It's a dive bar with regulars, short handed service, cold Coronas and amazing pizza. I've only ever had the pizza but the menu looks great. There is a patio, turf style with live music sometimes on the summer weekends but we tried sitting out there one eve in July... And came in for a seat to get service. Nice gal but she was alone to bartend and serve so... That was ok. She was nice. The place isn't very big. Washrooms....ok functional... I have a feeling this building is way older than me! Would recommend. Crave the pizza often. read more

I came across this little eatery, two years ago, while driving through the area. I decided to try their pizza. Its now been two years, and many pizza deliveries later and its still the best pizza. Dodgy bar on the side of the road filled with hillbilly regulars and rude staff.. well that one older crusty woman anyway... Wanted to try some food off their menu -- it's on the door.. K, so I'd like a whatever sub -- no subs, just pizza and wings... Uh, ok, so I'll have a pizza and a beer to wait - how about that one on draft... oh, no draft, just these... well, I guess PBR it is.. sheesh... Girl that took my order was friendly, but the crusty one who came to pick up the machine that I had put the receipt under so it wouldn't blow away I got a "why didn't you just leave it there, they're both the same, it'll blow away.." 1. they're not the same, the Merchant one comes out first and the Customer one comes out next. That woman may or may not be the owner of the bar but it is probably WAY above her pay grade to be the f*cking bookkeeper.. 2. I couldn't believe that bitch... I am ALWAYS about trying to assist the servers in any way so didn't wait for them to come back out and just handled my bill by pressing the buttons appropriately... Oh Mort's, another good pizza from your bar today! This brings me back to my initial time at Mort's. I remember the first time I came into Mort's was for an Ottawa Senators playoff game during their Stanley Cup run. EVERY one of the sports bars we walked into were full to capacity. Our final stop was Local Hero's on Robertson and they were full as well. We were definitely a little bummed but saw this little building beside Local's called Mort's Pub. I asked my friends if they wanted to check this place out instead and they agreed to check it out. We walked through the parking lot and onto Mort's property. When we first walked in there was this funky smell and we noticed that water was leaking into buckets in multiple spots of the pub. We looked at each other, smiled and said oh yeah and grabbed a table were there was no water dripping into a bucket. The funky smell did not go away and we did not get used to it BUT there was sitting room inside of a pub where the TV they were showing the game may have been worth more than the pub itself. We looked through the menu and our server came over to take our drink orders. While she was over we asked for a recommendation on food and she told us to try the pizza. We ordered a Mort's special and the rest is history! Mort's pizza has perfectly cooked crust from the edges to the bottom. You won't suffer from topping collapse because the bottom of the pizza seems almost undercooked. The toppings are plenty and the cheese is pretty good. It's unlike the cheese they have at some delivery places that for some reason seems runny. Mort's also does take out and delivery. This place is truly a hole in the wall but it's got some really good pizza! read more

Take out is great, don't dare try and dine in. personal Pizza, no parm, no dried peppe,r, had to ask for everything and it was very clear I was an inconvenience and should have ordered out. when I challenge d the owner as to why there was no servic, she threw me out. personally never again. there are so many Pizza places...avoid and go somewhere they respect your service. This was my first time at Big Morts little pub. Service was fantastic and the food was great. Most reviews were about how great the pizzas are but I tried Bells Lasagna, it was really good. I'm from north of Toronto here on business, if my visit is extended I will be going back for the Pizza tomorrow night. I recommend Morts for a great meal anytime. read more

I was a bit unsure about going in when we arrived, based on the appearance of the joint , but carried on and I'm glad we did. Based on previous reviews I ordered a pizza - The Canadian while my son ordered the Rueben. The pizza was a treat. Perfect crust with delicious toppings. The cheese was stringy and ideal on the pizza. I would go out of my way for the pizza if I'm ever back in this area again. The Rueben was reported as excellent too. read more

