Subject: Commendation for Excellent Customer Service - Ms. Hollis Dear Management, I would like to take this opportunity to formally commend your agent, Ms. Hollis, for the exceptional service she provided while assisting me with my concerns. Ms. Hollis went above and beyond to ensure that each of my concerns was properly addressed. She took the time to listen, provided clear assistance, and, most importantly, ensured that the necessary follow-ups were put in place regarding my requests. I have contacted your office on several occasions in the past, and I must say that this is the first time I have received this level of attentive, thorough, and professional service from an agent. The difference in the quality of service was noticeable and greatly appreciated. Ms. Hollis demonstrated patience, professionalism, genuine concern, and a strong commitment to customer service. Rather than simply addressing the immediate issue, she made an effort to ensure that my concerns were handled completely and that appropriate follow-up action would be taken. Employees who demonstrate this level of dedication deserve to be recognized. I therefore wanted to ensure that management is made aware of the excellent service Ms. Hollis provided and the positive impression she has made on me as a customer. Please extend my sincere appreciation to Ms. Hollis for a job exceptionally well done. Kind regards, Nathoyer read more

This company is really gross. They advertise rebates for upgrading to smart thermostate but deny your rebate if you puchase any of the used options from Amazon. After TWO human reviews they said NO you MUST buy NEW. What a great way to be energy efficent! Gross. Its just a scheme to funnel you to corporate partners and drive sales. "Thank you for reaching out. On our website it explains to be eligible for the thermostat rebate up to $100 you must purchase a new and qualifying thermostat. This is located under the Optimizing your smart thermostat section. On your amazon receipt it shows the condition of the thermostat being in Used- Very Good, Unfortunately we are unable to offer a rebate for this thermostat. This is why your application was rejected. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions." read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I called about a billing issue and, as usual, no one answered--so I had to join the call-back list. After waiting three hours, they finally returned my call. I then spent an hour and a half on the phone (see photo) trying to resolve the issue, only to be disconnected before anything was fixed. When I called back, I was told they were "at capacity" for the day and I'd need to try again tomorrow. So now I have to repeat this entire process. This is completely unacceptable. They have zero regard for people's time. HORRIBLE customer service. read more

Horrific "emergency" service. For the last 24 hours I've had one person stop by after already paying 600$ to an electrician to tell me at a a neutral problem on the utility side, which I told BGE, and that one person only stopped by to confirm that and said a contractor would be back in 4 hours to fix. It's been 6 hours now. Calling them is completely worthless. I hate this place more than ever before. read more

Even setting up an account is literally impossible. They require access to your credit score, which I gave them, but they still insist that my scores are frozen on Equifax. Okay, fine. Well this issue can't be resolved because I cannot reach them by phone SINCE I DON'T HAVE AN ACCOUNT NUMBER YET. Okay, fine. I can reply to the email they sent asking to unfreeze my scores right? No - no one responds to any of the emails I send them. It is literally impossible to reach this company. I'm stuck in a Kafkaesque nightmare. read more

Garbage company. They dont maintain any power lines, trees on all the lines. Every time it storms the power is out for days. Have been out of power for a total of 7 days in the hot week of July. Theyll leave wires downed in the road for a day, no cones, no warnings. read more

We moved out of Maryland. Told them to stop my service. Paid my balance from budget billing. Zero balance. They pulled money from my account 500.00 when I had a zero balance. Told me I had to uninroll in auto payment. They didn't tell me they when I stopped service. Now they are telling me it's going to be 20 days before I get my money back. If I was 20 days late paying my bill they would charge me interest. I asked if they were going to pay me interest. No! What BS. If they can pull it why cant they refund it quickly??? This seems illegal!!! read more

I recently tried to make a partial payment from my $750 bill. Your app does NOT allow partial payments??? A friend showed me how to sign is a guest; allowing a partial payment! In these really tough financial times, this practice is deceitful and corrupt. Your president/ceo took home over 15 million dollars last year. SHAME ON YOU read more

Absolute dogshit. You can have downed wires and trees on your street and it'll take an hour of repeat calling just to talk to a human being,, only for them to give some half-assed answer along the lines of "well someone will be by eventually to look at it." You probably won't get an ETA on things being fixed either, and if you DO get one, don't worry because it'll be wrong anyways. read more

Billing is screwed up and you cannot wait for Customer Service because the Telephone System hangs up on you . I have Budget Billing and AutoPay and BGE keeps sending me Paper Bills saying I owe hundreds of dollars . read more

