Just doing my regular shopping, looking around. Have to use the restroom and I see someone walking out of the bathroom but it requires a code. Go to the front talk to an Asian man who says "im on break, that's why i say bathrooms are not working" he proceeds to say there only two of us and if you want to use the restroom you have to wait in line at the cash register. I was politely asking to use the restroom and getting a code, not checking out. I understand only two people working but if you can give the code to someone else and not to me, that's pretty rude. read more

6 pairs of socks for $6.00? How about the same socks for $4.00? I was a bit surprised. The layout of this store was unusual. There were underwear and socks around the electronics area. Who knows? At least, the food and health and beauty areas were together, as usual. It felt as though there were more deals, but fewer international items. Being in the same shopping center with Kmart, you'd think everyone would be at Big Lots because Kmart is so expensive at full price. They were running behind at the register and they opened another. We were looking for a new backyard patio furniture table & chair set and saw that Big Lots was running a great summer sale. Looking at their online ad we decided on a set made by Wilson & Fisher. When I called the different Big Lots Stores in our area to see who had them in stock, many stores either didn't answer the phone or put us on hold for a long time while they checked. This experience was totally different when I called the Lodi Big Lots store. I was helped by Rubina and she was extremely helpful & very pleasant. Not only did she find a set of the chairs in their inventory, but when they didn't have the table, she called many other stores on my behalf to check. We have now purchased the chairs and are going to get the matching table once it's delivered to the Lodi Store. First thing first I want to say Connie the associate who helped me was awesomeness she went above and beyond her job in showing compassion and great customer service to me . I will be shopping there still because she showed me what great customer service is . Five stars for Connie There are good people here and there are some down right rude people but I think you find that in any establishment. Now onto my complaint of Joann I entered the store as I usually do each week for the past 10 years . I was not asked polity but demanded to put on a mask by associate Joann . When I told her it was against my religious beliefs ,she smirked and said you still need to put on a mask . I told her polity I do not wear a mask . ( I do not wear a mask any where do to my medical conditions and my religious beliefs ) Then I told her I am within the recommendations of the CDC and I am also within the guidelines of the San Joaquin county health department. She rudely again told me you still need to put on a mask if you want to shop here . (Recommendations are not a law -guidelines are not a law . ) Then I told her I am not going to wear a mask because it constricts my breathing , that is within ADA compliance. I continued to walk in than the customer she was waiting on went on a rant with her (I am not going to be discriminated against by her actions ) then Joann the associate that she has asthma and she has to wear a mask eight hours a day. (That is by her choice not mine ) then joann and her customer started to bully me the customer started cussing saying how she's effing religious and than Joann was agreeing with her and said to me and pointing she wears a mask . ( her customer ) Joann says You have to wear a mask too if you want to shop here . ( No you do not have to self suffocate you can shop without a mask here and there and everywhere . This is a recommendation only it is not a law and Can not be enforced by a law officer . ) It's not about the mask it was about the way I was bullied in a store . Religious exemption the bear is legally exempt from wearing any face coverings or being subjected temperature taking as protected by US federal law title II of the civil rights act US code 42SS 2000 according to state and federal civil rights law as an individual has free and equal access to all facilities and services in your business establishment regardless of store policies ( store policies can not be above the law ) wearing a mask is not a law My religious beliefs have been disregarded and my equal rights have been disregarded and disrespected . Act 1964 California code 51 all persons within the jurisdiction of the state have the right to be free from any violence or intimidation by threat of violence committed against their persons or property because of political affiliation or on an account of any characteristic listed or defined in subdivision be section 51 the identification in the subdivision of particular basis of discrimination is Illustrative rather than restrictive 51(b) all persons within the jurisdiction of the state are free and equal and no matter what their sex race color religion religion ancestry national origin disability metal condition genetic information marital status sexualOrientation citizenship primary language or immigration status are entitled to the full and equal accommodations advantages facilities privileges or services in all business establishment of every kind whatsoever I called corporate and got no where I filed a complaint on the corporate website with no response I will continue to stand for my freedoms regardless of store policies in place if you can place a mask and self suffocate policy you can put in place a non mask wearing policy for those who want to shop without being harassed or bullied . I am writing this review for the store policy and employees need to be educated of our civil rights . The Governor can not mandate anything he can only recommend. read more

Update: I received a call from the store manager Connie, and we had a nice talk. She apologized and assured me that she spoke with the cashier. I appreciate the follow up Big Lots and your manager Connie is a keeper. Original: I visited this store (10/27/19) with my 3 and 4 year old. While shopping they needed to use the restroom (this store has 3 bathrooms) I asked the cashier Alma for access and was told "they are all out of order" and she had no interest or care that it was for my kid. I found the store manager who happily allowed us to use the restroom. On our way out Alma changed her story to "I just cleaned them that's why you couldn't go in there"... long story short I won't shop there when Alma is there. She was inconsiderate, short and honestly didn't seem as she cared to be there, maybe she was having a bad day but really.... Who doesn't allow a toddler to use the restroom!? read more

