So I have only been in the store for five times the first couple whatever it was just grabbing something and leaving the last time I had called because there was something on sale. I couldn't get over to get. I spoke with a wonderful girl don't remember her name she put the item hold i went the next day. She was really nice. today however I called and asked do you have the foam shooters earplugs yes we do so I go. I wait in line for Assistance and he says they're over there and just points to the back of the store so I go looking. I can't find them so I asked for help so he says he has to help the other person in the other line 1st even though there's a cashier there, she says oh no, I'm not ready runs outside. He still doesn't move. I'm like please. Can you help me find the A's you know over there wasn't very descriptive. I'm trying to get out of here. His name was Mason and he waited for the other lady to come back in the store rang her up and showed me where they were I went to the other clerk to get run up Asked, his name, Mason, with attitude thank you for the help. Have a nice day. read more

I stopped by the establishment this past weekend while driving up to lake tulloch in copperopolis and had a terrible experience. Me and my boyfriend were in the store for less than five minutes before one of store employees proceeded to ask my boyfriend if he was still shopping, when he said yes she then asked if she could hold onto the items that we were BUYING. I am not one to take things offensively or personal, considering we have the money to afford what we're purchasing. but with her demeanor, tone, and facial expressions, and the fact that out of everyone else in the store she only asked my boyfriend, that was the only way i could take it! She made my boyfriend feel very uncomfortable and out of place and was being very stereotypical. I have shopped at big 5 with my parents for years during my softball seasons when i was a child, and have always had respect for the store, since this encounter i have lost all respect! read more

I feel like if you went to a bigger city they might have what you are looking for. There inventory always seems low. The sale prices are still about average regular prices at better quality store. The customer service seems a bit off. I'm not sure if they are just lazy or rude, either way definitely not inviting. read more

Great service helping me find a sturdy backpack with a frame especially since it took a ladder to reach it. And it was on sale!

Will never return. I wore the mask to the sunglass kiosk. Literally no one else in the store but me and no one around. I took my mask off to try on the sun glasses and the older lady that works there begins lecturing me right away. Literally no one else in the store and I'm told I have to keep the mask on to try on the cheap sunglasses from the self service kiosk. Bravo our only Sporting Good store in town. read more

Full Gavin Newsom Facemask hit-squad police at this store. I made the mistake of entering the Oakdale Big 5 with my face mask slightly drooping...and the personality-less, angry appearing, ANTIFA-like, young ladies behind the counter swept into action. This pair obviously thought their face would crack if they smiled. The two failed Miss congeniality contestants where just as unfriendly upon my exit as they were of my entrance, spraying down the counter and credit card machine so quickly after I pulled my card from the machine, I could feel the overspray on my hands and forearms. Now, I could understand if there were a line of people behind me, but I was the only customer in the store! Note to Big 5 employees, if at all possible, spray down counter as customer approaches so that they feel the sanitizing is being done for their benefit...instead of the other way around. Just sayin' read more

I was in dire need of a new glove for my grandson & the sweetest cashier named Petra helped us so satisfied with my service!!!!

This is the closest Big 5 to me and let me tell you how awful this place is. Went in there last month and let me tell you about how awful the service was. First of all I waited 15 minutes in shoes just for to ask someone for help. All the employees were standing by the registers and then I ended up waiting another 15 just to get them. The lady (I think she was a manager cause she had keys on her) with grey hair had no sense of customer service. When I asked her for help she said she'll call another sales to help me in shoes just for her to stand in the back laughing with someone else. I've been to the one in Turlock and Modesto and let me tell you they have the best service. Don't recommend shopping at this location at all. read more

My wife and I went into the store for the first time yesterday just after 2 pm, and both shopped for a few things. When I went to check out I noticed the blonde woman at the register did not say hello or thank you to the customer ahead of me, and repeated the same non courtesy to me. I stepped over near the door and waited for my wife to check out, and again, no hello and no thank you. What ever happened to customer service procedures there ? Not the end of the world, but at the same time we wondered how a full grown adult woman could not have the awareness to acknowledge 3 customers in a row ? We are in our early 60's and are just a bit more accustomed to some semblance of common courtesy when we purchase from a business. Wont be back, AND thank you. read more

I was disappointed this time. I went to the shoe department and there was 3 male employee's standing right there. None of the 3 acknowledged me! None ever offered to help as I tried on 4 pairs of shoes. Unbelievably rude and definitely unprofessional. The only helpful person was the checkout cashier. If I was in Modesto, I would have walked out, but we're limited in choices in Oakdale. I will give this store another chance, otherwise I'll continue shopping in Modesto or Riverbank. read more

Rude, unhelpful staff. Limited selection (except guns). Go to K-Mart.

Bought our super last minute snow pants here on our way to snowboarding. Worked out great. :)

Eric the store manager gave me a corporate # that nobody answers. I do not usually write bad reviews. The extent of the unethical business practices leaves me no choice. I bought a $55 pair of shoes. I was told that if they went on sale within 30 days the difference would be refunded. The shoes are on sale 1 week later for $37. Eric told me that the offer does not apply to this type of sale. Please do not shop at big 5. Go across the street to K mart. read more

For my particular situation, this Big 5 had a good deal on both of the items I was shopping for. The initial transaction was very easy and enjoyable. However, upon assembly of the item, it was determined there was a manufacturer defect. I called before returning to the store with my item and was addressed very dryly about my options, and the item had just been purchased the day before. I decided to take the item back to the store in attempt of an exchange for a new one. Upon arrival, I was surprised about what a hassle it was for the customer service reps to exchange and or return this defective item, even with receipt in hand! Over the phone I was told there was another replacement to exchange for but according to Donovan, the manager, that employee was new and had misinformed me. It's a 25 min drive from Modesto where I live to Oakdale, just to patronize a business with such a rude and uninformative staff. I Would not recommend this Specific location for your purchases, unfortunately they've lost my business read more