I have been calling BGE since the 11/6/2025 and calling everyday still have been able to reach them by phone. BGE cutomer service is very horrible. I have a very simple question and cannot reach BGE..... This the second time I have filed a complaint.. I pay my BGE bill ontime every month and being treated like this is unacceptable... Overpriced garbage. $582 to keep an 1,800 sq ft house heated to 68 degrees. Service power outages multiple times a year. More rate increases coming. Visit Baltimore and the state of MD. It's not about the cost (although it's nuts) it's about converting an account to paperless and not notifying me to the point that electric is turned off...... without any warning. Truly a horrible company, screwing over anyone in sight while putting millions into their pockets. Where's the public service commission? - pawns in a scam that sucks from the public read more

The worst energy company that doesn't know the value of gas and electricity in homes. I had everything unplugged in my house for a whole week, no one is home doing the week and plug up only in the areas that I am in. But the bill is still high!! Unnecessary money is being spent. This is robbery and should be illegal!! They lost my trust. read more

I really wish it was another light bill company to use. Lights went out on our block yesterday at 4 something. Was told they would fix it by 8:30 pm. It is almost 7 am lights are still out. Lady said oh it's just a wire someone hit on the block. To top it off we just spent over 3 hundred on groceries the day before. Pissed !! Beyond measure. Hard earn money spent and no lights at all food wasted. Lights went out yesterday 4pm it's 7am lights still out read more

Sitting on the phone while powers has been out all day noone picks up the phone at bge they have gone very downhill.

I got a BGE rate increase. Everybody did but, my bill went from approx. $250 to $450+ and I own a 6kw solar system. I have had my solar company come out twice and even went to that company for answers. All have checked out ok. I called GBE 4 times to come out and check the smart meter they installed and said life would be better with it. It's the one thing that haven't been checked. I spent about 3 1/2 hours being lied to by 4 different BGE employees, stating that they have to put in a work order and that I will be getting a phone call, letting me know when someone will be out to check the meter. One of them even said that they would notify me personally! If they did, grits ain't groceries! BGE has put a hold on payments so my electricity won't be cut off due to late charges while they try to resolve the issue. In the meantime, my bill is now over $900 and climbing! I may change my rating in the future but, I doubt it! P.S. The online A.I. chat is absolutely NO help. read more

I signed up for Connected Rewards in 2023. I received my 2023 e-gift card. However, I am yet to receive 2024 & 2025 gift cards. I have called and e-mailed multiple times. If they are still working from home (not really) I hope they are mandated to return to office! Customer Service is Horrible or Non Existent. When you call as soon as they open, you are told a 3 hour "Call Back" window but you di nit get a call back until the next day. Then they disconnected the phone line (I had all bars so not mt phone). Even though they have my telephone number, they do NOT even call you back. What a waste... Please go back into the office where "work gets done". read more

The customer service at this organization is the absolute worst. I would select any other service provider if I had a choice. As a semi-government-sponsored monopoly, they have zero incentive to provide customer service. 0/5 stars. I suggest anyone considering moving to Maryland reconsider, so you do not have to have BGE and a utilities provider. read more

Yo we don't have electricity since 12 like why yall taking so long this is crazy in town and country blvd

I reported a street light out at 9:37pm and the crew was on site and fixed it less than 3 hours later. It is a light on the street in front of my house that has consistently gone dark. Good job folks! read more

It is not a surprise to me at all that BGE has a 1.1 star average. Since moving to Baltimore I have had more power outages than all the places I have lived for sixty years combined. Today I have a power outage that has lasted for five hours with no estimated restoration in sight. The service here is less than my experience in third world countries. If I could give BGE a 0, i would. read more

This company is a mess. Put aside pricing, just the support and phone system. It's an odyssey to get something resolve. Because they have the monopoly here, but if I could I would never use this company again. What a shame. Horrible service, horrible support, horrible everything. read more

Having BGE has been a NIGHTMARE. I have only had the company for 6 months and the power has gone out twice with barely any updates. It takes hours to restore service and it's just ridiculous. it is too cold outside to be without heat. The lack of communication is completely unacceptable. I never had these issues with Pepco. And if it were an issue Pepco communicates non stop. Then BGE has the nerve to have these high outrageous rates. Just insane. read more

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! it took me a week worth of calling, emailing, and filling out multiple request forms to even be able to speak to someone for not even 10 minutes about my new service. i would NEVER recommend this company to anyone especially not anyone in a hurry. read more

