Our Boy Scout Troop had an awesome time at Big Frog this past weekend. We rafted on both the Upper and Middle Parts of the Ocoee River. These are great people to know to set up your next outdoor adventure. Our guides were Erik I., Matt G., Spencer and Garrett. Fun, knowledgeable and just the right amount of crazy to a have fun and exciting adventure! Big Frog also has camping spots and a good sized bunk house if you don't want to set up tents. Today my family and I ventured to TN for whitewater rafting!! We had a ball!! Best fun in a long time. Alex was our guide and he told jokes and kept is laughing the whole time. We went on a $25 Groupon but would go back in a heart beat!!! The ride was 1 1/2 hours of varying currents. My husband almost fell out of the boat which was hilarious!! We even had a brief stop just to swim in the lake!! Everyone was super nice and there are showers available to clean yourself up and dry off for the ride home!! This was my first rafting trip and I went with a group of 11 for a 3 p.m. tour on a Saturday. The tour left right on time and we were given some instructions before leaving so all the newbies kind of knew what was going on. My group's raft guide was Bruce, and he couldn't have been more helpful. He explained exactly what we needed to do, was clear calling out the times we needed to row, and great at explaining how to pull somebody back in the boat, a definite plus since I'm the one that fell overboard. :) I did the middle Ocoee tour and definitely want to go back for the full. The only thing that keeps this from being five stars (as good as it gets) is the shower and bathroom availability. From what I saw with other outfitters for the Ocoee, the unairconditioned school bus transportation is standard, and Big Frog isn't too far from the middle Ocoee launch. Even in upper 90s heat, once the bus got moving the heat wasn't that bad. read more

BFE is awesome! Especially Magi and Richard--two of the best guides, hands down. After getting lost on 411, I called BFE to let them know we wouldn't make it on time. They happily offered to hold off departure 15 minutes to give us time to make it. People die everyday doing other thrill activities! By all means, don't stay away- The Ocoee has a very good safety record- considering the number of people who do NOT die on the trip! There are many different companies on the river and I am confident that this incident could have happened with any one of them on this rapid. BFE is full of AWESOME guides and they deserve your business! There are inherent risks with any sport. Don't go at all if you are afraid of the possible outcome! WE will be back! read more

This was my second time down the Ocoee river , we chose Big Frog based off a few reviews I seen on line, and would have to say that it was hands down the best out of the 2 times, every one at Big Frog was super nice and helpful... Can't say I could complain about anything... With that said it truly boils down to the river guide you end up with , that will either make your trip or break it ... We ended up with Kat... This place was awesome! Went on a slow weekend and have to say it's this type of situation that shows what a place is made of. The entire staff was super nice (Rob and Pebbles) and went out of their way to make sure we felt included and taken care of. We were lucky enough to go down the river with Rob (the owner of the company) as our guide and the other boats were full of either guides or trainees (don't want to leave out Alex, Rachel, Jeremiah, Terry, Hunter and Adam). The whole group (guides and trainees) was awesome and we had the best time doing the full river trip. We camped out for 3 nights in their "upper" campground and it couldn't have been easier. They provided the tent and even a canopy over the tent. The sleeping mat was comfortable as well making it a really easy experience. The bathrooms were well kept and all the other facilities were clean and ready to use. If you're camping/canoeing the Ocoee, Big Frog Expeditions is the place for you! I definitely plan on coming back and recommending this place to all my friends. BFE is awesome! read more

I have been rafting on the Ocoee for 15 years. This was my least favorite experience with an outfitter. Lots of waiting around time - We were told to be at the outfitters at 3:30. We did not get on the water until 5:50. My 17 year old and her boyfriend wanted to sit in front. Guide would not allow it, and made the two parents sit in front. (We have always been able to put the teens in front). Very, very disappointing to the kids who wanted to sit there. Guide was very inflexible, and appeared to be having a bad day. No personality, just going through the motions. All participants had prior rafting experience on the Ocoee, and he treated us all like camp schoolkids. We all understand the importance of the Guide's stroke commands, but this guy was condescending. Took all the excitement out of it. Half way down the river, we fished out a shoe from the river. We put it in the boat to bring to the take out, but the guide took it and threw it into the woods along the side. My kids were shocked at the littering alone, not to mention the fact that he did not try to return the shoe to the customer who lost it. In fact, the next raft came along and asked if we had seen it...). Lastly, the time on the water was 1 hour 20 mins. This was the fastest trip down the Ocoee I have ever had. It seemed like all he wanted to do was get down the river and go home. As we have had great experiences with other outfitters, we will not use this outfitter again. read more
