I loved this store. Always had good deals and many options. Sadly, the chain is closed and does not exist anymore.

Have been going to to this location for years. Store is typically clean, with clear aisles and well-stocked shelves (exceptions being around the holidays, sometimes). Checkout is usually quick. I enjoy shopping at Big Lots because they carry a variety of quality items and whenever I go I usually end up purchasing the item(s) I came for plus a few more I needed but hadn't thought of. To date myself, I've been shopping at Big Lots since they were Pic 'N' Save (IYKYK), so I've been a long time fan. I used to shop at Big Lots in WLA. That store closed so 3-4 years ago & when I happened to be around Slauson, I noticed BL. Since 99cents store is gone I thought might find miscellaneous things that I used to buy from them, here. Hardly anything, but I stumbled across an aisle w/extension cords. It piqued my interest. I squatted on the ground & surveyed the length. I thought the label was misleading as it had the length 18' and another 20' feet. Okay... I get it, it's not cool to open a packaging but... the ext cords like yarns had a strap around it & I wanted to see for myself that thz are accurate because I rather know then, than to end up with something short that I have to return. I pulled the strap and opened the cord on the ground. It seemed short as I suspected. I put that back together -- not as perfectly as it was but reached for another. That's when this black security guard w/tattoos on his face came at me. I was in the ground because of where the cords were -- on the bottom shelf close to the ground. So he says: Miss you can't open the products. I said: but I don't think the size/length is accurate; I think they're mislabeled. He repeats himself his voice is now elevated! I responded: I'm not stealing anything; shouldn't you put this energy on those Smash & Grab people... he wouldn't let me put in a word edgewise! I lost it because this world is getting crazier by the minute w/ppl that steal & here was this guy treating me like a criminal! He kept referring to what the label reads w/reference to size, but when I w/d say, I think it's not accurate, he repeated w/the same w/a harsher tone. Finally, I said... stop yelling at me! He asked me to leave the store & I hit back. Not my proudest moment, but I'm Living in a world that has changed profoundly & this guy thinks he c/d talk to a 59 year old woman who has seen civility & politeness when going to stores & now being treated like I'm garbage. I think another person made a comment about that same security guard & God help us if he has aspirations to join the Blue! He abuses his power! read more

Big lots has the best deals in town. This big lots had quick service and clean set up to find everything you need. Register as member and you get an additional 20% off coupons a lot of times. Plenty of parking and surrounded by some of the best street food in LA. read more

I'm giving them 4 stars because I feel like if there wasn't Covid, there would have been more items in stock. When you walk into the store, shelves are literally empty. Most items sold OUT! I don't blame them for not having everything on my shopping list; this pandemic has made it faster for items to be gone quicker. Depending on when you arrive, the line is a wait. Not too long, but it does take some time, specially in the afternoon. read more

One of the worst customer service ever... from being racially profiled & followed around to as we were shopping and looking at products... one of the employees rudely stepped right in front of us & started Changing prices... without a excuse me or anything.... My friend and I looked at each other like WOW! We thought that maybe she didn't speak English but still where are the manners?????. A few weeks ago (around second week of July 2021), I was at your Slauson store. A clerk named Xavier was working two registers to quickly check out customers. He had no help with the long line of customers, but his attitude was great. And, he was efficient and accurate! It was awesome. It's great to see a young man like Xavier working hard and having a big smile while doing it. I'm late getting this comment in, but it's been on my mind. Why? I love shopping at Big Lots because I like surprises when I'm shopping, and the store always has them. For instance, they sell a protein powder that I use when I workout in the gym and it's a quality powder and so reasonably priced. In addition, the food items that Big Lots carries are also high quality and reasonably priced. I never know what I'm going to find in Big Lots store and I've never been let down. Checking out has always been pleasant and and the cashiers are very helpful when needed. read more

DONT SHOP HERE! Wish I had read these comments first. On 12-13-22 @4:45pm. A security guard (who refused to give me his name) became aggressive and disrespectful when asking me to leave my bag at the front. When I asked why isn't this the policy at all big lots he and a 2nd secure guard (also would not give me his name became irate and verbally abused me until the point where I left. This big lots location needs to close down. It was a traumatic experience to say the least. I hope this location closes down. read more

