stated the local franchise is responsible for their own pricing, so they failed to take responsibility for operating the website and for disseminating inaccurate advertisements to franchises across the US. I am including a screen print of their BBB reply in this review. At the store, I spoke to a person named Jordon. He agreed with me that the advertisement by the cash register is misleading, implying it is included with their tires. He also said they are required per federal law to change them out each time tires are replaced. He said he couldn't understand why their corporate office failed to take accountability for their own website, because local stores have absolutely no control over making changes. Jordon also confirmed corporate is responsible for sending out the advertisement that was next to the cash register. Jordonstated he would get back with me about the refund. I have e-mailed him three times now at the e-mail address Jordon provided. I have yet to receive a reply and the account has not been credited. Prior to this experience, I had rated the store 3 stars. I am now downgrading the rating to 1 star. I have also filed a complaint with the attorney general's office for false advertising. 31-Oct-2019: We recently purchased new tires for my husband's 2017 Subaru Outback. It was between this location, Discount Tires, or Tires Plus. We decided on Big O Tires primarily because of several rebates: a $70 instant rebate, a $50 rebate if purchased on their credit card, and a $60 rebate from Yokohama. I first shopped on their website for tires. The website advertised a $70 instant savings on tires they have in stock. The problem is none of the tires we considered were in stock. When this was addressed with the store, they stated they know it is a problem, further saying just about every tire has to be ordered. They said their corporate office is not fixing the problem but they have been honoring the $70 discount. The website also doesn't list out pricing for alignments and requires that the customer directly contact the store. They also have a sign by the register that states the tire pressure monitoring system is included with tire purchases. They aren't. They actually charge $9.99 per tire. Now obviously, this is also a problem with corporate advertising. So I have filed a complaint with the BBB about how they are advertising products on their website and at their store. I have included a picture of the advertisement. Other than those issues, the service we received at the store level was ok and the employees were friendly and fairly knowledgable. But I wasn't horribly impressed when they tried to sell us on an unneeded break service, flushing transmission fluid, and several other services that had either been recently completed under our service plan with Subaru or recently checked at the Subaru dealership when in for service. read more

I should have read the other horrible reviews before using these guys. A few weeks ago, I took my Toyota Venza in for service. Set my appointment online to save time (or so I thought). When I showed at the appointed time, they couldn't find any of my info and had no record of my appointment. They were very unenthusiastic and kinda acted like I was annoying them by coming in. Got the service done, and also got an unsolicited estimate for new tires, which were very expensive, so I passed. Fast forward to 1/7/19. I figured I'd try this place one more time. Scheduled another car, my Honda Civic, online on 1/6/19. My appointment was for 08:15 AM the next morning 1/7/19. I called at 08:00 AM to advise that I was in backed up traffic due to an accident, could they work me in for 09:00 AM? The guy who answered said "You know, this is going to put me behind for my next appointment!...." No further dialogue, just complaining without a solution. So, I said "So, what options do I have here?". To which, he said "...sigh...the best I can do is 3PM". I had enough of the poor service between these two visits, so I advised him I'd be taking my business elsewhere. Just around the corner is Maurer Tire Co. I called, and they worked me in right away. Was a loyal customer since they came to KC, with 3+ cars, well I am done and will be taking my business elsewhere. Had appointment at 3pm for oil change. I got here early. Waited 50 minutes before they got it in. I came here a month ago for a tire repair. Got tires at another big o. Guy said he couldn't fix tire. I said I had the road hazard insurance. He said he couldn't find it. Said he called the other store where I bought them and they wouldn't give him the info. I came back to pick my car up and he Said he just went ahead and plugged the tire even though before he told me he couldn't. I am worried that if I have another problem they will void the warranty because it was not supposed to be fixed. Haven't had good experiences at either of the stores I have been to. Also I asked them to top off the radiator and brake fluid. The service writer said no problem. I went to Big O over the weekend and got new tires and also had them do the following fluid and filter services Oil,Transmission and both Differential as I have a 4x4. The work performed was completed and I went home. Later that day I went to use my truck again and noticed that when trying to shift into Drive my linkage was binding. I called Big O back and told them I had a problem and they asked if I could bring it back in first thing the next morning which I just did. After looking at my truck they said nothing was leaking so nothing they did was the cause. I was informed by Gabriel that if I wanted to have them do another inspection I would have to pay for it. I just spent over $1400 and didn't have this issue before they did the work but now I have to pay more to get it fixed. I don't think so.I was not complaining that the work they did was bad only that the linkage needed a adjustment. I am very unsatisfied with the so called warranty. If any issue means you have to pay more money what is the warranty and extra warranty they sold me really worth. This was Location LOCO5 on 119th st and Black Bob in Olathe,KS. Bought tires a year ago along with an alignment package Tires have been fine. However when taking it in for an alignment and oil change last Sat. Within 20 mins of dropping it off they called and told me the front brake pads and rotors were a safety issue and needed to be changed out. I asked what it would cost and was told 522 dollars but they could get it down to 482. I replied very emphatically No. Picked my car up a couple hours later. The oil had been changed I have no idea if the alignment was done. I was going to put brakes on myself the next day but upon taking the existing brakes off there was slightly more then 1/2 the pad worn off. The guy tried to up sell me to a synthetic oil change...which I didn't have a problem with, but I asked for more information on why and the service manager, who was standing behind the man I was speaking to said if I was questioning their recommendations then I could go elsewhere. What?!? I responded that I just had questions and he said "I can refuse service to anyone who questions me". I left. I am a management consultant with an MBA. I called this location to get a price to mount my new wheels (that I got online from a different website) and I got the price of $24.99. Once I was at the shop and ready to accept the invoice, it was $30 per wheel, and the increase was due to them needing to transfer the TPMS from my old wheels to my new wheels. I didn't think that little work would warrant a price increase, but I didn't really care, it is what it is. The bigger issue was that the wheels were supposed to be mounted and balanced. Upon getting home with my new wheels on, after the car experiencing quite a bit more vibration, I realized there wasn't a single wheel weight on any of the wheels. When I called the shop and asked if they were balanced, I was told "we use a static wheel balancing machine so it should be good". Very incorrect... doesn't matter if you use a static or dynamic balancing machine, there are still weights involved to completely balance the tires on the wheels. Overall experience was a bit stressful and I didn't feel comfortable bringing my car back to that shop. Save yourself a headache and if you have any wheel and/or tire needs, head to KC Trends. You may pay slightly more, but your mind will be at ease and you'll be taken care of by friendly and competent staff. read more

