They even blast country music over the speakers in this decked out wooden interior. I ordered a brisket sandwich that also had sausage. I wasn't going to expect much from a BBQ restaurant in London, but they impressed me. The brisket was juicy and full of a rich smoky flavor. How did they do this way out here?? The sausage was also juicy and had a delightful flavor. If I didn't know any better, this tasted just as good as a BBQ brisket sandwich back in the US. The sandwich came with a pickle spear and some coleslaw. There was a generous amount of brisket on the sandwich, where some US restaurants only give you two slices of brisket and call it good. Came here for a late lunch and enjoyed two burgers. The surf and turf burger was tasty and unique since it had shrimp with it. We also got a regular burger with bacon and cheese and was really tasty with the sauce they used. Our server Domingo was attentive and kind without being overly aggressive. He seemed to always check on us at the right time. The restaurant setting makes me feel like I'm in Texas but with the benefits of a nice view of the river. It's exactly what you think it's going to be so don't even do a double take. I know, you're probably missing the flavors of home and this sounds like it might do in a pinch. But seriously, don't do it. Just go to McDonalds, Taco Bell, KFC, or another consistent chain from the States and avoid this place. You should already be able to render judgment just reading the description of the restaurant as there are two major problems straight away: 1) It's Texas BBQ in not just London, but Canary Wharf 2) "the Big Easy" refers to New Orleans and all the associated Creole cuisine, not Texas BBQ. This might as well be like going to Australia and asking them if they have Scotch Eggs because well heck, they're in the Commonwealth, right? Yes, there is some shrimp on the menu but that's about as bayou as you're gonna get. Tried some brisket and chicken, both of which looked fine enough but were as bland as all get out. Beans faired a bit better but they were much closer to breakfast beans than BBQ beans. The final nail in the coffin is the complete absence of chili on the menu. The horror, the horror... Two stars for the interior which is nice enough and kind of has a Disneyland version of Texas vibe to it. read more

The food is not bad but the standards for cleanliness is very low. My table had some dried food stuck to it but was not bad, so I didn't think too much of it. I then accidentally saw what was lurking underneath the paper of the trays on which the food is served, absolute disgrace if you ask me and a health hazard. The bathrooms are also an awful design, no space to rest your bag, so it's a struggle to apply makeup etc. The salad that came with my meal ( pictured) also looks so bad, I didn't even bother eating it. I've never actually eaten here, but being a visitor from San Diego I thought I'd look into dropping in for Thanksgiving. So I looked at the reservation section on their website and - what a surprise. It feels more like reporting for a custodial sentence than trying to book a table. They "don't accept cash at all", they have a strictly regimented system of time allocation for the tables, and they have a cancellation policy that is definitely written in a deliberately, confusing fashion. Turning oneself in at Donovan (that's a state prison in South San Diego County) would be a more welcoming experience than trying to eat at this joint. read more

We both love seafood, especially lobster, but it is so expensive. However the best value comes at The Big Easy on Canary Wharf (and other outlets in London). Great venue with, sometimes, live music. Lobster meal for £35 can't be beaten especially with their own draft ale. OK the tables can get a little cramped with plates etc but they are always cleared pretty quickly. Disclaimer: Born in Texas, USA and raised in Louisiana. My expectations for BBQ or any New Orleans themed restaurants are pretty high and possibly unrealistic/unfair. I will try to be objective. The Good: The Banana Cream Pie was delicious with a tiny hint of chocolate and soft bananas. The jumbo shrimp which went with the BBQ ribs were very tasty. The fried shrimp was huge and we brought some home. The Skillet Mac & Cheese was "ok," but it was lacking a bit of flavor. The BBQ Ribs were ok, but also lacked some flavor. I guess I was expecting a bit more in the way of sauce and seasoning. You get a good bit of food for the price, but I wasn't overly impressed with everything. The Bad: What the heck is the deal with service at some of these restaurants?! The server had a weird abrasiveness to him which I can't place origin. With this having happened at multiple locations, I think it might just be my expectations. However, the restaurant is called "Big Easy," and one thing that we Louisianians are known for is our southern hospitality. I didn't feel any of that here. Also, the interior was catered more to Texas than anything! There wasn't one thing in there that made me think of New Orleans, except some of the music. Staying at the Marriott across the way, it was super late and everywhere else was closed on a Monday night. We didn't know what to expect but happy we took our chances on this place. My wife got the double bacon cheese burger and I got the 1.5 pound lobster, all the food came out hot and the fries seems like they were right out the grease! Just like I like it! Oh. My. Goodness. This place blew my mind with its authenticity and deliciousness, I couldn't believe it! Every time I am in London, I have a very hard time with the food (unfortunately I find it quite bland and flavorless). This jumping and jiving BBQ joint was the perfect taste