High prices, terrible service. If there is a power outage and you call for an update, the time they say service will be restored is not true, it's many hours later. read more

BGE called to say one of their new smart meters was not sending a signal. They have no off hour appointments as such I would need to take a vacation day so they can fix their equipment. Everything from calling in to talk with someone on the phone to getting this taken care of has been "at the convenience of BGE" . If there was an alternative I would be switching. read more

My house had a power outage the other day. My husband reported the outage online and I also called. I spoke to Mr. Robinson who was super friendly and understanding. He was able to provide me with an update on when a technician would be out and let me know that other people in my neighborhood had the same issue. He was very thorough and ensure he had my proper information before ending the call. I see terrible reviews about BGE and I am sure because they serve so many there are sometimes issues. With any outage I have had at my home, it has always been corrected in a timely fashion and I have never experienced issues with my bill. read more

They could provide the minimum customer service. They could also quit trying to gouge customers. Here's an example, for some reason my gas bill is being estimator. They are estimating three times what I normally use. This has been going on for 2 mo. I'm still expected to pay the huge overestimate. I could provide other examples. But you already know BG&E sucks. read more

The worst electric company there is. People don't jnownwhat they are doing and they inconvenience you. They will keep telling you sorry but don't actually help. Plus the crew get off early and come to do their job. Which makes you have to wait the next day. They tell you one thing and do something. Wasted time for 2 days. I could have went to work and made my money. Thanks for nothing. read more

BGE is the worst electric company! I had PEPCO most of my life and they were wonderful and I never had a problem over several decades. I can't say the same for BGE, they raise their rates every year and their website never works properly. I do e-billing and every time I try to logon to view my actual bill, there are problems. The apartment I previously lived in, the BGE power would go out on average two times every week! If they had any competition they would be out of business, they are a dreadful company. read more

Most folks wish there was an alternative to BGE. Perhaps real competition would help them improve customer service. The reps just show up to your house unannounced and this is a real pain. They don't have this problem in Texas. read more

Every time I call the people I talk to act like I am causing a problem for them. I'm never rude. I never demand things. I say thank you, etc. but they're just miserable. What are you guys doing to your customer service employees to where they literally hate their jobs? I know s**t rolls down hill. I've worked in customer service before. Take some responsibility as a corporation that you're probably not treating your employees up to standard. If you treat them better, than they will treat your customers better. This is like the MVA of electric companies. I can't wait to get TF out of Maryland. read more

was suppose to start electric service 12/9....it's a vacant property so no one is there....I arrive 40min away to property 2 weeks later to no power...pissed...no one called or anything to tell me someone actually had to come out.... the guy comes out DAYS LATER and says he couldn't access the panel (lies)...have to wait 2 more days and second guy says there is no key in the lockbox (more lies) now I have to wait until after the holidays!!! this shit is a fukin mess...these techs are lazy and they also need to hire more they don't even call to tell you they're on the way Tf type shit is that read more

Extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the customer service I have received from BGE after they cut down new landscaping to the ground and refuse to do anything about it. Please watch these unprofessional workers if you see them in your neighborhood. read more

BGE - Electricity Suppliers Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

BGE is over charging the residents of Maryland its crazy how you really can't afford to live here and they are robbing you. There is no competition so they leave you with no choice but to be held hostage to the out rages prices. As soon as I retire I'm leaving MD its a horrible place to live read more

They failed to put a tracer wire on the gas line so when we needed our main water line to our house replaced the plumber could not find the gas line and had to delay putting in the new water line for four days costing us an extra 1000 and an additional 4 days of no water in our house, talked to customer service and they won't cover the cost of the additional 1000 even though it is required by the state of Maryland to have tracer wires and they admit they failed to do so, read more

Unfortunately, you have no other option and BGE knows it. I have been a Pepco customer my entire life; even when I lived in a large single family home my bill was considerably less with Pepco than it is living in an apartment with BGE. I live alone and do not use much electricity but it seems like my bill is going up. It is literally 4 times more than I would pay monthly under Pepco. I had them replace the meter and they said it was fine so I definitely think there are some shady billing and metering practices happening with BGE. read more

