Table we were seated at to eat.
Larry W.

Wife and I stopped in hoping for a big boy salad bar but that's extinct. Walked to men's bathroom door was locked. I waited a couple minutes and a young man, red haired ponytail, come walking out with a bucket of cleaning supplies. I walked in noticed nothing was clean, toilet seat itself looked like pooh was on it so I decided to just wash my hands... no paper towel to dry hands, empty. Dude with red hair, did you just go stand in there? Ordered our food which was good, no complaints at all and had a great waitress. I told her about the bathroom she later stated she went and put paper towel in the men's bathroom. In the mean time young red headed ponytail dude was acting like he was sweeping the floor in front of patrons, problem is he was leaving everything on the floor he finally disappeared. Take a look at the cleanliness under the table we were seated at. I am now left to wonder what the kitchen looks like. Will not return based on this alone. I task the owner(s) of this Big Boy in Traverse City what they are paying red hair ponytail dude to do besides turn away customers but more importantly what is your on site manager being paid for? He was there overseeing nothing. This was on Sunday the 5th of March around 1500 hrs.

I had a brunch here consisting of the Big Boy Classic Combo. It was my first time here, we don't have this in Las Vegas where I live so I made it a point on my trip here to try it. It was a nicer and more filled version of a Big Mac from McDonalds. I barely scanned the menu since I was half dead from hunger and only later learned there was a Rueben on the menu. The burger was good and I felt full, but I'd be lying if there wasnt a twinge of buyers remorse when I think of the Rueben (Fucking love those sandwiches) Anywhoo shits good try it and tip your waitress good. Don't be a rub and tip less than 20%.

Humble place. Terrific variety menu and fun overall time. It even has its local funko pops and iconic story.

Food was cold, omelette had an unusual smell, hash browns were raw and onions in omelette were uncooked. Would not recommend.

Slabtown is an…read moreabsolute 'must' for any burger lovers visiting TC; especially in the summertime when you can sit outside on their porch or surrounding patio. It's an old house that has been transformed into a burger destination. The inside is cramped, especially in the order area when they're busy, and indoor seating is tough to come by at peak times. The service has never been anything short of excellent on our visits. The staff is welcoming, helpful, patient, and friendly. Service is quick, even when they're slammed. Phenomenal burgers, O-rings, tots, and sweet potato fries. The Northwood's DRAFT (not fountain) root beer is a perfect pairing with their burgers. Slabtown's menu of specialty burgers is enormous and the BYO options include different protein choices and excellent GF buns. I've tried many of their burgers, but have to say that the Slabby Patty on a pretzel bun and the Pungi's Pepper Patty really stood out as a couple of my favorites. For a really sinful (and unhealthy) treat, ask for the gravy tots. Oh brother...insanely good but definitely a guilty pleasure. We've sent tons of our friends and family here, and I can tell you that every one of them has thanked us for the recommendation and raved about their burgers. So what are you waiting for? Get yourself to Slabtown!

The eggs were perfectly cooked, the thick-cut bacon was delicious, and the candied jalapeños added just the right amount of sweet heat. Combined with the relaxed outdoor seating, friendly service, and beautiful Sunday morning atmosphere, it made for the perfect casual breakfast. We'll definitely be back and highly recommend giving the Cherry Javelina Sandwich a try while it's available!

This burger has Candied Bacon, Pepper Jack Cheese, Grilled Poblanos, Lettuce, Grilled Onions, Chipotle Bbq sauce. The burger was very good. However it's not the best burger I've had in TC. The candied bacon was good, but not candied enough. There also wasn't enough of the bbq sauce. The quality of meat was good, but again wasn't the tastiest I've had in TC. The burger is definitely worth getting with the caveat that it isn't exceptional. The burger comes with Great Lake Potatoes Chips, due to they give you a pond of fries if you order fries. I didn't. I did order a Chocolate Shake ($9). It is a thick shake and reminds me of a Frosty, just more chocolaty. I enjoyed it, but I love frostys. The service was enthusiastic and friendly. Overall a solid 4 star review. Would I return? Yes, I would. Sometimes you crave a smash burger and this definitely hits that bill. Definitely worth a visit.

The Oliver (triple) was exactly what I'd been craving in a Michigan-style olive burger. The pimento olive spread was generously slathered on to the crispy lacey-edged smash burger patties topped with Swiss cheese on a nicely toasted brioche bun. The olive spread was perfect...just enough to be bursting with flavor, but not so overpowering that it dominated the entire burger. The fam tried The Junction and The Laura, both on lightly toasted Gluten Free buns. The Junction (Glendale's version of the classic Oklahoma onion burger) was very good, and the GF bun was met with positive reviews. Glendale even offers GF fries, which were excellent (their normal fries are seasoned & battered; but the GF fries were a bit better). If you're looking for a thicker, juicier burger, this is not your place. These are straight up paper thin, crispy smashers. And if that's what you're looking for, I'd recommend no less than a double, if not a triple. Drink selections include bottles of various Northwoods sodas, sparkling water, and other choices from the cooler. Glendale presents as an old-school diner, with cool decorations and some posters of Saginaw heritage (the owner's roots). Speaking of the owners...the lady working the register and delivering food to everyone was one...and she was super sweet and nice. It made for a great experience right out of the gate as we were figuring out what we wanted to order. You walk up to the counter and order, then they deliver to your table; or you can sit on a stool at the counter, just like a classic diner. Plenty of seating, but when they get busy, it fills up quickly, yet the service remains fast for the cooked-to-order burgers & fries. Décor is fun (they have a Big Boy!) & fitting for the diner vibe. The entire place is extremely clean and well kept. Pride of ownership shines through in the entire experience.
