I took it to the store there, they showed me how it had been incorrectly reassembled and I took a photo. If the problem had happened while I was at any kind of speed, it could have resulted in serious injury. After ignoring my voice mail, I had a hard time getting him to look up from a magazine he was flipping through when I went by the store today. He refused any compensation for the bad repair, saying that I should have called him the day his repair failed -- I was in Vermont and it was not a day he is open! Even after showing him the photograph he refused to acknowledge his mistake. The repair was only a little over $40, so the compensation I was asking for was a pittance. So, he's sticking to his policies and has earned this 1 star review. Don't go there.

They are located right on the bike trail, which is super convenient. We rode from Northampton to Amherst for lunch and made a few stops along the way. The trails are great by the way. It was a 90 degree day, so having pedal assist was not only fun, but a much needed break. This means riders of all skill/fitness levels can enjoy the trails. I tried a used foldable bike and it was ok, maybe, but reminding me of how uncomfortable biking has been for me, not liking a ten speed riding position, balancing, seat height, handle bars awkward to reach, all the things that make me prefer walking! It had 6 speeds but no way to switch the gears. So wanting to follow their enthusiasm and tweak the seat height and the handlebar position we chatted awhile about all kinds of fun things with music, and riding as new gear switches and cables and magic transformed this potential bike into a sweet ride. It felt like a different bike- smooth, easy, I actually said out loud, "I Love it, sold." I love that they're nearby and if the bike needs any adjusting I can bring it to them. I visited this shop early on a Saturday morning. I had gotten a tune-up at a bicycle shop in the Greater Boston area in preparation of cycling Vermont Route 100, and picked up my bike on Friday night (the night before I planned to leave). When I brought it home (and after the shop had closed) I found that my bike's chain was making noise in certain gears. I tinkered around with the derailleur to try to fix the problem, but to no avail. I feared that my Vermont trip would have to be cancelled. I decided to try to find a shop in Brattleboro, my planned starting point, and selected this one because it opened the earliest. I visited there early on Saturday, explained the issue, and immediately was introduced to a mechanic (I asked for his name but have since forgotten it, unfortunately). He kindly and patiently explained what he was doing as he went through his evaluation to diagnose the issue, and invited me to stand alongside him to watch and learn. Within minutes, he deduced that the height of the derailleur was incorrectly adjusted by the previous mechanic, causing the chain to rub in high gear. He made the correct adjustment and it worked perfectly. Amazingly, he didn't even want to charge me more than $10, although I insisted on giving him that and then some for his help (and for basically saving my trip). I love cycling, but I know that visiting bicycle shops can be a frustrating process. Many bicycle mechanics seem to delight in making the customer feel ignorant. Here, the mechanic was not only skilled and instructive, but he was completely without pretension. It is a shame that I live more than two hours away from this shop, or it would be my default for repairs. As it turned out, the mechanic's adjustment on a Saturday morning ended up saving my cycling trip, and the bicycle has functioned perfectly since.

Took my bike there to get fixed and they replaced the rear derailleur but the same problem…read morehappened, caught in spokes and mangled it. Someone there really doesn't know what he is doing. You're rolling the dice here. When I brought it to the shop in Belchertown, he found that the front spokes were way too tight and the wheel was way out of true, the rear skewer was about 30 years older than the bike, so not the same skewer that was on it when I brought it to Valley, got the gear shifting problem solved with a new Acera derailleur and all the adjustments for less than $70.

They looked at my bike and gave it a quick adjustment for the alignment of the tires. I decided to buy a new kickstand that was not expensive and they installed it for free within 5 minutes. I've been a customer for about 3-4 years and bought my two recent bikes from them, a Jamis gravel…read morebike and a Giant mountain bike. Both were previous year leftovers and fairly priced (though neither time did they mention they were the previous year's model); the Giant was ever so slightly used, with upgraded pedals, seat and bar, in like-new condition but $250 cheaper than the current year's model and even better looking. I went for it and no regrets, the Giant looks and has run flawless. Both times an employee had come outside to help me, sized up my needs and directed me towards these two bikes. They scored a bull both times, very happy with the bikes. I've also been in for various things like tires tubes spokes and accessories and can say a few things about their service: One, they're very "covid conscious" and demand mask wearing in the store, well after everyone else has laxxed on masks. Two, they're not unfriendly in any way but I have yet to hear a "Can I help you" as I browse around. They never even seem to acknowledge I'm in the store until I ask them something. I'm personally ok with that but be aware thats how they roll, if you want help, ask for it. They seem very honest and earnest about biking, you can tell this isn't just work for them they love biking Overall they are very knowledgeable and very helpful, if you ask them first. Their prices are competitive and they understand what the customer needs. I would keep buying bikes from them and would definitely recommend giving them a try if your looking for a new or used bike