This company is the worst. I have been paying my bge late because I don't get paid when my bge bill is due, and lo and behold they have giving me a deposit. Never had my lights turned off lived in my home for 5 years. They claim we sent you a letter, but my bill come electronically. Oh how ironic . I can't wait to move from Maryland hopefully the electric company in Houston will be better than this shitty ass company. The messed up part is they know we need them because nobody has gas and electric. read more

I have been with this company for many years and never would they before have such a reckless regard for people and their situations nor any compassion of any sort for people who don't make millions to fix every little problem in their homes. People who have mold and mildew in there basements must run dehumidifiers. They have no choice. Is that our fault? She we have to pay out the butt fir that? Is it our fault it's 100 degrees outside and have breathing and health issues? Do we make the weather?NO we do not so why ate bge trying to charge fir every little thing and up up upping the price of electric constantly to pay for their updates? If your company can't afford to pay for it then don't do it. Simple. You have become SO money hungry all you do is say well use fans or don't use your ac or raise your ac so we can go into a coma. My bill has never been above 90.00 until you started raising all these rates. Now it's 414.00. I call and tell you I have to run stuff for our health etc. You know what you and your managers do to help? NOTHING.!!!! All you do is come up with excuses. I have an autistic family to boot with little monies. Trying to do the best we can. Have no family to help or have a home to live in if we kose this vecause if your nonsense. You dont care. Its not you. You people are a DISGRACE to himanity. You know we need electric and are holding us all hostage with your prices. Everyone does not work n or cannot work and you set unreasonable times to use electric that we cannot possibly meet without furthering our health issyes. I have called multiple times to get help from you but all you can do is give me lip. read more

So my mom lost a case with bge because they think they can just do what they want so I'm going to let everyone in on a secret that works I do it every day all you have to do is get into a routine of doing it every day and you will save mega $$$$. I pay $30.00 a month because I turn off all the breakers that I'm not using I told this to a coworker his bill was over $400 and after a month it dropped to $186 . This will cost bge millions if not billions. Time to stick it to the man people. No joke try it and watch your bill drop big time . read more

I just moved in to a new home and have only been there for two days, when I came home from work yesterday my power was shut off and they put a lock on my BGE box out back. Being reasonable and understanding, I called into BGE to try and make a payment or set up an account of some sort. I was greeted by a RUDE woman named Nikki who pretty much told me that I am out of luck and there is nothing she can do to help me. Now get this, the reason it was shut off is because the previous tenants have an overdue bill.... Soooo, what does this have to do with me? Apparently they have to send out an investigator to make sure that I am not the previous tenant trying to avoid an overdue bill. To top that off, it takes them up to a WEEK to do so. When I got off of the phone, I called my landlord and asked her if there is anything that I can do to get my power turned back on. She called BGE and spoke with a supervisor. She explained to me that they had no right to cut off my power without notifying her (she has a landlord/owner account with them). They told her that there is nothing that they can do to help her. I find it interesting that it took one hour for them to come shut off my power, yet it's going to take them a week to come turn it back on. My husband and I decided we are going to go through a different carrier for electric. What company thinks that it is ok for a family of four to live with no electric and heat for a week (it dropped down to 35 last night). Beyond aggrivated! read more

Well there ok until you have a problem with weather related storm etc because it no secret this billionaire company spares no expense when it comes to charging and charging but when an outage occurs they get the cheapest and longest contractor anc does care about you losses yr food or just not having electri and they keep using time in computer because the co is tracking you inquiring and it a rip if so again there great as long as you don't have an outage read more

BGE is in cahoots with third party vendors. As soon as you switch to a less expensive third party vendor BGE pricing then decreases, and that third party's pricing goes up. Of course they will let you pay less than you owe, so that these companies can always keep you in debt. Just another way to enslave us all. read more

30 gallons of gasoline later, almost 30 hours of generator use, and BGE says tomorrow night at 11pm the power will be restored. They're full of sh**. I talked with BGE truck guys early this morning, 3 trucks in total, and they fed me some B.S. telling me they were going to get workers from other states to come and help and were calling everyone in from BGE to help. I haven't seen any trucks all day long with license plates from other state, and I haven't seen any extra BGE trucks. Bottom line....BGE corporate pucks are following status quo, when status quo is completely out of line! A guy at the gas station, not 20 minutes ago, who was also filling his gasoline tanks for his generator, told me BGE told him they would restore his power by 11pm Friday night! I have two 75 year old neighbors that came over twice today to get water. I bet if they were related to a BGE executive their power would have been restored yesterday! read more

