Came in to take the Firearms Safety Test and was told I was not able to due to their "policy". You're only able to take the firearms safety test at Big 5 if you purchase a gun through them & that's according to the Manager on duty Victor. Which is clearly not true bc a few of my coworkers & friends who obviously obtained their certificates through Big 5 say otherwise. Waste of time and speaking to Victor didn't help at all. DONT GO HERE for your firearms certificate, go somewhere else. read more

We've been almost all the Big 5 in LA.. thanks to my sister! Just stopped by randomly stop on the freeway. Great! Great! Great! customer service. My mother wanted a pair of good walking shoes.. David definately gave beyond great customer service with a sense of humor! The assistant manager, Erik was very hepful and friendly! He helped me called the stores in Torrance to check on products!! This is my go-to Big 5. I have never had an issue with anything, and upon visiting another location have found out....That the customer service is better. From a firearm to ammo and almost everything in between. I have gone for it all. I signed up for the email thing a while ago and always get great coupons and deal notifications. read more

This is my go to big 5 it's not that big but it has a bit of everything. The only problem i had was the entrance for wheelchairs or stroller in my case was blocked. The cashiers saw me trying to go in but no one helped or offered to help, I had to move the baskets and stand myself employees saw me do thisand did nothing or say nothing. read more

Went here on a Friday when they got their shipment of product in. Waited outside for 45 minutes or so before they opened at 9:30am. Not really anyone else in line which was surprising given the demand of work out equipment and camping gear. I went to purchase some Weider plates and they had plenty in stock. Only bummer is they weren't finished unloading the truck yet by the time they opened, but the young lad from the merchandise/inventory team was super polite and helpful as he wheeled out a lot of the weights in their boxes straight from the back. I grabbed what I needed, paid and he even helped me out to take them to my truck. Super friendly staff def reconvened this Big 5! read more

I am very disappointed I have not been out in almost 2 mouths and I finally decided to go to big 5 waited in line like everybody else with a mask or an employee named Vincent to come out and say we cannot go in so I walked away went to my car and as I walk to my car and sit in there he lives two younger girls in and an older lady when I went back to try to walk in then again said I was not allowed to go in because it's only pick up orders or curbside orders so I went back to my car and I see other people walking in she did not escort them out he did not tell them they have to leave they came out all happy with the purchase I don't know this person so he can be so rude bad enough I am not feeling well and made my blood pressure go crazy my anxiety get worse Instead of making people feel bad you guys should learn how to help others so disappointing I was just trying to buy some weights never felt so humiliated read more

I must say, Big 5 has been one of my forgotten gems over the years. I usually end up at Sport Chalet or other big mega sport stores these days, and this place actually has a good selection and some great prices. One thing that stands out about this location is that the staff were very nice and helpful compared the location in Cerritos. I bought some Heely's for my fiance's daughter this past Christmas and the price was better than online sales. WIN! Thanks Big 5, you deserve a HIGH 5 from Anna Banana! read more

This location is great! The store is big and clean. I was greeted and helped by two employees and the manager. The manager was a bit grumpy with several customers and some looked very irritated so im glad I didnt experience that. I came in looking for water shoes for me and I found a great deal $10.90 with tax. I just didnt find the bf's size so I had to go to another location. I will keep coming here. Customer service has always been ok but today was just irritating. I went in, in a rush, and knew the shoes I had wanted. We waited 23 minutes for the girl to bring out my size. As we were heading towards the entrance to LEAVE WITHOUT A PURCHASE, we saw the girl ringing up another customer. We spoke to her and she said she was handling another customer and that she would get back to me. I said don't worry about it and we left. I'm sure my time and money would be appreciated somewhere else. read more

I don't think I've ever had a bad experience at any Big 5 store. But today seems like the day! I walked in, nobody acknowledged me. The store had maybe 5 customers. Waited in the shoe section with every intention of purchasing 3-4 pairs of shoes. I waited a good 15-20min before someone came out of the stock room. I thought he was assisting a customer but he walked right past me, again did not acknowledge me or offer assistance. Finally another customer went to the register and requested service. An employee comes out of the stock room, gets the info on the 1 shoe this customer asked for, is gone for a few minutes, comes back out and asks customer which shoe he was looking for. He brings out the shoe in 2 different sizes and goes back behind that door. At that point another female employee comes out and asks me if I need a shoe. I say Yes, I need 3. She brings me one shoe, I ask her for the other 2, she turns to the male employee and starts telling him how these shoes on display are tagged wrong. She asks what size, comes back and tells me she doesn't have it. I ask if she can check other stores for me. She says yes and walks toward the register. I waited another 15min before walking up to the register and I see her walk past me, goes in to the stock room, has clearly forgotten she left me standing there. She comes back out laughing and messing around with her co-workers. I was extremely annoyed at this point. I walk up and say Hello to the cashier because she was just staring at me. She rings up my 1 pair of shoes and what do you know? They're not ringing up $54.99 like the sticker on the display. I tell her, she says no they are $59.99.. strike #3! I was ready to call a manager and complain. But because I was running late for an appointment, I pay and walk out. This store clearly needs major improvement in their customer service. read more

BAD FOR BUSINESS. great merchandise but very overpriced and there are female employees who have a bad attitude and need to be fired, it's bad business ethics. I used to work for this big 5 location many years back and I'm happy to see all those employees are gone. there was a bitch working there who was sleeping with the supervisor who was married by the way. think her name was danya. she had horrible eyebrows. all she did was make me and other people do her job and she just got paid. she stalked that guy til he got off because she would get off early and sit outside and just call him from her car. and this guy was lazy and incompetent. that place was a mess. they talked all day and that's why the store was a mess. I'm glad they fired me which was by the way some crap about me stealing which was a darn lie that girl made up! couldn't believe they fired me without any video or evidence. now adays it's pretty much the same so I see. still a mess but the newer managers and supers are very kind. it's just the females there need more customer service experience and need to stop giving attitudes to people spending money in their business. I made a complaint via email to their store site but never heard back from big 5. well that 400.00 I spent there will be my last. read more