Was extremely impressed with the Outstanding Blu! She was amazing! We went to purchase a metal roof gazebo, she was so helpful with finding information and aiding us in the pricey purchase. Then I noticed that the other emplyees were just as impressive. So happy to shop there. read more

I have been searching for a pool to cool off in as the days get warmer, and everywhere else has canceled all of my orders and would hang up on me! When you're throwing a party and in need of random supplies, it is natural to try and find the best deals around. Sure, you can find most supplies at the big name stores but you'll also pay big name prices. I hadn't been to Big Lots in years and I had forgotten how big of a variety of things they carry. I was in need of party supplies and a few household items and I was pleased to find what I needed at less than half of what I would have paid at a big name store. The staff that I encountered while shopping were nice and very helpful. The store was clean and well organized, and all of the items were clearly labeled with their pricing. A good shopping experience which saved me quite a few bucks! read more

This Big Lots was very clean and organized. Rubina was extremely helpful helping me find everything I needed. I had the opportunity to over hear a conversation she was having with a customer over the phone as I waited for her to assist me and she was so reassuring and accommodating to whatever the customer was requesting on the other end. She even shared her days off with them and reassured them she would help them find the item they were requesting before her day off. In the same manner she was so helpful to me. Today I went to big lots on Cherokee for the first time in a long time . And I must say I was so impressed by Rubina's great customer service! Big Lots has good prices and great adds. never been to one other than Lodi's. We don't go there but a few times a year, the store itself is a little on the cluttered side which we have come to expect, and service is nothing but barely adequate. Our last visit on March 4 th of 2012 was the worst experience to date as the cashier was blatantly rude, and preoccupied with the chaos ensuing in the store due to understaffing... ( or so it appeared ) Hopefully this yelp will serve to help store management to overcome these pitfalls and make Big Lots an enjoyable shopping exspierience. read more

While I was frustrated with lack of in stock furniture, as with every business right now, the associates were incredible. AJ at the Placerville location called most local stores for stock check for me. When he was unsuccessful, I made one more call to the West Lane Stockton location and Tenisha found me a sectional I could pick up ASAP. The next day, Rubina with S. Cherokee Lane, Lodi store, made several calls to locate a table and chair set in stock for immediate pick up as well. The service at all locations was incredible. The stock availability on website is super frustrating, but the employees were so helpful. I needed furniture ASAP and spent 3 long days searching multiple "big furniture" stores and none had stock available for immediate take home, nor were there sales associates nearly as helpful as Big Lots. AJ, Tenisha and Rubina all saved me weeks of stress and they were all so polite, helpful and super friendly. I hope they get credit for all their help :) read more

Came in to the store shortly before closing because we plan on making an $800.00 or more purchase of a new living room set for our grandmother for Mother's Day. Upon our arrival we couldn't help but notice the employees standing right in front of the doors smoking cigarettes. Nothing wrong with cigarette smoking but not as an employee right in front of the business entrance(less than 10ft). We overlooked it. The selection was small but we saw a few sets we really liked. We heard the announcement come over the speaker that they were closing in 5 minutes. 10 minutes prior to their posted closing time. I decided I would quickly use the restroom before we headed home. Upon running back to the restroom their was an employee locking the bathroom. I said oh darn the bathroom is locked. She then said "yeah we are closed". While I understand they were closing soon, they were still 10 minutes prior to closing. I said oh okay, but she's huffing and puffing opening the door for me. I got close to her and she gave me the dirtiest look possible. I said you know what I will go ahead and go somewhere else and may have used a choice of word or two. My point is that the customer service from this lady was horrible. She was literally huffing and puffing, rolling her eyes and acting incredibly inconvenienced during business and on the time clock getting paid. Certainly not someone I'd ever let represent a business that I was running. I don't recall her name but she's late 40's or early 50's. She definitely appears to have lived a stressful life. Shame on you Big lots! We will go somewhere else to make our large purchase tomorrow. Your selection won our business. Your service lost it! read more

I shopped here last week. I had not been here in years because in the past it has been dirty and unorganized. But now, I could see a good difference as soon as I walked in. An employee greeted me. I asked where the item was that I was looking for and she directed me right to it. I only wanted the one item, so I got it and returned to check out and the same employee checked me out. Would do zero stars if I could. I went in looking for something that my sister-in-law bought two hours prior. After walking through the whole store twice, I asked for help. No dice and no offer to help me find it. So I called my sister in law. Then I went back and asked two different employees, and all I got was "Sorry. Can't help you." I cruised the store one last time, asked one more employee and when they told me "Sorry." I handed them the $30 in extra stuff I found to buy and walked out. Total crap. read more
