Went here for brunch with my mother and we definitely enjoyed our food . The service was good as well but the menus were dated and kind falling apart . But I can over look that because that's how good my Steak Fajita Skillet was . The steak was juicy and tender , but the onions were a bit overwhelming for me . The pancakes tasted like old fashion pancakes my granny makes . So I was simply in food heaven . Bialys is a true hole in the wall with scrumptious food . Was looking for a place recently for a late lunch...since I had to run an errand in this area, I saw the review on Yelp and decided to give it a try. Got there and seated myself right away...after looking at the menu several times I decided to try their Country Skillet as it sounded good.... I was not disappointed...the skillet was very flavorful....seemed to have some kind of extra seasoning (almost tasted like taco seasoning) which made it a bit on the salty side (with the addition of sausage and bacon too). All in all a good place....got that sort of home cooking vibe here...only minor complaint was that I didn't get a refill on my pop...but then I did have a nice sized glass of water to go with it.... read more

This is one of my very favorite breakfast places. It definitely has that old time Diner feel to it, with the waitresses always knowing your name and what you want before you do. Service is very attentive and they are genuinely concerned that you are enjoying your meal -- and I know you will! They have recently added some specials to their already broad menu; they will have all of your breakfast favorites and more. My friend was visiting from the northside for a weekend. We always grab brunch together on the northside like north of the Loop. We consulted Yelp to find a good place for breakfast. We hopped into our cars and drove down 95th to 95th and California. When we walked in we were transported back to the 1960s/1970s which wasn't a surprise because most of the area feels like you're walking back into a few decades ago Chicago. We sat down at cosy booth and were brought water and coffee. The menu is pretty expansive but nothing extremely special. You get a decent amount of food for your money. I got a spanish omlette which was really good and came with your choice of homemade hashbrowns or O'brien potatoes and either toast or pancakes. The hasbrowns and pancakes were good and a nice treat considering I never make them for myself. In the future when I have friends visiting and want to go to breakfast we'll have to visit Bialy's. Came with a larger party of 6 during the breakfast rush. Be prepared to wait if you're coming in a group of at least five. Mostly 4-top booths, a row of 2-top booths, and a few bigger tables. We got there around 10:30am and were seated before 11. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal. I ordered the spinach & feta omelet with hash browns and buttermilk pancakes. I loved that it wasn't overly greasy. The potatoes were cooked just right and were the perfect consistency. I knocked off a star because service was slow, understandably because they were busy but my breakfast companions had to wait a while for a coffee refill. I also didn't get my pancakes (probably for the best, I was full off the omelet and potatoes). I would definitely come again, maybe plan to get there earlier or after the morning rush. read more

I visited here a few months ago. The device was good, the food was ok. The portion size was great, but the fries that came with my order were soggy. If I could give this place "zero" stars I would. The food is marginal at best and the service is horrible. I went there today for a late breakfast. The wait staff ignored my daughter and I for over 5 minutes until we prompted them for a menu. The waitress that eventually came over, an older Hispanic lady who wore glasses, was very impersonal, abrupt and dismissive. I started to leave, but decided to stick it out and just ignore her ignorance. Plus - I had dined here several times before without an issue, so I chalked it up to one person having a bad day. Long story short, my order came out completely wrong and this same disgruntled waitress refused to correct it. Indirectly telling me to take it or leave it. I sent the order back and told her to remove it from my check. She responded by removing the item and telling me "not to come back." Really??? It's so ridiculous to think that an establishment can completely mess up your order, then get indignant when you complain. Needless to say - I won't be back. So my wife and I was the first customers of the morning on 11/24/18 and was treated like shit by the owner a Hispanic woman,this was her claim to be the manger/owner. So this is the first time I've ever posted /commented on a place of business but this woman was so rude and had a bad attitude that it was just unnecessary and unbelievable,so my wife and I ordered the same t bone steak breakfast so when the plates arrived at the table not one but both steaks was missing one side and so I addressed this with her and she just grabbed the plates and said get out I don't want to serve you anyway and at this time I asked for a manager or owner and she said I am I knew there was going to be a problem,yes it was because you expect for me to pay full price for a half of a steak. Not one moment of the conversation did she try and fix the issue or even lie about the situation like that's the way they came in,I've heard that lie a few times at different places lol. It was an unexpected visit on my way to the dentist next door and wow how great it was. Great service, a friendly little diner with the best huevos rancheros breakfast, eggs benedict, great prices and more. My daughter HAS to go there when she comes to Chicago. Food is tasty, hot and they do a big to go business I see when there. They always remember us when we arrive.The server's hustle so get there early on weekends before the rush. Restaurant almost completely empty, yet our service was terrible. This place is convenient if you're visiting someone at either Little Company or Christ Hospitals, but I'm sure in the last 2 hours of closing they don't get much traffic. My grandfather and I were 2 of the only 4 people in here and the only waitress working had to be called for simple things. Coffee was not brought out when ordered, no straws, napkins. I had to shout across the restaurant just to get her to come back. I've come here in the day and got wonderful service. Guess that's just during the day. read more

