If I could give 10 stars I would! Constance and the entire staff has a great attitude and commitment to quality. The food was stellar and service was warm and prompt. Definitely worth the stop/ detour. Photo is proof of the delicious queso, we devoured it.

Special request of "Fish & Chips". Chef always makes our orders perfect, even my husband's very well done steak with extra crispy fries.

100% worth the drive! Absolutely love this place. From the food, to the super friendly staff and warm ambiance.. Can't overstate how awesome this place is. I can't go to any other Mexican restaurant in the area anymore, I'll just come here every time now. The difference is INSANE. Great prices also! Definitely check it out.

Full transparency: I'm a bartender at the cantina. That said, I still eat there as much as possible! Walnut Springs NEEDED a good, consistent restaurant with flavor and people who care! The margarita recipe is top notch, and we juice all of our citrus fresh, and make our Sweet & sour fresh each shift. The fish tacos and fajitas are impossible to beat. Seasoned well, and consistently good! Go try them... they're incredible! (Don't forget to save room for tres leches )

We love this new little spot in Bosque County. Very good drinks, excellent service. The best thing on the menu is the Paradillas. The meats are fabulous.

Bloody's were very good. Not sure what was in the pitcher, but they were not made by pouring out of a bottle of Zing Zang. (which I do like btw) This is in a very rustic, hastily put together space, and now that the problem child is gone. it is time for some upgrades and a makeover - as John has suggested. You have your proof of concept, now just dress it up. A suggestion on the sound. It was pretty much inaudible upstairs. I could hear that ya'll were talking - just very hard to make out the words. Which was a shame because I really wish I could have made out the Q&A Session better. I saw speakers everywhere - they just were not sending words to me. Not sure if it was better downstairs.

From what I understand the establishment is under New Ownership. Management, from my experience is killing it. The menu has a lot of options and literally everything wa appealing. I'm a Wing guy so that was a given. Big Wings cooked and seasoned perfectly served with what might be the best hand cut Onion Rings I had in a long time. If I remember there were like five flavors and I'm sure there was no bad choice on flavors. There is also a Steakhouse from what I'm told serves a very good Rib Eye. I should also mention the Burgers were said to be the best around. The Bartender Jennifer was very nice and made some tasty Cocktails. They also had a very good selection of Beers and some that seemed to be Texas favorites lol. I had a chance to talk to the Manager Reggie who was a nice guy. He said they have live Music some days. The place was.complete with a Stage and an area for Dancing. He said Ted Nugent was there recently. Definitely it my thing but to each his own. It's off the beaten path but as I said a great place to go to get away for a few Hours. Next time I'm in Fort Worth I'll probably go again. Especially if I find a business that Rents Bikes. Still thinking about those Wings. Lol. Yallhollatchaboy'.

The menu here is not expansive but it offers a very nice selection of tantalizing dishes. We opted for the fried chicken tacos. Being old timers with small appetites we customarily share an entree, but when I learned that an order consists of two, not the customary three tacos, I ordered a plate for each of us. Big mistake! Hahaha. These tacos are humongous! I'm afraid I totally failed to fulfill my duties as a responsible Yelper and take a photo of the presented plate. Attached is a pic of one, but the pic does not adequately provide for you a sense of the taco's actual size. We each had to work to finish one each. This creation is a work of taco art. A taco masterpiece. The tortilla appears to be house-made. The large pieces of chicken breast, perfectly seasoned and breaded; and crisply fried rest on a bed of some of the tastiest cole slaw ever. The fried chicken is then topped with a couple sauces that sing with the chicken and finished with house made hot honey. This taco is worth the drive to Hico from FTW for lunch. Service was once again very pleasant and attentive. And as I think I said in my previous review, Owners/Chefs Austin and Shannon have done a wonderful job of curating a welcoming, warm and authentic ambiance in this historic building.

The only downside during my visits would be people smoking directly outside the entrances. Since the restaurant uses large open garage-style doors, the smoke easily drifts inside and can affect the entire dining area and bar. For those with allergies, sensitivities, or anyone who simply prefers not to eat surrounded by cigarette smoke, it can really take away from an otherwise great experience. A designated smoking area farther away from the entrance would go a long way toward making this already awesome place even better. Overall, Blackie's is a fantastic spot with great food, a fun atmosphere, and definitely worth stopping by!

Unfortunately this trip as far as food fell extremely short for all of us. There was some good on this trip. It is still a cool little spot on 67. Brittany was very attentive. Kept drinks filled and frequent checks on us. Now for the bad. Nobody liked their meals. Burgers and sandwiches had no flavor at all. Tater tots, fries and the overly cooked/burned onion rings had no flavor. When a child tells you the chicken fried chicken in a sandwich was hollow and tasted like air that says a lot. It's almost like they didn't care about the food that is served. Really disappointed because we don't get in that area much anymore and looked forward to going back. The neon signs, brick walls, and interesting decor make this a unique place to visit, and honestly a great place to grab an Instagram picture. The bartenders are knowledgeable and have great recommendations. They offer cocktails, beer and wine, and coffee and tea. I haven't had the coffee here so I can only comment on the bar. The drinks are pretty pricy for Waco (~$10), so going here for me is an experience thing. I have tried the Faerie Fire, which the bartender told me tasted like a strawberry moscow mule, and he was right! What's interesting about it is that there is cayenne in it, so some spice hits the back of your throat. I have also had their Tom Collins and enjoyed it. It's a pleasant, refreshing drink. I tried the Jungle Bird and the Pink Flamingo and they weren't really my thing, but my friends have enjoyed them. I think the key to going here is knowing what you like. The best part about One Day is all of the outdoor seating. Especially during covid, when barhopping is pretty much out of the question, this place has been a refuge for drinks with friends. They have six picnic tables out front, where the Yaki food truck is typically stationed (SO GOOD, must try!), and they also have several two-top tables in a little "alley" past the picnic tables between two buildings. Instagram tip: there's a neon sign out there if you wanna grab a pic! It's also nice because the experience hasn't changed because of covid like it has at other bars. I think everyone can find something they like at One Day. Try it out!

The location alone makes it worth a visit, with beautiful views of the water and a relaxed atmosphere that's perfect for spending an afternoon or evening outdoors. One of the standout features is the outdoor music stage. It is perfectly positioned near the river, and they consistently seem to bring high-quality bands to town. If you enjoy live music, this is one of the best venues in the area. The combination of great music, river views, and an outdoor setting creates a fun and memorable experience. The seating options are spread throughout the property, with tables and chairs on the deck overlooking the river as well as additional seating closer to the stage. Because the venue is popular, it can be challenging to find a seat near the stage during busy events, so arriving early is a good idea. The food was another pleasant surprise. We ordered the burger and a pizza, and both exceeded our expectations. The menu is casual, but the quality was better than we anticipated and paired well with a night of live music. The craft beer selection is somewhat limited, but the prices are reasonable and there are enough options to satisfy most visitors. One thing to keep in mind is that the venue is largely open-air. During the Texas summer, it can become uncomfortably hot, especially during the afternoon. Fortunately, the atmosphere and river breeze help make up for it once the sun starts to go down. Overall, this is an excellent place for live music, drinks, good food, and socializing with friends while enjoying beautiful river views. It has a laid-back Texas Hill Country feel that makes it one of Glen Rose's most enjoyable gathering spots.
