I needed 2 services from big apple fireplaces , a total inspection and cleaning of my fireplace and a fire heating system inspections , I got both and I am happy with both . Call them Tuesday, they showed up Thursday and in less then 3 hours job complete and rates are reasonable. Safety is a priority and carbon monoxide poisoning is no joke so make sure your fireplace , chimney, heating system , etc, is inspected, cleaned , serviced, repaired yearly or when law requires it . Big apple fireplaces company gets 4.5 stars on my yelp meter. read more

Went to this place in March to get some accessories for my Big Green Egg (BGE) that was arriving two days later. Sales associate, while nice, couldn't have been any less interested in upselling or even selling me anything to with said Egg. Simply asked "is there anything else?" and moved on (I was the only person in the store the entire time). Personally, if someone told me they had made this kind of purchase I would have been upselling them the entire store! Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I needed to make a warranty claim for a replacement part. I followed Big Green Egg's process, got approval, then forwarded my email approval to Joe at this location asking for him to let me know when the part is ready for pickup. He simply replied asking if I had purchased it there (I have purchased directly from BGE and it was randomly fulfilled by another store), and when I told him this he stopped replying altogether. Over the course of the next few days I reached out again and still no reply. As a GOLD dealer for BGE (the second highest tier, I believe), they should be well aware that warranty claims can be fulfilled with ANY authorized dealer (which they are). After some back and forth with BGE directly, and proof that Joe was basically ghosting me, BGE is now breaking protocol and sending me the part directly. It's really a shame though, because I'm new to owning this incredible piece of equipment, live 15 minutes away from this place on foot, have plenty of disposable income, etc., but the team there has zero interest in trying to be helpful or keeping my business. Hopefully others have a better experience with this store, but for me I'll happily give my money to other authorized dealers of Big Green Egg. read more

The selection was decent, the staff was not knowledgeable nor did they show any interest in this customer. As a BBQ & Smoker person, I expect to learn something every time I visit an interesting specialty shop, but not here. If you know exactly what you want, go here, if you need some knowledge before making a decision, go elsewhere. read more

Walking in on a Saturday, No one greeted me :o/ Hung around the store for about 10 minutes about 3-4 people around some were in the phone some were not. Waited a bit but no one approached me, not even a how are you doing, is their anything I can help you with, nothing , Zero Zelch, Nada :o/ I swear I could hear Crickets every time I made a pass so they can acknowledge me. I wanted to flock my feathers, Chirp, even did a back an forth dance like and exotic bird trying to mate, still no response :o/ So I walked out the store and not even a Thanks for visiting or good bye :o/ I felt like an Exotic bird who failed to impress their mate, Sad and Awkward :o/ They do have a very nice selection of Ceramic Kamados, Even the Weber Summit Charcoal as well as all the Webber Kettle Models, Lots of Stainless Steel Gas Grills from high end to More Middle Class Budget. Just no Customer In Store Service :o/ What's the point of buying from them, if they don't even acknowledge your a potential lifetime loyal Customer l. read more

UPDATE @ 1:25pm ET - Joe, the supervisor at Big Apple BBQ & Fireplace, calls me (phone call screenshot below) and asked if I can take down this review. I told him no, because this situation hasn't been resolved. He then, get this....CURSES ME OUT, calls me a FUCKING ASSHOLE, says I'm probably at home jerking off and that I'm a fucking idiot!!! I CANNOT MAKE THIS UP! Glad I recorded that call with an app I have on my iPhone, because after I'm finished with them, this business will be DONE!!! Terrible customer service and a true waste of my time! Placed an order Wednesday morning, was told I'd be guaranteed a delivery today, Thursday morning. Called the company this morning after no one showed up during the 8-10am window. Was informed that a truck was late and would arrive in 1-2 hours at my home. Received a call back 12 minutes later, telling me the delivery would need to be rescheduled to tomorrow. I informed them that was NOT an option and I was told it would be delivered today and I expected it today. DO NOT waste your time, money or energy with this company. They are quick to take your money, then fail to deliver results. During this time when businesses are struggling, they have shown that they do NOT care about customers or delivering great service during this time. Do yourself a favor, pass this business by and support a different company during this time. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! read more