This is a great little neighbourhood pub, with good people, great service, and very reasonably priced food. Where else can you take out a small pizza and a pound of wings for $23, tax included? This is one of my favorite places for pizza. haven't tried anything else on their menu but it is probably over 90 percent consistently delicious. it is more expensive than a fast food pizza place but it's restaurant quality, pub pizza. if people come over for ordered pizza, this is what we'd get to impress them with our brilliant ability to buy pizza. The staff is great there, they're friendly and, as far as i could tell, attentive. the pub itself is mildly small, sort of hole-in-the-wall style but one that i find somehow attractive. i feel like it could be my cheers if i went there for more than picking up pizza for 5 minutes. people use the dart boards and the regulars are often in their usual seats at the bar. check it out. read more

We were staying in a hotel right next door and couldn't find anyplace to eat nearby that sounded good and would allow our dog, so based on reviews we tried Big Mort's take-out and we were wowed at the quality of the pizza. I was not crazy about our hotel but I would stay there again just because it is next to Big Mort's! Plus they are very friendly and the place is pretty lovable. read more

Yup like many of the other reviews a few years ago my husband talked me into going into Morts. I was apprehensive but went in. We love this place and have been going for years. We love the staff and are never disappointed and of course have our fave server when she is there. The pizza is very signature and has its own style. The crust is crispy and the toppings all fresh. The cheese is always fresh and gooey. The sauce amazing! Plenty of combinations to suit any pizza lover but we always order a half Morts and half Bells. Infused pepper oils are always on the table adding to the deliciousness. Don't let the size of this place fool you the food is amazing! In the last year they have replaced the old tables with new ones and there are TVs for any sports lovers who want to get together on a game night and cheer on your favourite team ( Sens all the way ). Had a pizza from Big morts for the first time. Bin driving past this place for many years and never went in. I have to say the pizza was excellent, thin crust was perfect. "Why on earth would anyone go to that place?" is likely what you will ask yourself if you ever drive by Mort's, and for good reason. At first glance it's a box-shaped pub in Bells Corners located beside Local Heroes. Nothing really sticks out about it except for its name, and it looks like a grand total of five people can fit inside. I had the same reaction until a buddy of mine came with me to Mort's as a joke. Well, it is no joke. The decor reminds me of a rundown, dive bar. There is a small bar, a few tables....that's about it. Here's there it gets good: Firstly, the food is excellent. the pizzas are great, as are the rest of the options on the menu. One wouldn't expect a pub to have good pizza, but they even deliver. I think that say something about the quality of the food. On the drinks side of things, the beer was cold and delicious. I drink enough to know a good beer to a bad beer. Some places don't clean the lines for their draft that often which one can taste in the beer. The beer there is great. It's not a big bar, mind you, so they might be limited in what the serve as far as booze goes. This is the perfect place to have a few drinks with some buddies and shoot the breeze, or read the paper and have a bite to eat. read more

I'm very familiar with neighborhood family style pubs and Mort's is equal to the best of them, especially after having lived 30 years in mostly Italian and German/Polish neighborhoods. The pizza is the best in Ottawa...., love their pizza sauce and the staff are very, very friendly. Choice of beers is excellent. read more

I have had the priviledge of visiting, working at, eating at and drinking at Big Mort's Little Pub in Bell's Corners and let me tell you you will never find a more genuine bunch of people anywhere in Canada. I have lived in numerous provinces and have yet to meet people like I have met there. The management and staff treat you like one of their own. The food is absolutely fantastic, especially the lasagna when its available, truly truly homemade lasagna. The menu is a complete and very pub like menu with a certain care in preparation. You can find pretty well every beer you would like or drink you would like and they have a few draught beers if thats your fancy. I have been away from the Ottawa area for almost two years and I always think of the day I will walk back into Mort's and order up another pint of Stella and order a pizza which is fantastic to say the least. So if you are looking for good food, good entertainment, great down-to-earth people, Big Mort's Little Pub should be on your list of places to stop in for a beer and a bit of grub.
