I visited Big Dog's website and found a page at https://bigdogsatellite.com/tv-promotions/ which advertises an America's Top 120 package for $64. If you visit the URL and scroll towards the bottom you will see it. I sent a message thru their webform and got a call back and a message left. I returned that call and spoke with someone who insisted there is no $64 package and that I would be paying $90 for it instead. I even gave the person the page URL and he instead that they (presumable those at the Cedar Rapids office) were not responsible for what was on their corporate webpage. I posted on Big Dog's Facebook page which they promptly deleted (so I reposted and will continue to do so) and sent email through their link title Corporate on their page. A few minutes later I got a call from Zach to resolve this issue...which didn't get resolved. It just got Zach repeating that Dish Network is responsible for the pricing, no matter what the BD website says. He decided he was going to keep overtalking me and raising his voice, not a smart customer service type thing to do. I hung up on him and now I know why we left Dish Network many years ago. read more

Incompetent Installation: I had Dish Network service activated and installed in April 2009. I was happy until one of the satellite receivers stop functioning. I am now fighting with Dish Network because the receiver was leased and is damaged. Had Big Dog properly installed a grounding block for both the coaxial and the antenna mast, I would not be fighting with Dish Network right now. I wish I would have caught the mistake sooner, but I was expecting the advertised "Free Professional Installation". They violated the National Electric Code saved them maybe $2.00 and destroyed a $300.00 receiver. If you are searching for Satellite Television, avoid Big Dog, there are plenty of other companies in Cedar Rapids that can install the service of your choice. Avoid Dish Network also; even Executive Customer Support was worthless. I had to send a Cease and Desist to stop telephone harassment from them with a threat of a small claims case. read more

We recently cancelled our Mediacom service and decided to go with Dish network via Big Dog. Big Dog was very helpful giving us information about both Dish and Direct TV so we could choose what would work best for us, so our initial experience was positive. We scheduled a 10am service call for them to come out a couple days later and get the everything set up. 10am rolled by, so we called Big Dog at 10:30am to see what was going on. Although they were open, no one answered, so we just left a message. No one called us back. Around 11:15am we called back and this time did get through to someone. We told them we had a 10am appointment and no one showed up or called us. The salesperson on the phone told us they would have the service person call us-- no apology or explanation. Five minutes later a service person did call us and said he would be 5-10 mins out. A service person did arrive, around 11:30am (an hour and a half after our scheduled appt.) He arrived but no apology or explanation, so I asked why he was so late. He said he was not the original service person and he just got a call to come do this job and he's not sure what happened. All in all the service person that did get things set up was very helpful and polite and it sounds like it wasn't his fault. However, I would have expected Big Dog to apologize or provide an explanation since it's not like they were running 15 minutes late-- if that's how they treat new customers it makes me wonder how they'll be after we've been with them for a while. There was also some kind of mistake with the paperwork the service person had vs. what our service agreement was, so although it was handled well, it tacked on quite a bit of time to our appointment. Everything took about 2.5 hours (plus the additional 1.5 hrs when we were just waiting for them). If Big Dog had just called to provide an apology I wouldn't have bothered writing this review, but I'm really not happy with how things were handled (or not handled at all.) Very helpful, prompt, and courteous. Thank you Big Dog! I probably would never had gotten DirecTV if i had to deal with the 800 number. They were hard to communicate with the person on the phone wasted 30 minutes of my time. I called Big Dog and they walked me through everything, answered all my questions, and had it installed in 2 days. Going through DirecTV would have taken a month. No regrets. read more

If you are looking for a good internet provider or installer, keep looking because Big Dog stinks! I needed to upgrade my Wildblue internet satellite service for home business purposes. I contacted Wildblue to sign up for their new Exede service, they told me Big Dog Satellite is their local installer. I contacted Jordan at Big Dog and he said "no problem, we will set you up for Monday at 11". He called me the next day and asked me to discontinue my service with Wildblue and sign up as a new customer so they could make more money. This would delay my install by at least a week, so I declined. I was told that if I didn't do this, it is not worth their time. What great customer service and business ethics! I filed a complaint with Wildblue and the BBB. I am now posting my lovely experience to every site that I can to help prevent this wonderful experiece from being repeated again. Instead of Big Dog Satellite, they should be called Big Dog Turd. read more