These heathens RUINED my credit over $105!!!! They are the worst! I have been a customer for more than 35 years and have never, NOT ONCE been late on a payment. In July i moved to Florida and the final bill got lost in the transition so my payment was 30 days late and they sent it to collections!!! who in turn reported to the collection agencies and my credit score immediately dropped from 813 to 677!!! WTH! I paid BGE immediately but the damage was done! The collection agency won't reverse the damage and BGE does not give two cents about me just their stupid hundred bucks!! Inglorious incentive selfish in it for themselves morons! Guess that is what loyalty gets ya - screwed by the Big guys! read more

I just conducted my 10th move with the military. Got here and set up service. I've NEVER had to pay a security deposit for any utility before this company. Look how they add zeros in front to try to make you look less stellar even though credit scores only go up to 3 digits. And what is a "customer charge?" They charge you 7.90 a month just for being their customer?? Shameful. read more

Unethical billing practices. Double paid a month in error, then all of a sudden they do a review of acct and begin to bill me more going forward. Claim my gas usage is 220% more than last year this time one month and then 210% more the next month than last year same time, etc. Yet I've not used more nor was I home to use more being I was working during the times they claim this increase occurred. I live in an apartment building and feel sure there is something hokey going on being they're upgrading some recently vacated units and have been. Plus the place is dated and landlord doesn't keep the place up. The water heater probably needs replaced as well as the windows as they're the original windows and 30 yrs old. The place isn't to code but our fitness equipment is brand spanking new in the gym downstairs! Utility mafia and slumlord landlords seem to rule in this state. read more

Weeks ago they started putting in our new gas line and meter. We were told the section of ivy (which has been there since our home was built a CENTURY ago) would not be damaged. They had signs when to move vehicles. I moved my car the day before. They banged on our door at 6:30am and scared my disabled daughter who has a hospital bed in the living room where they knocked. They asked if another car was ours. It wasn't. The end of the day they said I could put my car back in its spot. Next morning, they're banging on my door again at 7am telling me to move it! They dug up a big sidewalk square and put tar stuff on it, said they'd tamp it down. I had to walk through it (hill on either side of sidewalk I can't walk on) and got tar all over my shoes. Cement stuff beside my car where I get in, couldn't walk my dog on the sidewalk. Emailed several times, was only told they have us move cars to avoid damage. More emails to ask about the other issues and they ignored them. Phone calls. Told someone would call me. Never did. Called again, someone put in an urgent email and said I'd hear back. Never did! Called and left messages and nothing! The ivy is dead there, they even drove a backho into it! Guy necpxt door complained of a flower being missing and they gave him a $50 home depot card! He rents! He only just planted that! We own our house and had to deal with all this and are ivy was killed that's been there when my grandfather build the house 100 years ago and I was told it wouldn't be harmed. Now you all can't even get back to me or reimburse me for the destruction of something important to my family?! I had to get a rug to put on the sidewalk just to walk my dog over it. Shoes ruined, can't walk on my own sidewalk, rudely woke up 2 days for no reason, left a mess everywhere, but you pay a renter $50 for a missing plant and ignore all contact and complaints from a home owner with actual damage?! Tried BBB, Bge said they'll respond by July 27th. They didn't. The case was closed in their favor! Messed up. read more

absolutely horrible customer service BGE sent me a email they are going to email my bill and if I want a paper bill i will have to call and request a paper bill, that is so wrong, BGE should ask me if I want a email bill. Horrible unreliable electrical service. My power is constantly off when almost all my neighbors have power. I even tried to get a generator but poor gas service stopped that. But for BGE did offer to upgraded my gas service if I paid their extortion of thousands$$$! Horrible customer service didn't even turn my power when they said they would do it for the third time.

