At 1115 we were able to get a table in less than 5 min. Our service was prompt and the food was brought out very quickly although the place was buzzing. It was very tasty and portions were good. We got to go to the Big Cup Eatery on the day we left Oakdale RV Park which lays claim to having the biggest biscuits in Texas. Well, how could I not try one of those? I ordered the Southern Plate which incorporates said gigantic biscuit and I can attest to the sheer size of this thing. The dish includes two eggs, hash browns and country sausage gravy in a big pile of carbohydrates. And I freaking loved it. The flavor was good enough that I didn't salt it which is saying something. My better half had the Quesadilla burger which was about $10 and is a big burger in a tortilla. She ordered hers with seasoned fries on the side. Also very good. The service was friendly and prompt and the food arrived in a timely fashion. I thought the place was clean and friendly and the prices were really fair for all the food we got. This was pretty good. It's an unusual place. High on a hill. Nice views of Glen Rose. I always thought it was a breakfast place, and I think it is, but we were here for lunch. Our server was attentive and helped us with the menu. We went for fajitas, and a chili relleno. Both were good. The food was 10/10 I got the chilaquiles Mayas super flavorful and amazing! Our waitress Holly was nice and constantly checked on us. We drove over an hour and a half away just for the banana caramel French toast for my husband to eat again so that should say a lot about their food! We thought we had found a hidden gem because there were 4 police cars there and that's usually a good sign. The grilled chicken sandwich got a 5, the chicken strips and catfish got a 3 and the chicken fried steak got a 1 it was very tough and overcooked.. the service was fine and friendly but never came back for drink refills. Went there for our goodbye brunch after dinosaur valley state park. Glen rose being a very small town, has limited options. My husband and I and two children under 3 we spent about $70 bucks. It was mediocre at best. I got "chicken and waffles" and it was a waffle with clearly frozen chicken strips on top. We mostly went because the kids menu has Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes. The kids enjoyed that, but the prices are like being top notch food from a bed and breakfast and/or I hop without the quality. read more

We were seriously about to pull into a gas station and get coffee to go and then Big Cup caught our eye. Such a wonderful impulsive stop. We both ordered migas which were devoured too quickly to photograph. In the entryway the Big Cup Eatery boasts "Home of the biggest biscuits in Texas." Well hell yeah, we had to order one of those to share too. It was flaky and delicious and didn't even need added butter or jelly. We decided to add one to our order because, how could we not? Upon arriving to the table it sat on a plate, the top well buttered and it was begging to be cut open. My husband and I decided to share one biscuit because they are pretty large after all and upon splitting it open we revealed it's sexy, fluffy deliciousness. He ate his as is, I frosted mine and butter which melted almost immediately and then spread some strawberry jelly on it as well since what good are biscuits without butter and jelly!! Now let's move on to the Aztec Chilaquiles, y'all... Oh my gosh these are so freaking delicious. Fried corn tortillas served on a bed of black beans and I got mine with the Ranchero sauce and I'm pretty sure there's magic in this sauce. The flavor is rich and savory but not spicy at all, it comes topped with queso fresco and grilled chicken and I couldn't get over how tasty this dish was. Yes! This was the Texas biscuit experience I needed during our eclipse trip! We ordered the banana french toast for the kids and they basically licked the plate clean. We were able to enjoy our pickles and sit a bit before the entrees came, we prefer it that way. I ordered the Quesadilla burger, SO delicious!! Mine came with seasoned fries (you can get waffle if you want though). Hubby ordered the chicken tenders with waffle fries, tasted great as well. Our waitress was attentive and polite. Restaurant is in parking lot with an old motel so wasn't sure what we were getting into but inside is decent and staff was friendly. Beautiful art on the walls and signage so plus for that! Quickly sat in a booth and waitress was friendly. Menu was huge and the coffee came in a big cup of course! Skillet with eggs, potatoes, onion and bell pepper was really good. Salsa on the side was excellent and looks house-made. We got the biscuit as a side to share and glad we did because it was massive. Gravy to scoop it up with was pretty decent. We stopped here on our mini trip to Glen Rose for the Dino's. Big Cup Eatery is right in town and you pass by it going to all the tourist attractions. This restaurant has an interesting layout, looks like it had additions added throughout the years, what is interesting about the rooms is that it actually makes it safer during this Covid pandemic. Only X amount of people in each room really separates people. This layout is a bit funky but actually an asset in this weird year of 2020. We ordered the kids a Mickey pancake each, the kids liked it. I ordered a grilled chicken burger on jalapeño bread and my husband ordered the quesadilla. Mine was delish, I loved the bread, it was very fresh and it had a great flavor. My husband enjoyed the quesadilla but he definitely ordered wrong, a quesadilla is a quesadilla but the bread was special, I bet they have other menu items that are more unique that would be a better option to try something you haven't had before. The only negative was how long it took for the food to come out. From order to eating it was 40 mins, I was greatful that the waitress got our kids food in first so they were eating after 30 mins (kids are aged 4&2 so we really appreciated her doing that). I do recommend this place and would go again but I would factor in a very long wait time so you don't end up being late to any activity planned. The restaurant was quite a bit bigger than it appears from the outside. Roomy with plenty of tables and booths. There is a small deck with tables overlooking the highway. It would seem to be too close to the road to enjoy a meal there, but if you had a pet with you or you were a smoker it may work for you.