of home. With live music, delicious margaritas, and slow cooked, melt in your mouth, fall off the bone BBQ dishes to die for, there's nothing I tried that I didn't love (and I tried A LOT). The bar alone at the Big Easy is worth going. They have every bottle imaginable and the servers need to climb onto the rack to look super carefully before finding what they're looking for. The wine cabinets on the top hidden behind the drinks menus is temperature regulated. Live band playing in the corner with the gorgeous view of the wharf! What a great place to drink and hang out. Food, on the other hand, isn't phenomenal like the atmosphere. Great prices for lobsters and shellfish and many options for southern American BBQ, but the general taste is subpar. We started with the mussels in white wine sauce and my bf ordered a whole lobster while I ordered their crab bake that's similar to a cioppino but with southern spices. It had crab legs, mussels, clams, and shrimps. The flavour was okay but not cooked into the potatoes or the seafood. The garlic butter was great but all the seafood was just not that fresh tasting. I had a couple of bites of the ribs that my friends ordered and I was overall unimpressed - the meat was tender but not juicy and the spices were kinda bland. The service was friendly and responsive, which seems to be an improvement given the other reviews. The food isn't bad, but it's not great. We went for a friend's birthday and our table was on the terrace which is incredible; watching the sunset while we had our dinner. We all had the half lobster, steak, chips and frozen cocktail for £20 Thursday deal which was good value. Except it all arrived at different times. 3 people got their lobster and steak but no chips then over 30minutes later the chips came with the other 3 people's dinner. The waiter was really apologetic and helpful but when the manager came she didn't seem to think it was their fault and said we should have just enjoyed the food. I like all Big Easy restaurants because of their big servings of food and unlimited orders. We booked dinner for 12 people for my friend's birthday on the 24th of November 2015. We arrived 30 minutes early and our table was ready but we did not sit immediately because some of our friends haven't arrived yet. Unlike the Covent Garden Big Easy, they do not have a long waiting line for diners who did not prebook. The location of this Big Easy is nicer than the one in Covent Garden. The have a massive Patio overlooking the river and DLR. They are at the top floor of the Crosslink where there's a lovely garden to hang around. The waiters are friendly and easily approachable (maybe because we were sat at the Chef's Table and near their station) The only negative thing is they were very slow at cleaning up our table so we could have dessert. I had to ask several times for them to bring in the cake I ordered for my friend so that we could sing her Happy Birthday. Absolutely awful!!! Basically we went for the bottomless brunch and it was absolutely shocking. Waited for nearly 30 minutes to place our drinks order and even then we had to call to a waiter to come serve us. Then just over an hour after we ordered our drinks we got asked to leave the table. The table next to us had waited even longer. The table to the left of us had the manager down god knows how many times and the table behind us sent their food back. We literally had to ask for everything, cracker for the lobster, utensils, our drinks, chips (that were meant to be part of the main meal, we was told they were not included, even though it states on the menu "comes with chips") I was sick all evening, which I am putting down to the lobster. I paid the bill for my fiends because I was so embarrassed at the whole experience as it was me that had suggested this place. The mojito was watered down, the staff have absolutely no idea, they were delivering dishes to the wrong tables, people were shouting, the whole thing was a complete shambles! We made our dissatisfaction known but nothing was done. We didn't even get time to order dessert (not that we would have wanted to given how bad the food was) The best bit though was, I complained direct to the restaurant after and stated they should check their cameras.. The gentleman that got back to me, simply said, I've asked staff and everyone was ok!! Wouldn't check the cameras and I even provided the receipt which shows the date and time and explained we had to leave out table and sit upstairs (even though it states you get an hour and a half) we didn't, our reservation was for 12:15, we ordered our first round of drinks and 12:40. Before I begin, I've lived in the US for five years and know good BBQ. Where to start...Atmosphere was great with its live music and wannabe american decor. But it ends there. Food was pretty terrible. We sat down, ordered a BBQ platter for two, it came in about five minutes and everything was very, very overcooked and dry. Server first thought he was being clever saying "do you want the biscuits?" i replied "yes" then he said "well biscuits arn't english biscuits, blah blah" Yes i know what an american biscuit is. But these wern't biscuits. they were cornbread muffins in the shape of an american biscuit. Which were ok. Food had clearly been sat around for hours and then served to the masses. The pulled pork, brisket, and ribs were dreadful. These people don't know bbq and more concerned with smoke rings in their meat because they probably saw a show on the Food Network and think smoke rings is what makes BBQ good. They placed two slices of leathery brisket on top of two pieces of absolutely fatty disgusting brisket, the kitchen obviously trying to rid themselves of food. Trust me, brisket