I hope I'm reviewing the right store. I'm reviewing the Big O on Fairview. On our way to Boise we had a tire completely fail. At 80 mph it just came apart. I decided to get all 4 tires. The "Black Friday" deal was good and at the perfect timing. I appreciated that while they were installing the tires the technician noticed a couple things on my truck that need attention. To Whom It may Concern: HI, The time it took for your crew to do my simple oil change and simple tire rotation was CRAZY ... My truck was in the service bay over 2 Hrs... I'm a 73 yrs old man, I could have done 3 of those in that time span even at my age.. I've worked on cars and in service stations since 1966 to late 70's.. If I worked that slow I would have been FIRED.. Whats was it with them doing the oil change on the floor and with a creeper???? and the tire rotation with a Floor Jack???? Are they that much UN trained??? My Truck was pulled inside in a car hoist bay.. Just using that would have or should have cut there time in more than half???? and they moved so slow it was STUPID... I had an appointment today at 5 p.m. to get my tires rotated. I showed up at 4 :46 p.m at the front desk and told the associate that I had a 5 p.m. appointment. He promptly told me that he could not honor my on line scheduled appointment and that I would have to reschedule after driving for 35 minutes to get there. Luckily I had a printed copy of the appointment and he took it and quickly handed it back to me and said they would not honor it as they were too busy and close promptly at 6 p.m, and it wasnt even 5 p.m. yet. I then asked to speak to the store manager and again he rudely told me that the manager wasn't there and that he was done discussing my issue with me and immediately ignored me and would only stare at his computer monitor with no more resp onse. He was very rude and disrespectful and clearly hasnt a clue or comprehension of who keeps him in business. I left this store after being a loyal big o customer for decades (many other locations) and will never return to the store on 7199 W Fairview in Boise again. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS STORE. car was not driving as it should, took it to Big O on Fairview off of Cole and they found the brake rotors were warped. they had me call the Big O on Fairview in Meridian to see if they were still under warranty. they informed me I just missed the two year time frame and it would cost me $400 to get new brakes. this Big O (Fairview & Cole) said my brakes were good and they took the rotors to O'Riley and had them do some magic and reinstalled them at no price whatsoever! not even labor! they cared about doing what's right and the other store couldn't care less! this is a place worth going out of your way to support. read more

I got towed here because I had a blow out. They were so helpful and I purchased 4 new tires. They had me back on the road very quickly.

Purchased tires on their website two days ago, and set an appointment to get them installed today. Or so I thought. Even received the confirmation email from them. Arrived at the store, and they could not find my appointment. After some digging they were able to locate it, but said they didn't have the tires in stock and could only get them from Florida, but I would have to pay the freight charge. Said that he called and left a voicemail to tell me, but of course I never received it. Their solution? Sell me a pair of Big O brand tires instead, at a $300 premium over the ones I ordered. They even snuck in the extended warranty into my original quote, which I had declined, in order to make the price comparison closer. Attitude the whole time. Basically not his problem. I was told my front breaks were paper thin and should be replaced asap for $600. Took my car to another place and they said my breaks were at 20%. They gave me an estimate to fix them for $300. Not only did Big O try to tell my breaks were done when they had 1/5 of their life left, but they also tried to rip me off. This has got to be the worst Big O experience I've ever had. I brought my car in the get new tires, new brake rotors/pads, an oil change and transmission fluid dump and wheel alignment. All in all I was quoted just below 1k. No problem, I came in early knowing it'd be a lot of work, and wanted to be first. I tell the guy over the counter that I have my own rotors and pads in the car would they be willing to install a 3rd party part? He says yeah no problem. I head home, I'm told it should be ready around 2pm so comes around 3 I give a call to see eta. Say this will give me a call back in 15 mins. An hour goes by I call back, and I was told just come right before we close. I pick up my car and drive it home, the next time I drive it to work the breaks sounds like a screeching train horn. I come back immediately as it was a wretched noise, and embarrassing every min I was driving. Turns out whoever did my breaks did a horrible job because the front two tires had the rear wall rubbing against the rotor. I was told I'd have to come back because they were so slammed, me kinda upset because the amount I just spent for a job well done, and the possible wear and tear on my vehicle he sends someone to try and help. He only took off one wheel to repair. The driver side still sounds like crap. I look at my invoice that day to find they never used my rotors and pads and charged me for theirs, completely contradicting what I was told. Then to realize my alignment is worse than when I first dropped it off. I feel I was truly scammed, except for the tires and hopefully they truly did my oil lol. I had been a customer of this Big O location for long time. It is now under new management. The workers are good, but the new management is not in touch with its customer base that the old management worked so hard to build. I recently came in to get my already mounted snow tires changed out. The old company used to change these out for free as a service for people buying their tires there. This policy is no longer in effect. It now costs $100. I called around after this experience and found no other tire shop has this policy. Most still do this for free. I suggest looking around for your next tire service. This location is not what it used to be. read more

