I can always count on my neighborhood sporting good store for soccer and baseball needs for my grand kids . Big 5 right around the corner from my home. I usually find good deals on cleats and other accessories for each sport. This location seems to have a good stock of everything. Sometimes racks are cluttered, shelves and racks are too close to one another, and shoes racks/tables are messy. Walking in, as I pass the register area, I feel racks galore. Perhaps, re-organization of racks and create more space between them will appear not so overwhelming. Staff at register are friendly and staff on the floor are helpful. I came in go get some soccer cleats for my son. Thinking we'd be in there for 5-10 mins and we ended up being there for 30-40 mins. There were four workers and they were very slow at helping, mind you it was not busy at all in the store. The last straw was asking for a shoe size and no one coming back for 10 mins. At that point, I left with nothing and decided to go to the Big 5 Sporting Goods at Las Americas and they helped me the second I arrived into the store. Very disappointed in the Saturn Blvd store. Salesperson SIERRA is so rude. Got bothered when I asked questions and giving me a smart @ss answer. I handed my id then sierra tossed the fishing license on the counter. Big 5 customers dont ask Sierra any questions, just pay and leave. Great customer service. At least she volunteered to ring me up. her manager which was next to her. Manager didn't acknowledged me or offered to help or even mentioned that sierra will ring me up when i asked both of them a question. She continued to hang clothes. read more

What a great store. Don't know why I never visited my local Big 5 but it's a must. This store has everything and lots of great prices and good sales. Came in looking for a pair of baseball pants for my son and got an unpleasant Manager and cashier gossiping about staff other staff. I Walked to register to ask if I could order the pants I did not find "No we dont do that" ugliest attitude. Than, I decided to buy a baseball tshirt paying for it I said to the register girl "Thank you, have a nice day" she responded with such bad attitude "I'll try". Poor girl I honestly felt for her she obviously is unhappy with her job and def. Lacks customer service skills. I feel for that particular store they lack customer service and with that kind of attitude there's no way they will get customer's to come back. I wont be going back, it's unfortunate!! as much as I would like to support a store that has been opened for decades... read more

Went there to check out the workout gear and didn't want to travel in to San Diego. This is in the back of the mall area and has ample parking. They are not nearly the size of a Dicks but have a little bit of everything. Some areas were pretty much out of stock which o suppose is the somewhat new normal. While the staff greeted me upon entrance there wasn't much help in the floor. The gun counter was manned and they have a decent selection of rifles and small arms. Still crazy to me the hurdles you have to jump through to buy ammo....but they had everything squared away if you were so inclined. Bottom line. I'll be back if I need any outdoor gear. read more

So I'm not sure if it's just this big five or big five in general... But they seem to never have what I'm looking for. And the store is a little bit small. Also, the staff never seem to be too enthusiastic about working there. I asked for help and they kind of point you in the general direction instead of walking you to the location. Come on people...the store is not that big, it won't take you too much effort to take me to the item. I don't know if it's just me, but everything seems to be so cluttered. So compacted it makes it challenging to find things. The one thing I do like however is the shoe selection. There is a wide variety of athletic shoes to choose from. And they have some pretty good sales. I mean big five is not a bad store, but is not a great store, it's just mediocre my opinion. Chances are they'll probably have what you're looking for but not a variety of items. Guess it just depends. I came today (3/11/17) to buy a couple fitness items. And there was a long line of about eight people. There were three people standing at the register but only one open. After several minutes of waiting I finally just put the item back and left. They were just talking and laughing amongst themselves. Soon as I walk out, one of them finally decides they want to get to work and opens up a register. By then it was too late. Sad. read more

So we were in here about 1-2 weeks ago with our newborn in her car seat, we went in to get some new workout gloves. My husband is a regular. We started to look at the clothes I ended up finding my son some shirts that were on sale. We proceeded to go back to get gloves, I'm feeding baby and someone came back and started browsing as well. Very quickly this other person just stood there next to us, I'm assuming it's a security person. Then a worker came back. We finished in the area moved to shoes, again another work came and just stood next to us. My issue with this is no one else was being bothered like this. I felt very racially profiled and uncomfortable. We ended up spending about $70 on 3/4 shirts and 2 gloves. I called corporate office to complain because this felt very wrong. Additionally, all The people I saw working were either white or mexican, no other races. I truly feel if you're black you shouldn't shop here. Big 5 you lost loyal customers due to racism. I hope this changes, people shouldn't have to go into a store and feel this way. read more

My 4 year old daughter needed cleats for soccer and this young salesman approached us and helped us find sizes in cleats. He also properly fitted my daughter for shin guards and reminded me that she would need long socks. He even wished her a "great season. Your passion for your job and/or love for soccer resonated with me and I hope that my daughter will have great experiences in the sport as you seemingly had-- sincerely, a mom who knows nothing about soccer. read more