looked like leather. I cringe thinking about it. Ribs that seemed to been cooked for days then reheated, we had what appeared to be "burnt ends" in the US. NOT RIBS. Beans that tasted predominately of tomato sauce with no depth of flavor. Chicken had decent flavor but still dry. BBQ sauce tasted of vinegar. Vinegar based bbq sauce shouldn't taste like this. We asked for some sliced bread, which is a staple in BBQ restaurants in the US to mop up the goodness on your plate. Server then brought out two chunks of toasted baguette, and then charged us $2 pounds! WHY are you guys charging patrons for bread. Come on, seriously? We complained to the server about the state of our food. He came back five minutes later ,who said he could offer us free coffee or desert. WHAT THE FUCK. its a Friday night, we're paying 70 + pounds for a meal and he's offering us a free cup of what I could imagine to be shitty old coffee. Who the fuck wants to drink coffee on top of a full on BBQ meal. If you were in the US, you would have been taken out back and executed with a 12 gauge shotgun. seriously. I just moved to Canary Wharf and was excited of the prospect of having a nice, american bar to make me feel at home. But my god, did it just make me miss the US. I don't think i'll return. Probably will just return for a couple pints of Laguanitas and get the hell outta there. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY PEOPLE. And please, american bbq is meant to be moist, succulent and just plain delicious. this was far from it. If you want BBQ, save your hard earned cash for when you visit the US. The Big Easy bottomless brunch is the place to be! It's a 2 hour; all you can drink offer at only £29 which I think is a bargain! You can order either the lobster which comes different ways which is a limited meal, or limitless BBQ and this all comes with bottomless prosecco, frozen margaritas, wine or beer. First time I opted for the BBQ - it was so big I couldn't finish it let alone ask for more. I was particularly fond of the brisket and coleslaw. However now I tend to opt for the lobster, which is a more compact meal, but still extremely tasty and just about the right portion size. I also like having the salad... I'm sure it offsets the booze... I'm sure! They usually bring a bottle of prosecco to the table rather than keeping topping it up for you. Whilst weekends are busy, staff are extremely attentive and helpful and I like the southern USA style décor. Think rustic Tennessee. The Big Easy looks like and is a fun place to meet up with friends for food and drinks, but I had low expectations for the meat. My expectations were blown out of the water - I was very impressed. The filet was high end steakhouse quality: perfectly seasoned and cooked. Absolutely delicious! The prawns were slightly overlooked but still very good (and huge!) Cornbread and the iceberg wedge were also very tasty (loaded with blue cheese.) I'm not usually a big fan of St Louis ribs - I prefer more BBQ sauce, but they were also excellent. Upon arrival at 11:45 on a Sunday morning, the place is virtually empty. There are rooms full of empty tables. We arrive at reception where we are admonished for not making a reservation. Well, they'll try to squeeze us in, albeit there is a 2 hour limit. We accept these terms and take our place to wait on the bench for a server to seat us. There were more staff than customers. The server greets us and also reminds us that we've only got 2 hours use of the table. Obviously a trained script. Maybe it's me, being from the states, being greeted by 2 people with the same script, which is basically "Welcome, eat quickly, and be out in 2 hours". That isn't authentic American hospitality. Is there some rash of people occupying tables all day? The place is huge, you could fit 2 or 3 Canary wharf restaurants inside and they've never put a time limit on us (we work and live nearby). In any regard, the chicken and waffles were excellent (and the waffles and bacon are the only breakfast foods on their "brunch" menu, and only available on weekends, so don't go there today expecting to find a waffle). If you're going to advertise "brunch", shouldn't there be a bit more breakfast-like items?? Is toast too much to ask? or an egg or two? Anyway, if you're looking for good barbeque or New Orlean's type food and atmosphere, make a reservation, expect to ONLY be there 2 HOURS and enjoy. Went for the lobster with chips and salad with garlic oil and a pina colada (part of the meal deal). To be honest it was more effort than it was worth. Dissapointing! I loved the vibe, decor and clientele of the Big Easy at Canary Wharf, but the food was just not up to scratch. My friend and I ordered the platter, the Bar.B.Q blowout to share, which came with ribs, chicken and pulled pork with cornbread and fries and we added brisket, Mac & cheese and beans. It was a bit ambitious for two people! The food arrived in minutes, which I don't take as a good sign. I know it is barbecue, so it's going to be freshly made as it were, but I just don't like the idea of the food just being banged out so quickly. The chicken was sufficient, nothing particularly great about it, the ribs didn't have a huge amount of meat of them and the pulled pork was tasteless and a bit dry. The brisket however was really tasty. Phew! The mac and cheese was ok, again, not big flavor going on, same with the beans. The cornbread was very disappointing and was as hard as a rock cake! As is usually the case with barbecue, the bill wasn't cheap and although we had quite a lot of food, as the quality wasn't there, you just don't get value for money. Although our waiter was kind enough to provide a box so that my friend could take home