The foods great and the portions are enormous The maharaja thali is enough for 3-4 people. Especially if you order other things. The bati and dal were really good. It comes with three types of bread too. All tasted really good and authentic. I thought the dal was good too. The thali comes with a bunch of chutneys and even green pepper pickle which was delicious The pani puri is really good - the chutney and water are really flavorful I liked the dabeli too. The potato filling was really heavily spiced but it was pleasant The servers were really kind and the food came out pretty quickly

Delicious food! We got a platter to share with 3 people and the garlic naan & Baigan Bharta eggplant curry. Favorites were definitely the Baigan Bharta and garlic naan. They were so flavorful. The platter had 3 different curries, several breads and sauces to dip them in. I loved how they all had distinct flavors. Definitely had lots of leftovers afterwards that we packed to go! Service was quick, and we were able to get seated quickly. We parked on the street in front (parking free on Sundays woo).

This was my first time going down to Bhooke but it will definitely not be my last. It is located next-door to a restaurant I visit very often (Udupi Palace) for South Indian food. Bhooke is Rajasthani based north Indian food but also has a selection of fusion Indian Chinese dishes. I didn't get to try those this time I will next time because I will be definitely eat here again. You could tell the ingredients were high-quality and that everything was freshly made. Everything was very flavorful without being oily or heavy. For example one of the dishes we got was Shahi paneer which can be very very rich but this had all of the flavor but the sauce had a lighter almost mousse-like texture...it was really delicious. There was a group of five of us for lunch, we got four appetizers, three main dishes, rice and bread. And split between the five of us came to $19.30 a person . The gentleman who served us was very nice and attentive but also very calm we never felt rushed and in fact we had to ask for the check they weren't trying to get us out of there to get the table. And they had a nice circulation of people coming in without it being overbearing. I didn't even realize they had Bollywood on the television in the background because there was no blaring music while we were there it was either very low or muted. It was just a delightful lunch and I look forward to returning.

Fantastic Indian restaurant with lots of options. The most popular item is the Thali, a whole bunch of different items made for a great personal meal. The variety of flavors is authentic and satisfying. The restaurant is fully vegetarian. The staff are friendly and interior is very clean.

Terrible service! Grumpy waiter took our order after a long wait. We asked for dessert that didn't have nuts as that's what he came for and he said everything had nuts - what a restaurant in California that doesn't offer nut free options?! We got an unsympathetic "sorry" but on further inspection of the menu there were ice creams that were but free that could've been suggested. We ordered chaat. Sev puri and pani puri were too similar. Sev puri was not on flattened puris. Kulfi faluda was not in a glass as expected but served as ice cream. Not greeted when we walked in or left! Walls are decorated nicely. Honestly the awful service is off-putting. Makes me wonder about the high rating on Yelp.

Friends recommendation on trying one of top 101 LA restaurants of 2023. The area is house of other Indian/vegetarian restaurants. Parking is free exactly in front but just for the first hour. Inside is inviting and the decor is Indian. Did I forgot to mention this restaurant is Indian/vegetarian? Mainly because most of the dishes are vegetarian. Spices are mild but can be spicy upon special request. There's several options of curry but all does not come with rice. Each customer is given a small bottle of water Order Maharja platter (most popular item), kadahi paneer (one of most popular curries) but request to be super spicy, garlic naan, pyaz kachori appetizer. The platter is huge for one person because it comes with three different curries and various of dishes while one plate has a dessert (according to the server). The kadahi pannier has onions, peppers and tofu and looks spicy when request to be super spicy. It's spicy enough to tickle your throat but not enough to burn you if you love spicy food. The kachori appetizer is fried, comes with two different sauces and has savory flavor. Overall, if you like Indian and vegetarian, recommend on trying this out

One of my favorite places in Cerritos in the little india area . They are only authentic rajasthani food. They have gatte ki sabzi . They gluten free bajra and makhi ki roti. Do the thali for the experience its amazing two people can easily share it . The kachoris were good . Service is good attentive and will suggest . It's clean their kitchen is small and weekends get super busy . Love the fact they are using recycled paper trays.

My second time here and opted not to do the LAT review items. I am not a Kachori Chat person so will just say not my thing. I ordered the Palak Paneer and it was very good. The 'cheese' cubes were large and the spinach curry flavorful and creamy. My friend's Baigan Bharta was smoky as advertised and not my thing however the spice kick was great. My garlic naan was awful. It seemed like it had been warmed up. Reheated with a fresh coating of garlic oil. Blah. I suggest that management develop a new method of providing water to folks. The little tiny bottles are not large enough and environmentally a negative. They can get delivery in big bottles and serve water out of pitchers like other places. The small bottles do not encourage me to order traditional Indian drinks as they are just too caloric for me and then I would order less food.