I took my vehicle into big -o for an oil change Saturday around 11 picked it back up at 3 when arriving to pick up my vehicle I noticed it was backed into a parking spot and not pulled in witch I found strange but didn't think anything of it at the time returned home and parked my car in the garage!!! 2 hours later was taking my wife out to dinner went to get my Mustang and noticed a huge dent and hole in the back of my car on my bumper like they backed into something!!! They closed at 5. So I returned the next day and spoke to somebody named Dakota this guy is the biggest ass I asked him if there where cameras and he told me no what kinda company like this dosent have cameras and then I asked him what the area managers name and phone number where he just have me a name no number!!! The poorest service I could have asked for. I went in for a simple oil change. The skid plate cover was not properly put back on my vehicle. It started dragging as I was driving and came off of the vehicle obviously damaged from dragging. When I called the store and talked to the manager Nick, I was advised to bring it back in. I was not close to that location so he told me to take it into the other Olathe location I was close to. I took it in along with the broken off part. The manager looked at it and told me he couldn't refund me and that I would need to wait at least an hour for them to get it back up on a lift to inspect...NOTE, I HAD THE DAMAGED, BROKEN part in my hand so it was obvious it hadn't been properly secured back on my vehicle. All I asked for was my $80 back for a piss poor job that was done. I will NEVER return for service or purchases at any location. I would recommend finding somewhere else for service as apparently a simple oil change is too much of a challenge for these technicians. read more

Absolutely horrible! Called on Thursday to set my appointment up for Saturday at 10am. They had to order a tire and it was to be in on Friday afternoon I was told. Go in at 10 and NO TIRE. Was told they have another one at the lenexa store and would go get it. Told them I would come back at 1230. Came back at 1245 and the tire was was still not there. Was told it would be another hour. I have 3 kids and things to get done on a Saturday cant spend my time coming there 3 times in 1 day because you cant get it right the 1st time. Just absolutely unreal! read more

I had an oil change and tires rotated at this place. I had scheduled an appointment for 9am on a Saturday and don't think they started working on it until 11am. Guys in the shop looked like they were on drugs. Constantly going back and forth in the garage like they forgot something. Anyway, I finally got out of there around 1pm. 4 hours to do an oil change and tire rotation! A few weeks after, I noticed one of my tires were low on air so I went to put more air in it and noticed one of my lug nuts missing. So I went back over to the shop and asked if they had accidentally forgot to put the lug nut on and if the person up front could maybe check if it was possibly in the back. No its not back there was his answer. Lug nuts fall off all the time. I really didn't know what to say to him but I know after that experience I will never go back to Big O Tires for any work. I have no trust with their workmanship or management. Its been now about 4 months and I went to Jiffy Lube to get my next oil change. They told me and showed me the oil plug was completely over torqued on and stripped. Not sure what Big O Tire did but again its one of those things you cant argue about with them and shows me how incompetent they really are!! read more

