A cute shop in the midst of a small shopping center, traffic in the area is pretty busy. An ideal location with plenty of places to stop in for a quick bite. The baskets of bagels on the wall reminded me of the bagel shops from my trip, and the variety feels endless, The cream cheese options were limited but highly recommend the chive and onion spread for a delicious savory bagel. I've tried the pizza bagel and cheese bagel with chive and onion cream cheese and boy was it worth it. The toasted bagel, loaded high with cream cheese made for a perfect bagel. I checked out Big Apple Bagels since I was in the area. I ordered 3 Asiago bagels, 2 Parmesan bagels, and 1 jalapeño cheddar bagel. The Parmesan bagels were the perfect texture, but the Asiago bagels were chewier than what I normally prefer. They didn't have the cheddar bacon cream cheese that I had originally wanted to get, so I picked the scallion cream cheese. The scallion cream cheese did have a lot of scallions which I enjoyed. While the Parmesan bagels were pretty tasty, the overall experience didn't quite stand out enough for me to go out of my way to return. read more

I so wanted this place to be good. Chewy bagels, and not the NYC kind of chewy. I asked for double toasted and I'm not sure they toasted it at all. Made the bagel with cream cheese only on one side. Thinnest tomato slice ever. Definitely would not recommend it for bagels, but I gave it two stars just in case some of their other food is good because it wouldn't fair to give them one star (even though the place has bagel in their name!). This place seems to be a bit hit or miss, the shopping center that it is located in, makes it a bit hard to spot from the road, the staff here is pretty friendly and its normally pretty clean here. They have a decent bagel selection as to be expected, and their price is pretty good for what you get. The bagels are "ok" a bit doughy tasting, but when you are expecting ok and not great, its perfect! I came across this place completely by accident and boy am I glad it happened. Let's start with Bernice, the owner. So sweet, nice, and welcoming. I got the Mediterranean bagel with cream cheese on an everything bagel. I don't think I've ever been so impressed with a bagel. This hit the spot perfectly. I got the combo which came with a drink and a choice of chips or 3 mini muffins. I decided to try the mini muffins. All 3 were fantastic but the one that truly stood out is the pineapple cheesecake mini muffin. It was so good that before I left, I ordered a dozen more to take back to the office. While talking to Bernice, I also found out the bagels are made fresh daily. Honestly, you can tell. They taste fresh and feel fresh. Highly recommend you go. I can't wait to come back! read more

Nice spot right next to the freeway exit with a good size parking lot. There's chairs inside if u want to eat there but I notice most people are just in and out. Ordered this place on DoorDash the other morning and it was so delicious! I got one of the lunch bagel sandwiches on a jalapeño cheddar bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. The star of the show was the three muffins we got: chocolate cheesecake, cherry cheesecake, and Boston cream pie. I'm not a huge muffin person, but these were so moist and melted in your mouth. Check your charges. I noticed that I'd been far over charged. When I called, the manager, Rick, told me he'd just heard the same thing from another customer and suggested I input my PIN on the tip screen to account for the extra charge. My PIN, when used as a sum added to the amount I was meant to have been charged, did not add up, debunking this. Furthermore, I remembered the tip screen and had put zero because I'd added cash to the tip jar. Rick informed me I had to come in for a partial refund. So I motored the twenty minutes over, and he doubled down when I arrived, now stating that I'd absentmindedly typed in the total amount on the tip screen. Perhaps if I didn't remember quite so clearly, I could give the benefit of the doubt that I'd been wrong here, but, alas. He said he always sees this, but when I mentioned a new card reader because this seems like a thorn in his side, he replied, "Not really, it happens maybe once in 500 customers." Oh really, Rick? Sounds like at least 2 in 500, considering he just told me it had happened to another lady the same day. These statements are incongruent. Which is it? It happens all the time or not often at all? He enacted a demonstration of how it happened by showing how the tip screen reads, but it only reinforced my memory of putting a zero there. He made sure to mention that they cannot change the charges after customers leave, but all I have is his word on that, and since he'd already contradicted himself, I can't really go based on that. This very well could have been an honest mistake, but the customer service was off-putting. He did refund the overcharge, but the attitude was as dry and offensive as the mini muffins. On top of it all, the bagels were tiny and stale, so no love was lost. I will not be back. read more

It's become our family tradition to come here in the morning every father's day and mother's day. We absolutely love all of the variety of bagels and shmears that you can get. So happy I discovered them on doordash!! I've now sampled several different things...everything they make is delicious. The bagels are freshly baked, and they taste (& smell) amazing. Cream cheese is light & fluffy. I'm surprised how much I liked the flavored ones, since I usually stick with plain. My husband and I have been in several times to get bagels and I've had to check my bagel order every single time until they finally got to know us and then it seemed like it was getting better however we've had to order over the phone the last few times and For example I ordered an onion bagel with garden cream cheese and sliced tomatoes and they gave me a garlic bagel slapped with a little bit of cream cheese and an old tomato slice on top. Under new management: the service is very personal and also quick! The quality is not up to par to a real New York bagel, but it's the best of what North County can do. This place is just OK. The bagels are small and not that great. I ordered a muffin last time I was there and it was very stale, like maybe it had been sitting out for a couple of days even. I really want to like this place because it is the only bagel shop in San Marcos and I love bagels so very much. If you want a real bagel, you have to go to Garden State bagels in either Carlsbad or Encinitas, or to I LOVE BAGELS in Oceanside. I primarily came here to try the lox and cream cheese bagel as it is very nostalgic. Never went to this place and decided to give it a shot. The proportions were just right: enough salmon, enough cream cheese. The capers or onion was not over powering. I chose the everything bagel which complimented the whole sandwich. I also like how they separated the two slices versus making it into a sandwich. After a day of rain and a bagel from Big Apple Bagels, this brought me back to my days in Seattle, which was well worth it. 5 out of 5 stars as I would come back here tomorrow if I could.