I used to really like this place, I have been going there for breakfast on Sundays with my wife for over a year, but today something changed. I went in for breakfast this sunday as usual, but for some reason I was treated rude. and with total indifferance. I waited a good 15 minutes before I was even acknowledged, then when they brought coffee, I had no cream, or sugar I had to wait another 10 minutes to get soneones attention. This went on, and on mind you they were not busy. Waitresses were at the counter making place sttings etc. while my wife and I were waiting to be served. I finally got up and left. I'll go elsewhere for breakfast from now on. I used to like this place, but they just lost a customer. Too bad. I guess some places can afford to alienate there patrons. Good luck. read more

I have gone to Bialy's many times and been extremely satisfied with the food and service. Today however, the waitress neglected to not include cheese AS REQUESTED then refused to fix her error, without charging me for the meal with cheese and the replacement. I am vegan and there is no way I would have forgotten to say no cheese. I absolutely will never go back again. read more

I ordered sausage gravy with biscuits yesterday, this place is around the corner from my job. When I got back to work every biscuit was burnt and they tried to cut off the tops and bottoms. I was left w about 1/3 of 4 biscuits. They offered to replace them. Today when I asked to pick up another order they asked for yesterday's food. I can't leave food overnight at work. Tried calling for over 15 minutes this evening phone was constantly busy I finally decided to go there to place my order and I informed the RUDE waitress that the phone is off the hook or something it has been busy for over 15 minutes she picked up the phone and said no it is not (Lier) I then proceeded to place my to go order and told I would be back in 10 minutes. I came back picked up my food and left. I do not like to deal with this waitress she is very rude, not polite at all and very unfriendly. I love the food at Bialy's and the prices I DO NOT LIKE THIS WAITRESS she does not belong working with the public in my opinion. I don't know her name I never see her name tag if she even has one, but I am sure other people have dealt with her and most likely AGREE with me. First off, to me, the place looks kinda dirty. (We stayed, I figured, maybe its just that old diner look- as other reviews noted). Me, my husband and two year old- we waited about 20 mins to get sat (on a sunday- not bad/horrible). After we were sat, they never gave us menu's we had to get them from the front ourselves after 5 mins of sitting there, and then our order was taken at 11am (one kids meal, one adult meal- both breakfast: pancakes, eggs, hasbrowns- a rather small order). Our food arrived at our table at 12pm, one solid hour later (for breakfast?) that is WAY too long to wait for breakfast. Our two year old drank all of her (dixie cup size) RC/coke since we sat there for an hour, and there's not much in the cup... I asked the waitress if she could refill her cup and she said "ill have to charge you" walked away and came back with a adult size ((HUGE)) RC/coke. I explained I didnt want it, I just wanted her to refill the baby's- she said she it's be the same price. WELL, if we didnt have to wait an HOUR for our food, our little girl might not have drank it all and we wouldnt even need it in the first place. Parking is horrible, food was decent, service is horrendous, will NEVER go back. read more

This place is outstanding. They make everything from scratch, and it shows. Order ham in your omelette, and it won't be the usual ham from the fridge you get everywhere else, but beautiful ham off the bone. The skillets are amazing. Try the Mexican, you won't regret it. read more

Great little cafe with all the standards, omelettes, blts, skillets, Etc. While it's a small place and could use some updating in decor it's also part of the charm. Waitresses at friendly, checked on us many times, and are used to special orders. They have a Mexican type skillet with salsa and chorizo that's to die for. I warn the salsa is pretty hot on its own and does not need any hot peppers added to the dish. That was my mistake! My mouth was on fire lol. But simple good breakfast fare here, I would go for takeout or a quick meal. If your looking for fancy avant garde dishes or focus trendy decor this is not your place. read more