I Ordered 2 propane tanks on June 20th delivered to my home. The guy said he can make it the day after. The day after nothing happened. I waited 1 more week. No one showed up. On June 28th I called them. A nice lady said she's not sure what went wrong, but she'll make sure to send someone the day after. The day after no one showed up. Called again on June 30th and asked them to cancel my order. They cancelled it right away and issued a refund. I told the guy on the phone I'm very disappointed. He said there were 3 attempts to deliver the propane tanks. I told him it's impossible since I work from home and always here. I told him to check his Yelp page since I'm going to post a review. His response? "Oh, you're one of those scumbag clients. Go F*ck yourself" and he hung up on me. Great service! read more

These guys are fantastic, My husband and i where greeted soon as we walked THRU the door by Damian he was very knowledgeable and patient with us answering every question we had . We spent over an hr and half trying to decide on which grill we wanted. We didn't feel pressured at any point and Damian gave us all the time in the world to decide. We walked out with The XL Big Green Egg Bundle along with some extra accessories. We had a very minor difficulty putting it together at home but again Damian was very helpful with pointers helping us resolve our issue. We would definately go back top make another purchase and definately recommend this for all your grill and fireplace needs. Even the owner/manager was very pleasant and honest. Overall love the store and the staff. Thanks guys where ready to 'Smoke it up' pun intended. read more

Terrible company with an owner that does not get back to folks. I would not recommend this company to anyone as they are simply not honest and charge work that they did not do. They showed up, after seeing pictures, said, they could not do it and charged my card. After week of trying to get in touch to try to pay for the teams time for showing up I will not challenge the entire charge though my CC company. These guys, simply put, are dishonest business folks, AKA jerks. read more

Fantastic Customer service! These guys are so nice! First off, they tried to help me troubleshoot my fireplace over the phone so they wouldn't have to come out and charge a service fee. Well, they did need to come out anyway and not only did they fix the issue in less than an hour, the gentleman printed out a manual for me since I didn't have one. Thanks guys! read more

I was referred to Big Apple by a coworker for propane delivery, but was having grill issues. I reached out and spoke with Joe, who went above and beyond by helping me troubleshoot my grill issues which I hadn't even purchased from him! He was kind, helpful, sent me a tank the next day, and needless to say, I'm now a very happy and loyal Big Apple Customer. Thanks Joe and Team! read more

From the moment we walked in the door the staff were super helpful and took us through all the different grills that met our criteria. Couldn't have gone any better. After shopping around many places and getting discouraged by pricing I came across Big Apple on the Internet. From my first call to Tony, to my first visit in the store with Joe and the last visit with both Tony and Joe everything was professional and courteous. Install went perfect. The installers where professional, courteous and left everything spotless. Thanks again. We will be back. Robert and Kara Volpi read more

Owner is nasty, condescending and abrupt. I walked out before I could let him spew one more nasty comment my way while inquiring about a product. Get a life. read more

Rude owner. Refused to show me the finish of the item I wanted to buy even though he did not have anything on display. His take it or leave it attitude was a huge turn off. Don't bother with them, there are plenty of other places you can go to get the same products. read more

I used Big Apple BBQ to service problems that I was having with my direct vent fireplace (that was installed by a competitor) . The tech they sent solved a nagging issue and took time to educate me so I now have some knowledge to deal with problems if they come up again, which I really appreciate. On time, professional, courteous. I will use this company again. read more

This is an amazing shop and had exactly what I have been coveting for years: The Big Green Egg! Not only was the owner Joe super friendly and helpful, he was also very knowledgable about the Egg itself and how you use it. Its a bit different from other kettle grills and takes some know-how and practice to use. He had all the 'egg'cessories one could want and they were very prompt with their delivery to my house and assembled it for me as well. If you are looking for a great place to buy grills, charcoal and accessories for backyard cookouts, look no further than Big Apple BBQ! read more

Fantastic place to buy grills, wood chips, BBQ sauce, grilling cookbooks, etc. They also sell pizza ovens and outdoor kitchens. Excellent customer service, best prices, and knowledge sales staff. I'm so glad I chose them. read more