My husband and I came to Bhookhe on a Sunday night in late October. I'd found Bhookhe while browsing Yelp and thought it looked great, and our experience here matched my expectations. Bhookhe is located on a Main Street in Artesia and there is ample street parking in nearby residential areas. We didn't have a reservation when we came in around 6 pm, but were seated immediately as the restaurant was only about half full. Ambiance here is simple and casual. A waiter brought over menus immediately. One unusual thing I observed was that they served us small bottles of water rather than tap water in cups. My husband was starving and wanted to order a lot of food, but the waiter counseled us against the amount we were about to order (a first) and told us to order less. We got four dishes, which still ended up being a lot of food. We shared the aloo tikki chaat, and the aloo puri as appetizers. For mains, my husband had the garlic naan and malai kofta and I had the maharani thali. I can say without a doubt this is the best Indian food I've ever had in the US. The food was bursting with flavor and super filling. Prices were also quite modest. After I ate here, I was already planning my next visit and telling my friends about it. Looking forward to coming back.

I went all the way to Artesia to try this restaurant which bring authentic Indian Rajasthani food culture to here. In fact the decoration brings the vibe and even plates is traditional style made out of leave. They have a lot of options on the menu, plus they have Thalis which is good so you get chance to try a lot of items. I tried maharaja thali and Sartaj thali. I just blown away from the flavors it brings in mouth. If you want to really try rajasthani food, this is the place. My favorites is dal bati, pyaaj kachori and their kadhi. This place is busy on the weekend, but their service is faster though.

Just stopped by at this new restaurant at Artesia. Had a great experience. Awesome service , ambience and food. Delighted to have a new spot to look out for during my Artesia visits. Visited Bhooke especially to try their Maharani Thali but left quite disappointed. The dal baati and gatte were a letdown -- nothing like what they should be. The dal was a small bowl of watery, oily lentil puree, the baati was too hard to enjoy, and the gatte didn't even taste like they were made from besan -- more like soya chunks. Surprisingly, the thali didn't include any appetizers or even basic roti or puri. Not sure what we were expected to eat the chutneys, onions, chillies, and raita with! This thali felt incomplete and poor in taste. Would not recommend it at all. read more

Bhookhe was a nice surprise -one of a kind restaurant - the menu is unique and they are quite full. We stopped by on our way from San Diego to Los Angeles. The ambiance is good and service is quick. The rabdi is out of the world awesome must have. The thalis are great option and there are some unique Rajasthani dishes but they have regular Indian options too. Cannot recommend this place enough. read more

After reading the reviews my friend and I met up for brunch here on a Saturday. This was the first time I had rajastani food, so I am not familiar with the dishes. Our server was very kind and helpful explaining the different dishes. We decided to go with the maharaja thali because we got to explore different food items and it was perfect for us to share. The food was delicious, flavorful, and filling. I also got the mango lassi which can be a hit or miss, but it also didn't disappoint! Overall, it was such a great experience and I will be back again for sure! read more

Bhookhe is like the new, cool kid on the block. We stumbled upon it while walking and were immediately intrigued, especially since I'm originally from Jaipur. For my family and me, the experience was incredibly satisfying--it felt like we were savoring authentic local dishes straight from Jaipur and its surroundings. I highly recommend trying the Daal Ki Kachori, Pyaz Ki Kachori, Churma, and any of their Thalis. I might be a bit biased since this is the food I grew up with, but if you've ever wondered what authentic Rajasthani cuisine tastes like, this is the place to go. To my surprise, even my American-born kids loved it! Pioneer Blvd has plenty of great Gujarati food, but someone bringing a different cuisine with such quality is a bold move--and it's paid off. I enjoyed the food so much that I wanted to meet the owner. Anshul, the owner, is a great guy. Highly recommend! read more

We don't know what we ordered exactly but we had their deluxe set meal with a couple of extra snacks. The meal was really good, but carb heavy. Lots of flavor and spices. The staff was helpful in picking dishes for us to try. Parking on the street can be troublesome. There are parking meters and you'll need your license plate to purchase parking. read more

Disappointed with the food. We got the kadahi paneer which was 16oz container half filled for 19$ also half of it was oil and the other half some big pieces of paneer, bell peppers and onions poorly cut. Very bland and oily. Garlic Laccha paratha looked nice but again no taste. Pyaaz Kachori looked really big but the filling was very less and no hints of pyaaz(onion). Not worth spending. read more