TODAY I "dropped in" for a first Tire Rotation. I purchased the set of new four tires here in April 2022. Took them 3 HOURS! Time in: 11:15AM Time Out: 1:54PM And... now they CHARGE YOU $29.95 for a simple tire rotation. I said I had NEVER paid before...for years and years as a loyal customer. Noah Weissen (new Management) replied: "Yeah, Tim never charged for many services, and he didn't run a profitable business. We charge now." Tried to sell me a Pro-tec+ Tire Protection Plan (ROAD EMERGENCY tire contract) ...only $121.68 "Pays for itself after four rotations!" (Nope, sorry I'll pass). When my vehicle was returned the tech forgot to complete a "pre-trip" checklist. So... he had to do it again. Back in the chair for me for another 20 mins. And, the steering wheel and shift knob were greasy and dirty. Was not cleaned by the technician. I left with dark dirty hands after only driving about 3 mins. They also didn't place any floormat placemat covers down upon service (which they had always done before, but not this visit). Technician: Nick Salazar "NS" I was happy with the end result (tire rotation, pre-trip check, and tire zero balance verifications); but c'mon THREE hours??? Probably switching to Les Schwab instead, who I've used before and was also pleased with. I suspect this shop will lose a large number of long-time, repeat customers IF they don't change some of the new practices. Seniors will not be too excited to pay for basic services that they were provided for "no charge" for years before. That's how you do business, and we'll pay for what needs to be done. But I won't be "nickel and dime" charged for simple services. Not sure if they now also charge for tire pressure checks and inflation/flat repairs, etc.? So... take your vehicle somewhere ELSE. I am used to leasing a new car every 3 years and have been doing so since 2004. After the Snow-Apocalypse of 2016 I decided to ditch the VW which did not do very well in the snow for something a little less low to the ground. I got a Honda and have been pretty satisfied with it thus far. It's a used car, so more attention to the upkeep and care of it is critical so that it will last me for years to come. Well, the first little boo boo happened last month.....and I blew a tire. I went to this BIG O' store on Fairview in Boise and they were so very friendly. They greeted me at the door with a smile! They were all very knowledgeable, helpful, informative and quite quick! Tonie was so sweet and she told me that although they were busy, they would squeeze me in on my lunch hour! They did and the tire looks great! Thank you! This week my oil service light went on. I called and they answered right away and Tonie said that I should go ahead and bring the car down on my lunch, and they would do their best to get it in asap if there wasn't a big wait. I dropped off the car and they gave me a ride back to my job!! When the oil change was finished (which was in under an hour), they called me to let me know that the guys were coming with my car. Then within 5 minutes of that call, I got another call from Tonie and she let me know that one of the techs was following the other tech and the one following noticed that I had a burnt out brake light, so he turned around and brought it back to the shop to replace it for me! Strike 1: I didn't receive a call that they'd been finished for half-a-day until I called them. Strike 2: The wipers weren't put on when I was paying. Tim tried to sell them to me 3 more times after he screwed up the first sale, obviously not catching the hint... STRIKE 3, could have seriously injured me and the vehicle if I hadn't caught it. Crazy vibration at highway speeds, but nothing lower, so it took me until yesterday to notice, because the highway isn't on my way to work. 04/30/2016 The thing that makes me angry is the lack of integrity someone, or a company, may have for their job, workmanship, and human life, inevitably. I recently (within the last two weeks) got new summer tires put on the Speed3 and I had a bad 'first' experience with Big O Tires on Fairview in Boise. And by bad, I mean I wanted to yell at the guy initially for horrible customer service and all-around not caring, and now--I wanna hit him. And I don't really wanna stop at just him, but the shitty tech that balanced my wheels. I was driving with Klipfel yesterday, Speed3 and Subi STi style and I noticed a horrible wheel shudder after 60 mph. So, not wanting to take it back to the crappy Big O, but not wanting to pay for shitty workmanship, I took it to the Big O on Broadway. I explained it. I said what I thought. The passenger side is out 3/4 of an oz. THE DRIVERS SIDE--wasn't even there. The tech says, "dude... There's a clean spot where the wheel weight was, but it's nestled in dirt." They refused to repair or replace it even though the paperwork says "free flat repair for the life of the tire", instead I was given every excuse in the book so they didn't have to cover the tire, Tim told me I have to pay for a new tire. My back passenger tire blew out on the freeway in Wyoming on tires that were not even a year old. The Boise Big O on Fairview stated because I didn't purchase a separate warranty that they wouldn't replace it for me, even after a call the day I brought the tire in and they said they would. Instead of honoring my manufactures warranty they went as far as LYING to