If I could rate less I would as I'm writing this review my power is out it is now 2:47am and we have been without power sine roughly 4pm which is always the case with BGE just a few weeks back power was out over 24 hours and there is no sign of improvement they continue to raise rates and deliver poor service I have lost tropical fish because of my water heater and water filter not working due to outages and they are not cheap food in the freezer thaws and I. The fridge gets warm no ac due to it power bu electric no fan so trying to even get comfortable at time is not manageable last December it was extremely cold because again no power so no heat we can't even get an eta on repair this service is horrible and a straight monopoly since there is no other service provider to choose from here in Baltimore so after being without power a few weeks back and a few weeks before than here we are again and will more than likely be more than 24 hours as is the pattern with them but they will charge and keep increasing the cost for the subpar service they deliver read more

Worst experience ever. The previous tenant moved out, and we put s transfer of service request in with bge. The power was shut off by request of the previous tenant with a balance on it. According to BGE that "flags" the home address. So here we are on a Friday at 3pm with no power. Calling BGE is a joke. They transfer you to 7 different "supervisors" who can only tell you the department that handles that is closed until Monday, and then it's a 3 business day turn around to get the power back on. So we have to wait 5-6 days to get power, all while their calling for snow tomorrow and I have 2 small children in the house. Oh and did I forget to mention one of my children has a pulmonary health issue and needs hourly nebulizers?? The BGE's representatives response? Go get a hotel. This is the most impersonal, rude, corrupt company I have EVER done business with. If there was another power company I would have already activated their services. If you can avoid using BGE absolutely do. Horrible company, horrible customer service and charge you fees for EVERYTHING! They first off made me put down a security deposit of over $600 (fyi my credit score is well over 750). Then they charged me a $25 start service for for doing NOTHING! I then had to get service for my business, same issue but now they charged me a $40 "start service fee" why, i don't know? So I called for customer service so they could explain it to me, Mrs. Priam or Pam whatever her name is couldn't explain it. I tried to get it waived, they wasted over an hour of my time. HORRIBLE COMPANY with a monopoly who's continue to traumatized small businesses and residential customers. BGE: Your company is so lucky I have to put at least 1 star! Your company is more about making money then satisfying their clients. If I could get gas and electric from another company, I would switch in a heartbeat. You have a monopoly over the Baltimore region. You tell your clients they "have to" get a gas smart reader installed or you will charge every month. You make us make a 4 hour appointment window and can't even install it properly and then overcharge for gas (that isn't reading correctly) and expect me to pay. I then make another 4 hour appointment window, lose overtime work and don't even bother calling or showing up. Not only did I waste a beautiful Saturday waiting for your non-reliable staff but I also lost $300 in overtime money. read more

Is it possible to rate them lower? If you want to pay out of every orifice, sign up for BGE. My apartment is hot as balls in the middle of summer with no AC, no fan, hell, not even a television. If I could leave a negative start review I would. I was on the budget billing plan and ended up getting a bunch of back charges at my final bill and was told there was nothing I could do since me and my roommate over used our alloted amount for each month despite the fact that we both work multiple jobs and there are only two of us. And yet somehow we use too much energy. When I called about a high bill a couple months ago, I was told the same thing so me and my roommate worked really hard to use less energy and were told our meter would be read. Clearly it never was. BGE was not only unhelpful but they overccharge their customers becuase they know they're pretty much much the only company in Baltimore so they do whatever they want. I will never stop telling people how crapppy this company is. They have no idea how hard it is for some people to pay they're ridiculously high bills. And they don't care. read more

Well we lose power ALL. THE. TIME. BGE is just the worst. The worst thing the ever did to us, though, was after restoring power at around 4am - I think the power had been out about 20 hours at that point - they pushed power down our neutral line and destroyed everything that was powered. Including brand new HVAC systems. You should have seen how bright the lightbulbs were before they all burst over our heads. And our electric panel on fire was also fun to discover in our mudroom. They took no responsibility whatsoever and, in fact, as I was calling the fire department due to the panel being on fire, my husband was running down the street trying to stop them as they were all leaving. Thanks a lot BGE. I can't imagine a more incompetent company dealing with power. I am amazed no one was hurt or died when they did this to us last August.