The inevitable happened... Went there after couple of months and order our usual -- Deal bati and Chole- Bhature. Both have lost their taste now. The moment they put the dishes on the table I could tell the color was off and when I tasted them, my doubt got confirmed. After placing our order, the server served the appetisers and after 1-2 minutes came back with the main course and was staring at us as if we were to stop eating and give him space to put main course in our already full table. Really bad service! We order Paneer Pulao and I don't even know how they came up with this idea of just drenching rice in oil, adding small carrot cubes and adding partly cooked paneer and then serving it for 10+$. There was no spices and when asked the waiter, we were told that's how it is made. This is daylight robbery and is a joke in the name of Indian cuisine. (EDIT: Reply to owner): Dear Owner, Instead of trying to make this about money, I would recommend you to pay attention to what is written in the review and try to improve your food and services. I am not interested in getting a refund and nor did I ask one for originally. Regarding your ghee comment, the issue is not whether it is oil or ghee but the fact that the rice was drenched in it! If your idea to make cents out of the dishes is to not even add some basic spices then I would instead suggest to increase the prices of the menu items as I would be more then happy to pay more for something tasty and appetizing. read more

Giving 2 stars because my kids were hungry and we ordered rumali roti and 2 maharani thali( which was a great disappointment),and puri.Rumali roti was so hard to break, so they offered us phulka roti when my 2 year old was not eating that. No refills on any of the thalis( let me clear here we didn't share any items with my kids). We are from Bay Area and we love to eat thalis and here it's not even closer to what they claim to be. read more

This is my grandma's cooking at a restaurant. There is a whole new level to authenticity here that I have not found anywhere else. The daal courses through my veins and resonates for about an hour glowing through me. The flavors carry the complexity of generations of cooking and Ayurveda. The daal baati and garlic chutney are the way my family made them back in Rajasthan, in a painstaking way delivering great flavor and health benefits. I love that they use leaf plates and the service carries a 'welcome home' vibe. I love this place and can't get enough of it. read more

Amazing menu but food was ok, not great. There was nobody in the front for several minutes after entering the restaurant and one customer walked in and walked out after waiting but after waving to get the attention of someone in the back someone came out to help us. The menu is incredible and the decor and set up is so cute! Presentation of food is also amazing so it was disappointing to have it not taste as good as is looked. read more

Loved trying the authentic rajasthani food here. We had the dal batti and they even offer you more dal if you need it. Service is really nice, staff is polite. Ambiance is pretty good and the place has a nice vibe. We also ordered kadai paneer, palak paneer and naan. Food was flavorful but it was not spicy. Not sure if I would visit there again for eating punjabi food but I do recommend if you have a craving for rajasthani food. I do hope to try the full rahasthani thali sometime. read more

I like Thalis, so having another option in Bhooke is great. We had chaat and a thali. Most food was good, and the service was fast and timely. I'm disappointed with the Kadai paneer though - it was very oily, and lacked flavor. Also, the restaurant charges 3% service charge, which we only knew about AFTER tipping since they give you the receipt after you pay. There wasn't a mention of this on the menu or any signs in the restaurant. This would likely be illegal under California laws. read more

The Maharaja thali had a wide variety of dishes and all items very tasty and flavorful. Their alacarte selections were also very varied and worth a try. The pricing for the portion size is on the higher end. I highly recommend it! read more

We were in Artesia for our usual weekend grocery shopping and we spotted this new restaurant. I love Rajasthani food and I've never seen an authentic Rajasthani restaurant in my 7 years in the US! We decided to try this one out! And wow, this place has been added to our favourites list! The staff is really sweet and the service is prompt and attentive. We were here at about 6PM and it wasn't crowded. However, just a few minutes later, the restaurant was packed and there was a wait. The ambience is nice, with traditional Rajasthani wall art. We've been here twice, we ordered the following; Weekend 1 - Dinner Food: Pyaaz Kachori Dal Baati Thali Drinks: Buttermilk Dessert: Rabari Rabari Malpua Weekend 2 - Dinner Food: Pyaaz Kachori Sev Tamatar Ki Sabzi Rumali Roli Dal Baati Thali Drinks: Buttermilk The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the Dal Baati. It was nothing short of amazing, so authentic - exactly how you'd find it in Rajasthan. If you visit this restaurant, the Dal Baati is a must-try. The Pyaaz Kachori was excellent as well - the right amount of spice accompanied with sweet and spicy chutneys! The Rabari is a must too - the texture and the sweetness was perfect. Unfortunately, we didn't enjoy the sev tamatar sabzi and the rumali roti equally. The flavours were okay.. And the roti was drowning in ghee. Also, the malpuas in the Rabari Malpua were just okay. Go here for the Dal Baati, Pyaaz Kachori and the Rabari! They're exceptional :) read more