First time at this location, I decided to stop by since it was on route. Won't ever step in to this location. Security black guy, (older guy) had the nerve to ask me Ive been at the store for a quite of while and I have no cart and nor things on hand to purchase. I got upset and told him I did not know there was a time frame and it's a must to have something in hand to buy. I shop at the Big Lots at 1815 West Slauson Avenue all the time, I was there Tues. 2/25/20 shopping for bathroom tissue, I saw their brand of tissue was $9.50, I saw a name brand of bath tissue for about the same price, but it had a coupon attached to it for .75 cents off do I decided to get it because it would be cheaper. When I got to the register, the cashier said we do not accept coupons. I told her the coupon was on the store package and the cashier proceeded to say we offer them on our products but we don't accept them. This is a very nice location. They have private parking and it's comfortably wide. I finally grew some nerve to drive our Chevy truck and was slightly nervous about parking it in their lot but the spaces are so wide, I was able to park as if knew exactly what I was doing. Ha!. This location has well stocked product. I love the variety they offer. Give you another to choose from. I went to replace a personal water jug that someone stole from me at work. I was so hurt but after visiting this location I was able to replace the bottle I had with one even better. The service here rocks as well. Hard working staff that keeps their products selling. My husband picked this location because the one I visit often is the Crenshaw/Manchester location. That was my home location every since it was called Pick N Save. I like the staff here too. They may chat with customers and each other (not much at all), but they keep the checkout lines moving. I don't go there to chat or gauge their level of customer service. When I ask for something, they are helpful. I have no recommendations in this area as I have been going to this particular one for years. They even keep it clean considering it's busy location. Hi my name is Edith from LA, CA and one evening I pulled up to the Big Lots on Slauson Ave and Western Ave, jumps out runs to the door and I hear another customer pleading her circumstances at the door, so I started to turn around until I hear the person say "I only need one thing I promise", she goes in and I say in desperation I only need one thing, this was the truth. In 5 minutes the store was going to close. She let us both in and we ran like we were in a race, grabbed what we needed and was out of there. Her willingness to let us in has made me a loyal Big Lots Customer, you see they still closed on time. That employee put the customer first, something that is rare these stressful days. They got some of the best decoration from any other store honestly if u go early October or late September you will find some of the best selection of Christmas decoration better than I've ever seen at target. But you gotta shop early. Other than that the place is like any other big lots, good selection low prices etc. Not the best customer service but like u said their deco selection is pretty good read more

Once again, I love me some BIG LOTS. They will definitely have the stuff you can't find at your local 99cent store but that you can't find at Target either such as affordable kitty litter boxes or cheap containers for your Christmas junk you only whip out once a year. I always get my tupperware from here for super cheap. It can be messy at times and sometimes the customer service isn't the best ever but hey, you get what you pay for. Yep! I admit it. I am a bargain shopper.... I always have fun shopping here. I usually shop on Sunday mornings with my friend, which makes it fun. We have our routine, and shop the aisles. I like to come here for dog food. I don't like the fact that the cashier is constantly talking to someone who is standing near her register. Although I already had my products on the counter She sat back in her chair when it was time for my order to be rang up. I had to glide my stuff towards her for her to start ringing them up. Absolutely the worst customer service in the friggin world! Management needs to be trained on how to talk to people. I called at 9:06 pm and I'm aware they closed at 9 but i had just 1 simple question. First an associate answered the phone with an attitude and i proceed to ask my question and with an attitude her response was "i can't answer questions now we're closed!" And then hangs up on me. So i call right back and ask to speak to a manager and i don't know if its the same person or not but she was equally as rude. So once again i state to her "i know that you're closed but i just have 1 simple question..." frustrated her response was "im the only person here and we're closed." Then i say, "and you're the manager?" She replies, "yes, what's you're question!" I feel she knew at that moment i was about to reach out to someone higher than her.