I've tried to find out what is going on here. No luck! My electric bill is 83% more than neighbors. Someone has tapped into my electric. Noone wants to help.Where can I post pictures? read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. As a GC trying to schedule them to perform a work with so the power lines can be relocated for an addition has been a nightmare. Over 3 months of emails and phone calls trying to get it scheduled. Miscommunication and lack of competency on their end resulted in $500 of work being performed for them to just come back and say it was no longer necessary. After finally getting the work approved, they scheduled for a 7am start then never arrived. Sitting on hold for an hour a person finally answers and tells me they would be onsite between 8am and 8pm to complete the work and my electrician needs to sit and wait because they won't call or notify you when they are in route. When asking about a rough timeframe so electrician isn't sitting for 12 hours waiting, they told me they have no contact information for the crews assigned to the job and cannot provide any information for that crew. How do you schedule a crew to perform work and have no information for them? Absolute joke of a company but unfortunately we are stuck with them because they bought out Maryland. read more

I recently had my electricity turned off. I'm a single father with an eight-year-old and he lost his mother the last few months and was shipped out of the country. She did have a was working on a green card. Long story short it's been a struggle financially, so yes, I was backed up on my electricity bill and it off. It took them two days until they finally answered my phone. Call to turn the electricity back on and ask him for help because I've never asked for help before. So I thought that they would be able to help me since I never asked for help. In the past. Four people told me they won't turn the lights on until you pay the full amount, including late fees. My food melted and was spoiled refrigerator by the time they put the lights back on. Then on top of that, they're still charging me processing $20 as if they didn't get enough money. BG&E is a company that does not care about people and does not care about their customers. They care about their money not what families need which is help. I was willing to give them more than half of what they're asking for by borrowing money And it still wasn't enough. They everything down to the penny or nothing. I recommend using this company if you can help it. I really don't even wanna give one star to be honest. read more

BGE - A toilet for bad service - Electricity Suppliers Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

This is the second time that BGE has excavated for service repairs and both times the ground hasn't been returned to it's original condition. The repair crews leave mounds of dirt in one spot and holes in others leaving the leveling and reseeding for me. read more

BGE is ripping people off. This rate increase is outrageous.Over 100 dollars more then last month.

What must be improve is to stop price gauging customers, and give seniors discounts!!!!

Awful service, awful response time, expensive for no reason. Power outages galore and the slowest imaginable "emergency response" teams sent to deal with them. Currently seven hours without power sitting in a bathtub trying to cool off in 95 degree weather. Ambulances in and out taking people to the hospital, kids unable to sleep, people's pets overheating. This company must be great to work for, you don't even need to answer your phone during work emergencies. read more

Terrible is putting it mildly, my experience with BGE since being in Baltimore. Customer service is useless and their business practices could stand a close eye from agencies monitoring fraud. Due to a glitch in their system, I wasn't sent bills for electricity and when the huge bill came, they offered a payment arrangement for the inconvenience. Mind you, other bills were still accruing and due. I got charged an application fee for service several months later. BGE should be dissolved or at the very least audited and severely reviewed for severe ineptitude. read more

Scumbag monopoly ... Raising rates like crazy my bill doubled this month and we did nothing different....

If i could give this controlled monopoly a 0 star rating i would. This is the only company that i pay that charges $2.30 "Convenience" fee for using their controlled monopoly services. They charge almost as much as the energy i use for "Delivery costs", but yet one can drive the entire state of Maryland and not see one worker working on the infrastructure. Also our monthly bill we used less than $60 a month in cost, but they insist we give them over $100 a month in "Security" deposit. Complete garbage, should be defunded and abolished. read more

This company is the worst! Randomly my gas meter conveniently can't be read. And they of course have to schedule a technician appointment tment to check. Then because they're incompetent. They can't give you an accurate time and force you to sit around waiting for them for 4 hours. Even when you call the day of. This is a horrible waste of time. You guys need to get it together and do better. Give an hour window and not 4! Everyone is busy this time of year. It's Christmas!! I hate this company! read more

I absolutely hate bge. They have turned my service off several times due to a bad hvac and high bill. They truly don't care about anything but ripping people off and getting paid. My house is freezing as it's freezing outside I have a 5yo and I asked them to restore my service for a week so I can cook and have heat and they wouldn't without payment which I told them I would have at the end of the week . So we are supposed to freeze and have no food or hit water til they get a payment. I will be moving to an area that doesn't use bge this company is the absolutely worst. read more