our leftovers. My friend and I both had cocktails and I had a slushy margarita, which I was advised was pre-made and came out of a machine. So you pay £8 for is essentially an alcoholic slush puppy, no cocktail making skills required. Plus, they weren't very big at all so you finish in seconds. It's been a while since I've written a review but I'm feeling the need. Firstly, anyone who knows me or has read any of my reviews will know that my wife is American and has lived all over the States, from Illinois to Florida. So you could say she's had a few steaks and a few lobsters and knows what she likes. Whereas I've never had lobster and thought it would be the perfect time to have some and get it at a reasonably good price for Thursday's special menu; Steak and Lobster for £24.50 per person(A whole lobster costs £20 by itself). Other days have special deals which are: Monday - The big pig gig (limitless barbeque), Tuesday - Shrimp Tuesdays (Unlimited deep fried shrimp, or limitless shrimp bowl.), Wednesday - Limitless Hog or unlimited Chicken wings. (speaks for itself) Thursday - Steak and Lobster (sirloin steak and half a lobster) No special menu for Friday to Sunday. So we chose and booked a table for Thursday, which we were told we would have a two hour slot, so could be leisurely if we wanted to be. We even received a confirmation phone call from Big Easy making sure everything was fine and we were still coming. On the night, it was an easy walk from the station, about 3 minutes. We got through the door and told them we had a reservation, we were about 20 minutes early, but they showed us to the table straight away. I've got to other restaurants and been shown to the bar if I've been early, so this was a positive. The first things of note are DAMN it was noisy, and I mean noisy! It was less like a restaurant and more like a club level of volume. I know they're trying to get the theme of an American, New Orleans, Lobster type restaurant, and the atmosphere and décor is in-keeping with this theme. We got to our table and were shown the menus, with the waiter making suggestions that we may be interested in for a starter which we declined but he then asked if we were ready to order even though we only just sat down. We asked for a little time to look, which he did, but hovered behind me all the time while we decided. We ordered our drinks the special; half a 3/4lb lobster and a steak each, with the wife's steak medium rare and mine medium. With her meal having a baked potato instead of chips, to which the waiter said..."I don't think you can have a baked potato." to which I said "it says we can on the menu..." to which he says...."I don't think you can have one." and he went off to check. He came back and said, yes she could have a baked potato. Well thanks, we knew that, it was on the menu. Anyhow, we waited for our food and tried and failed to have any kind of conversation. Did I say it was loud? So if you want any kind of conversation with the people you're with while you're eating, this is a restaurant to avoid. So instead of talking, we looked at each other, listening to the live music and loud chatter. Considering we were three feet apart, perhaps this will show you how loud it was. We received our food, but without drinks. And our orders were mixed up. They put the baked potato with the medium steak and the chips with the medium rare steak. So we had to swap our steaks at the table with each other. While we were doing this the waiter came back with our drinks. When we asked for some butter for the baked potato, which we got told we couldn't have and what kind of butter did we want? I said "Look, we need some hard salted butter for the baked potato. If we have to pay for it, no problem" He went off to look for the butter and "if we were allowed to have it". He came back with a lot of butter, almost half a pack. Now to the food itself. The lobster wasn't really hot at all. Is it supposed to be? I've never had it before, I would have thought it should be. It was an interesting flavour and the garlic butter dressing was quite nice. The chips were....chips and nothing special. The steak was OK and nothing special again. Elle was unimpressed with the lobster, it wasn't fresh and looked like it had been under heat lamps in the kitchen. So we decided we'd get some dessert, I had a massive piece of banana cream pie and Elle had dressed up ice cream. We waited twenty minutes for our deserts, which was a surprise considering neither were heated and didn't have to be prepared. Although late, they were both delicious. Then we were eating the waiter asked if we would be able to "leave the table in seven or eight minutes because they had people waiting for the table?" This kind of flies in the face of the two hour slot that we were given, honestly we couldn't have been there an hour. So I paid and we left. Our overall feelings were that we weren't happy with the service at all. If I'd had the option, I would have not included a tip, this was included in the bill however. The food was not up to par for the prices they're charging and honestly we would have had a better and quieter night at a Wetherspoons! We won't be going back. read more

Be sure to make reservations. This place gets very busy. You can eat at the bar, but space is limited. We had soda and a couple of appetizers at the bar. Then we were seated at our table. The live music was very cool. read more

The food was great and the server was so nice and friendly he was happy to talk through the menu and help me pick what a wanted. Everything arrived quickly and the atmosphere was just what you wanted for a night out in London, busy and cheery. I am definatly going back to try more of the menu! read more