My husband Tony & I were at BIG 5 sporting goods last week to pick up a pair of walking sneakers for me...Opie was our sales person. He was so helpful and great in sales and not pushy. I had a pair in mind with nice colors but he mentioned that the bottom would wear out on concrete. He measured my feet according to size, width and pressed the toe part to make sure it fits... I love my new pair of walking sneakers. Living in New York we did a lot of walking so here too. I will be back to shop and hope to get Opie as our sales person. read more

Big 5 is useful, it pretty much covers all the outdoors stuff and then some. Usually, it's more of a fishing/sports/camping/gun place. The airsoft guns there are okay, either more on the cheap end or strictly made for marksmanship type stuff.Really though, that pistol can't be shooting at 315 FPS stock, it's probably more of a 150-200 FPS or less.Plus, don't forget to buy goggles for eye protection. Lots of things to buy, but some are more pricey than what you could get elsewhere, and sometimes the staff doesn't help out quite that much. Apparently everyone was busy when I went, and it took 15 minutes just for me to ask if they had something in stock. Funny thing was, I was the only person there. Big 5 is the place to go if you need everything under one roof to buy in one big purchase.Just be sure to price check, might save a lot of time and money. read more

Found this place by accident while looking for hunting gear. I found what I was looking for but I know there are better stores out there. However, I was surprised by the great sales they had on workout gear. You may have a hard time finding staff anywhere to help out but I prefer to shop that way. read more

Meh. Nobody approached me at ALL during my visit here - and I was in there for about 40 minutes and the only area I didn't wander towards was the gun department. The girl at the register was really cheery though (mainly towards anyone in line though) and I was disappointed with their workout clothes selection - not much to choose from. ...Meh. read more

When I was here last I bought me some roller blades for fifty bucks and originally they were twice that, Love It!!!! A lot of the time Big 5 can be on the expensive side but if you really look around you can find some really good sales. read more

Is anybody here??? Never been to Big 5 before and someone recommended this store for cleets, as I've been long over due for new softball cleets. Went to the shoe area, had to go isle to isle searching for someone to assist. Then finished trying on shoes, no f/u to make sure everything was okay or if the shoes fit or anything. I had to search for someone to give the shoes I did not want back. (I hate leaving a mess for another person, so it was only right for me to put it back in someone's hand to be put up.) Although the prices were fair. The service could have been much better. read more

I went into the store looking for a pair of work boots, when I first entered I wasn't greeted by two attendants at the front register, However as I made my way to the section I was looking for Opie greeted me and helped my search for boots much easier, he helped me get some proper essentials to help maintain my purchase of the boots, his attitude was amazing and he also got a laugh out of me which made my time there a great experience, definitely going back because of this amazing customer service, thank you so much opie!! read more

I come,here for work shoes & hiking boots. Occasionally they have a sales rounder with something I can't leave without. Their prices range from good, better to best. Staff is usually available for help but with Covid you are pretty much escorted to the area your interested in & then to the check out area. read more

I was in there Friday Jan 3rd 2020 for a pair of hiking boots. The salesperson Eddie Cortez was absolutely helpful. He had some good suggestions on different boots and found my size immediately. And he didn't hover over me, gave me time to try on the different boots. And checked up on me every few minutes. Big 5 had the boots i was looking for at a reasonable price. Totally found this spot on an accident. Went inside its huge compared to other locations. What I was shocked was they had a lot of rifles in stock as most locations are picked dry. Also they had a large amount of ammo on hand not what I need but they had more then enough. Good location and everyone was friendly. read more

Today I went to this store to purchase a new pair of running shoes that I use for work. I burn through shoes like crazy because I do a lot of walking. I was looking for another brand than I normally buy when a very pleasant gentleman named Opie approached me and asked if I needed any help choosing what's best for my line of work. I informed Opie that I was really picky about my footwear and told him this may take a while. He instantly asked what kind of work I was in and lead me through a few choices he though would be best. This guy really knew his shoes!! Anyway, after only a couple of tries he helped me find the most comfortable shoes that I've had in years and taught me a cool new way to tie them that worked out great for what I needed!! I am still extremely impressed at the true professionalism Opie treated me with during my short visit there! Thank you Opie most sincerely for such an awesome experience at your store today sir! Decent selection for some items. I got a nice, inexpensive backpack here. For a sports store they seems to be missing a lot of basic sports goods though. I went here once to buy a soccer ball - couldn't find one. The quality of items that are here is decent though, but watch the prices. Some items will have great prices, while others will be grossly overpriced. read more