We were so excited to find authentic Rajasthani food jn Artesia! The restaurant was quite empty on a weekend afternoon. We were seated immediately. The menu is vast - lots to choose from if you don't want to try the Thali. We ordered to maharaja thalis and one Kadai paneer for our family. The dal bati was amazing. The masala bati especially is quite unique and a must try. The thali was received that day included a gatte ka subji and bhaigan Barta ( Smokey eggplant). The service is great - they refill anything you ask for, just serve small quantities to start with to avoid wastage. The kadai paneer was quite spicy - our children did not enjoy this at all. Maybe there are less spicy items we can order for our children next time. Overall, this is a nice change from the other Indian food in Artesia and well worth a try. read more

This was my second visit to Bhookhe and definitely not the last. Loved the food at Bhookhe. This has a great taste of the Rajasthani food & flavors. Their iconic Maharaja Thali is surely a must try who wants to get a feel of the Rajasthani cuisine. Do not confuse Rajasthani thali with the Rajdhani thali . Its relatively a new restaurant and during my second visit as well, service was great. The staff is quick to respond to your queries and do answer the questions nicely. Apart from the Maharaja thali, I recommend going with local delicacies like Pyaaz Kachori, Ghewar for sweet, Gatta Sabzi, etc. read more

It is great to have traditional Rajasthani food in LA . The portion sizes are huge for Thalis . They allow to share but will not bring any additional item if you share your thali , but it is sufficient for two adults . Other items are also very good . Last night we had the maharaja thali. It's was an amazing experience. This was the second time in my life I've eaten Rajasthani thali. My favorite from the thali was the dal and bhati, I'll be back to try other dishes. It was a heavy meal and definitely something I would do for lunch. read more

It is always a challenge to find Rajasthani restaurants anywhere in the world. And I am so happy that Anshul & Pooja decided to open Bhookhe and bring sumptuous Rajasthani cuisine to Southern California. Their culinary expertise reflects in the diverse Rajasthani offerings in Bhookhe's menu and they almost guarantee that there are options for different taste palates. My only challenge is making up my mind as to which items to order since there are so many good options. I would strongly recommend a first timer to try out the Maharaja Thali since it will give you a taste of the authentic Rajasthani food. Also, since the Thali is fairly large, you can easily share it with your partner or family. And if needed, you can always order some extra baatis a la carte. I would like to thank the owners for bringing this wonderful restaurant to Little India (Artesia) and hope that they are able to expand this restaurant to multiple US cities. read more

The reason I took off 3 stars is because a very nice woman had been waiting with her friends and her service dog longer than us. She was extremely patient and kind. She waited outside with her dog and didn't complain once about the wait. I heard the hosts discussing her dog and they were like oh that's a BIG service dog. It was just a normal small sized black lab. And they never began preparing a table for her. The woman finally came in after about 30 minutes to say she had been waiting and was told they were just setting up a table. They kind of brushed her off and said we will get to you. It seems like they had no intention of ever seating her and her friends. They seated multiple large groups before her. We were table of two and we got sat so we thought she would be next and she wasn't. Eventually the poor woman left. They have a sign outside saying service dogs are allowed. This is not true. And you will be discriminated against and not be given a table. I'm not sure if the hosts know how illegal their behavior was. It was clear her dog was a real service animal and the hostesses did not care for her at all. I was a hostess at two restaurants when I was younger and I have never seen anyone treat a customer so poorly before. I truly hope they apologize to this woman. - As for inside the restaurant the servers and waitstaff were extremely friendly. It is a bit scattered and you don't know who your server is so it is hard to flag people down. But they still serve water, naan, and anything else you need promptly. The entire restaurant was packed. Every table was full and the staff always had the food trays full of items. The items also all tasted fresh. All besides the Hakka noodles. That one was a little soggy or over boiled for my taste. I am vegetarian so I got their spinach and mushroom pasta which was surprisingly good. Paneer tikka was also very good. They also had channa/chole. They have street food station where they made fresh pani puri which was great. I believe this station is switched out each buffet day. The last time I was here it was dev puri. And they had someone making paneer tacos. The man making the tacos was really friendly and seemed really happy to be helping everyone. They had samosas and puff pastries as appetizers. They have wide variety of sweets such as carrot halwa, gulab jamun, jalebi, sweets, Kheer, and mango fruit custard. There is a variety of meat dishes such as tandoor chicken, mutton, chili chicken, and chicken curries. I think the only issue with this place is how the hostesses treat customers. Especially new customers. This is their first impression of the restaurant.

We finally visited BHOOKE, a Rajasthani restaurant in Los Angeles, after hearing about it from friends while living in San Diego, and it did not disappoint!
