I was with my crew party of 6 last Friday night 3/27 walked in to a full house at 7pm. Got on the list. To the bar where we squeezed in these cats were busy folks !!!Ivanna and Kevin were awesome handling my heavy drinking friends we out on the back porch area getting drinks thru the window out there. Like I said Kevin was really good, Id so poach that guy if I was in the bar biz. Finally got a table after about 20 mins, like I said they were BUSY. This is a great restaurant should you find yourself out in the middle of nowhere - or Walnut Springs - Which is kinda the same thing. Clean - New - Well Run - Staff is great - Bar is great. Chip and Salsa are good - Every Mexican place should start out here. Queso is very good also. I had the Walnut Springs Enchiladas on my first visit - Very Good! I had the Baha Mahi Fish Tacos on my second visit. I later visited with someone at an event that also had the Fish Tacos - we both said the same thing. Not what you expect when they serve your plate - but really, really good. Graham Elliot was there doing a book signing on the 2nd trip. Me and my wife went since Graham Elliot from Master Chef was there doing a book promo. Was a little disappointed that he wasn't cooking like we thought, but what little disappointment I had was quickly eliminated once I tried their food. Its hard to find good Tex Mex in this region of Texas, but they nailed it! We sat in the bar area and it was awesome. Great classic rock music playing and college football on the TV. I had the beef fajitas and wife had the fish tacos. Both were excellent! Beef was very tender and seasoned well, tortillas were fresh, and beans and rice were equally as good. Also came with pico, sour cream, and guacamole. Tried the fish from my wife's meal and it was just as great. We also had their house frozen margaritas and you could tell they use quality ingredients and no crappy cheap mixer. We also had an order of their queso which we also loved. The staff were all awesome as well. From being greeted upon entry and when we were leaving to our waitress who couldn't have done a better job. 5 stars! Honestly this should be a 4.5 star rating, but I can only do 4. We were a 4 top at the bar and we really enjoyed the experience. The service was great. The feel of the place was quaint, but energetic and fun. Amazingly good margaritas. The guac and chips were on point. The chicken enchiladas with the sour crème sauce were amazing. The mahi fish tacos were off the chart. The beans are great. The fajita chicken, shrimp and sausage were killer. The beef on the fajita plate was missing flavor. But the ONLY reason I'm giving it 4.5 is SALSA. The house salsa was a let down! Tasted like Pace. Also.... They need some sauces. Like habanero, spicy verde, mango, etc.... But they pull off really quality Mexican food... We just need a quality house salsa. We will be back though! read more

Full transparency: I'm a bartender at the cantina. That said, I still eat there as much as possible! Walnut Springs NEEDED a good, consistent restaurant with flavor and people who care! The margarita recipe is top notch, and we juice all of our citrus fresh, and make our Sweet & sour fresh each shift. The fish tacos and fajitas are impossible to beat. Decided to dust off the Harley and take a ride down to this spot that's been on our list since they opened... and we weren't disappointed! We've been here 3 times. Enjoyed the food all 3 times. This last visit we ordered margaritas which was our original recipe (not expensive alcohol) and not on the menu (with Lalo tequila and Jalisco orange combo). They accommodated our drinks but did not mention any extra costs. When checking out it ended up costing us $19 total for each drink in which we were charged an extra $3 per drink not being listed on their menu. Again this extra cost was not mentioned. The margaritas were also small and not the jumbo size. Had we known the drinks would have cost that much we would have not ordered them. $19 is crazy for a small margarita. Beer and soft drinks have prices on the menu but alcoholic drinks have no price so it's a mystery. We will definitely not be ordering drinks at this establishment in the future. Again food and service was great but just be careful with possible high prices of alcoholidrinks. read more

Absolutely phenomenal!! The food was impeccable and certainly did not disappoint! The arrangement of Tex-Mex items while also providing breakfast options was an excellent choice. Despite the restaurant being busy by the time my boyfriend and I came in, our waitress made sure to serve and value the time we were there. We've been driving for years through Walnut Spring (WS) traveling from Houston to Granbury. I've always considered WS as turn in the road with a speed limit change. When I heard JC Wolf talk about the new developments in WS on his Saturday morning radio show, it made me want to stop and check things out. Well, we were in the Brownwood area (about 75 miles from WS) and changed our route back to Htown to make a stop in WS. We ate at the Bosque Cantina. It was a quite mid Wednesday afternoon. We had the Enchiladas and a Wague Burger. The presentation when delivered was so good, I hated to mess up the plate. The food was every bit as good as the presentation. The staff (Katie) was on point and supper nice. It's well worth the drive/stop. The atmosphere was excellent. They have put a lot of work into this Cantina and the surrounding WS area. Afterward we checked out the warehouse behind the Cantina to check out the cars through the windows. I'll make the trip again on one of their upcoming events. read more

The food is good but the amount is way too little for the price! They skimp on what they put on your plate and in some menu items!

We ate dinner Saturday night on their third day open. While there were (understandably) a few minor glitches, it was all hands on deck working hard for things to go smoothly. It's not often you see executives and owners/chefs busing tables and delivering food. We were impressed. The guacamole and queso with beef was great as were the chips. I had the steak fajitas and my husband had the cheese enchiladas. The steak was absolutely delicious and very tender. The enchilada sauce was dark and rich. Very authentic! We loved it! They don't have their liquor license yet so it's byob, (there's a liquor store next door if you forget). They graciously put our beer and wine in the fridge for us. I only gave four stars because I know they will only get better. We will be back. read more