my face that it had a nail in the tire and it didn't so they wouldn't be responsible to help me. We nearly rolled on the freeway at 80 when the tire blew. REALLY my one tire was the difference for this corporation in sales for the day and they couldn't help me even when I escalated it to corporate in Florida they continued to lie to avoid helping me. I bought new tires and wheels last year over 3000 bucks and I have a rare tire size I can't just go buy a tire somewhere and replace. I have a 2015 Kia Soul. I accidentally drove too close to a high curb and scratched one of my low-profile aluminum alloy wheels, which proved to be a costly mistake. I ordered a new one from the dealership for $427. Although the service guy at the dealership told me they put on new wheels all the time without scratching them, they scratched mine in the process. I didn't notice it until the next day because the car was delivered back to me in a poorly lit garage and was wet from the rain, but I caught the problem the next day when I say my car in daylight. The dealership wanted to "fix" the scratch for me, but I insisted they order me a new one because if I had wanted an "almost as good as new" wheel, I would have had Hubcap Annie's in Meridian refinish it myself. While appreciative that the dealership reordered the wheel for me, I wish the service guy who scratched it would have owned up to the error, rather than wait for me to discover it. Either way, I felt it best to seek out someone else to put my 2nd new wheel on, someone who has a lot of experience with wheels and knows how to do it right the first time. I called Edmark in Nampa, the dealership I bought my Kia from, which is not the Kia dealership that I ordered my new wheel from (the ones that scratched it). I told Craig in Service my story. Although he felt pretty confidant that his guys could put on the new wheel without scratching it, he suggested that since I had already had a bad experience and lived in Boise, that I consider taking it to Big O Tires on Fairview. He said that prior to working for Edmark, he worked for a shop that did a lot of business w/ Big O Tires on Fairview. He was highly complimentary the owner Tim, who he described as "honest as they come" and the people who work for him. He said that he had recently referred someone with a Corvette (those wheels are $800+ each). Long story short, I took my car to Big O's on Fairview. I was introduced to James Yanskey, who I was told was meticulous in his approach to all things tire and wheel-related. Indeed he was! Prior to working on my car, James asked me to show him the scratches, so he could take note and avoid making a similar mistake. After taking a look, James assured me that he could put the wheel on properly and told me that he even had a special tool that would prevent scratches around the lug nut area. James did an outstanding job and the cost was just $13-15 (dealership charged $20). In addition, he told me to come back after driving it for 50 miles so he could check the torque, and then for 50 miles after that to do the same for the final time. He explained that this was because sometimes there is an adjustment period with a new wheel in which the lug nuts can loosen up a bit. This is something the dealership did not inform and/or advise me of, which probably explains why my drive seemed kind of "off" after I drove for a while on the wheel they put on, though I think it might also have been that the dealership didn't properly balance the wheel at the time. There was no charge for the two follow up visits to check the torque and each check took only a few minutes. In addition to James Yanskey's expertise, I was also very impressed with the treatment I received from the individuals at the front desk. I never met Tim, but with a team like this you don't have to be in the shop every day to know things are being done properly. My takeaway from this experience is that if you want a job done right, you're best off going to a professional/service provider who specializes in that area and who does it all the time. Service here is good not the greatest...i brought my car to them because my brakes needed fixed they later called me saying it was the brakes and sway bar 700 dollar fix so I had them do it I drove it for a week and the brakes were squeeling super bad took it back they tightened something on the rear brakes drove it for two more days and same thing super squeeling so I took it back again and they put new pads again...get it right the first time not going to this store anymore and I will not reccomend them to anyone big wasted of time and time is money read more

BEWARE!!! THIS IS A BAIT AND SWITCH OUTFIT!!! I called to get a quote to replace my brakes. They gave me a reasonable price and said to bring it in anytime. "No appointment necessary, first come first serve." Originally called on a Tuesday but had to wait until Friday to get off work. So, on Friday, I called again to confirm availability. I was given the same price as before. Simple right? I gave the year, make and model and asked how much to replace brakes on ALL 4 WHEELS. 15 minutes later I showed up and they changed their tune. Now the price would be more than double the original quote!!! The person I dealt with went from pretending he didn't know what I was talking about to flat out arguing with me in from of the staff and other customers. Beyond being rude, it was embarrassing and frustrating because I had called twice to confirm everything and taken the day off of work. I was planning to get the shocks and tires replaced and bring my other vehicle in the next week for all of the same services, but not after the way I was treated. Friendly advise to the owner and staff; if you treat a customer right, it usually leads to more business in the future and positive referrals. read more