I've used Big Apple for years for servicing my barbecue. Just last week I bought a brand new very expensive barbecue. I suspected new owners and I was right. What a difference. Hands down, best and prime service in Big Apple. And forget the internet stuff for order a grill, they have very competitive prices and better service (e.g. the Weber monster came fully assembled!!!). They got that grill to me in Manhattan in like no time, super speedy. Thanks to Tony and Aldo for outstanding service and friendliness with a challenging customer. Unlimited recommendation. read more

This place does everything the right way. It is so rare to get truly excellent service at a retail store anymore that when you get treated right it is a surprise. They have the selection, the knowledge and most importantly the right attitude about the customer. Bought a Big Green Egg there and I love the product. Also loved my conversations with the staff about the product. They have taught me a few tricks and they have every single thing that you want to enjoy eating outdoors. There are not enough Yelp stars to give this place. read more

If you are in the market for a grill this season, this is the place to go to. Went yesterday to purchase a new grill for the summer. I was excited to learn of their new location on Astoria Blvd, as it's closer to me than their old place on 42st. The staff was kind and friendly from the minute I walked in there. It was early afternoon, and two hours later, I had a brand new grill set up in my backyard. Not only were they quick in getting to me, but the guys who dropped off my grill both set up and tested it for me (sans food). I honestly couldn't ask for more from them, and I'll be happy to shop there for accessories and more propane in the future. Five stars! read more

I was able to get a fully assembled grill with propane delivered two days after calling for less than the price of the chain stores or amazon. It's a local one stop shop with friendly people and great service. Highly recommend! read more

We ordered a grill from Big Apple, and the delivery came on the following day. The service couldn't be better - fast, efficient, and friendly. We even got a mini lecture on what to do with the grates. This happened after a fiasco of ordering a grill from Amazon, finding faulty parts while assembling the beast and having to deal with returning the 130 lb box. So if you need to order a grill, or propane, talk to Big Apple (and stay away from Amazon). read more

This review is a follow up to the previous review of 5 months ago. Back in June my husband and I went to Big Apple to start the wheels moving on bringing our dream of having a fireplace to fruition. After meeting Joe, Tony and Paul we knew this was the place to make it happen! Well, our fireplace is complete!!! We have no words to describe our experience with Big Apple. They are professional, gracious, talented and have superb customer service!! Paul saw our vision from the beginning and his team of Jesus, Chris and Dave were always on time, extremely neat and talented. They did everything possible to make our vision of our fireplace come to pass and come to pass it did. It's rare when you have a vision for something that it comes out exactly the way you want it to but it did!! Our new fireplace is PERFECT AND BEAUTIFUL!!!! We can't thank them enough for making our dream come true!!! We highly recommend Big Apple!!! read more

Truth be told, this is the first time I have written a review on yelp. We had been looking for a grill for many months and ultimately decided we needed to go to a showroom and take a close up look at some options. We were reluctant initially to drive from Brooklyn to East Elmhurst, but upon arrival at Big Apple, it was immediately obvious that we had made the right decision. The showroom was huge and the grills were very nicely merchandised. Joe and his team could not have been more professional and knowledgeable. I would tell anyone in the market for a grill to definitely visit Big Apple! Like many other reviewers, I would also give the overall experience an A+. read more

I ordered a Weber gas grill from Big Apple over the phone. Not only was my salesman knowledgeable on the product but helped me select the right model and accessories that I needed. What a great experience! It was finally time to buy my first Weber Grill & I wanted to see some diff choices - They had a really nice showroom, everyone was very helpful, and they knew all of the grills & features inside & out. I have to say that I was really impressed with the delivery experience (which was free and the free assembly prior to delivery). The guys were flexible with my schedule, they called the day before to confirm the delivery, and most importantly they arrived on time. The delivery guys handled a tricky flight of steps for me and got it right into the backyard! It was a bit of a challenge but the guys didn't complain & handled it like real pros! My new Weber (Summit E-420- AMAZING) fired right up & was ready to go! Overall everyone at Big Apple was very nice & totally reliable! Amazing new grill just in time for the 4th!!!! read more