After checking the Big O reviews and prices online I booked an appointment to have new tires installed through the website. The next morning I received the attached confirmation advising that my appointment had been approved. I received a call from Jessica at the Olathe store on Blackbob yesterday morning advising that my tires were in and that she could fit me in during the afternoon, so I agreed to the new time. I arrived for my 4pm appointment at 3:30 and was greeted by a gentleman that seemed to have no idea what he was doing, but I let him know that I had an appointment and that Jessica had set it up. He asked what kind of tires I wanted and I again referred to my appointment and that Jessica had ordered Nitto Ridge Grapplers to be installed on my truck. He then asked if I meant the Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 as that was the Nitto A/T tire that he stocked. I again told him that I selected the Nitto Ridge Grapplers on the Big O website with my appointment, I showed him the attached appointment confirmation which clearly shows Nitto Ridge Grapplers and that I had already discussed this with Jessica. He went and found Jessica and then came back and said that we were all set and that it would take around an hour to an hour and half to complete the installation and alignment. I came back in an hour and half and the installation was not completed so I waited around for another hour and half...3 hours in all. They finally finished, I paid and then they brought my truck around. After looking over my truck I noticed that the Nitto Ridge Grapplers had not been installed, but instead they installed the Nitto Terra Grappler G2's. I asked Jessica about it and she tried to tell me that they were the same tire and that the G2's were just a newer version of the Ridge Grapplers. I let her know that is not the case and that I was at Chux Trux a couple of days earlier looking at their Nitto Ridge Grapplers and I only came to Big O because of the reviews and prices. She then tried to explain the Nitto Ridge Grapplers that Chux Trux carries are manufactured by a different company than the Nitto Terra Grappler G2's that they carry and refused to help me in any way. She said to come back if I have any problems with the way they drive and shut the door. I sent a message through the Big O website yesterday, but haven't seen a response. In addition to the bait and switch that they pulled and the poor customer service I get in my truck this morning and the tire pressure reads 4 completely different numbers...38, 41, 45 and 53. I wish I would have seen the reviews for this specific store versus Big O over all...maybe a great company, but this store is the rotten egg! read more

In April 2019, I had Big O rotate the tires I bought from them. My car was very noisy. I live about 300 miles from that store and was driving back and forth for cancer treatment and surgery. I did not buy the waranty for the alignment they did when I purchased the tires. Immediately after explaining my problem to Eric at the store, he adopted intimidating posture and told me they would check it out and see what alignment package they would sell me. I told him the problem was caused by Big O. He continued his "success by intimidation" attitude. I asked to speak to someone else. I phoned my son and told him what was going on. They checked my tires and said "they felt choppy". They checked the alignment. When the Assistant Manager, Robert, came to talk to me, I asked if we could call my son, so he wouldn't have to repeat himself & I wouldn't have to try to explain. We called my son and they had an argument. Robert refused to take responsibility and my son told him he needed to make this right. When Robert gave my son the number of the Customer Service Rep and they hung up, Robert became Verbally Abusive to me. I hadn't said a word to him. But I didn't back down. He snarled right in my face saying I had driven over pot holes to throw my car out of alignment. I am 73 years old. The most miles on my car highway miles from my many trips for treatment and surgery. I finally asked him why he was being such a jerk about this. He demanded I leave the store and wait for my car in the extreme heat. I told him I was not going to wait in that heat. He started to come around the counter, but another customer came in. I did not raise my voice at any time. I felt afraid for my safety. No one should ho through an experience like this. read more

Got the tires changed pretty fast

I took my car in because i had a nail in my tire. When I scheduled the appointment they never asked me what tire I had to check it to see if they had it in stock so when I showed up to my appointment they told me they didn't have the tire in stock so I had to come back the next day which was inconvenient. I ended up needing s new tire asked them to also do an alignment and as I was watching my car get serviced I noticed that when they were done with the tire they pulled it out and parked it and it never went on the alignment rack. When I was checking out I asked the guy that was helping me if the alignment was done bc I didn't see it go on the alignment rack and he told me yes that it was done and that if I had any problems to bring it back. Well I work at a dealership and was able to do an alignment check on my car the following Monday and in fact it had not been done so now I have to take it back again to get an alignment done that they said that they already did. Its ridiculous that i have make 3 trips when this could have been hamdled in 1. I will not go back after that. Ever. read more
