Not only is their rate incredibly high, if you would like to contact them regarding anything on your bill you better block out a week. Neither phone nor chat gets a response. Why? I switched my electricity to them for a great price (11 cents) but what I didn't know is they also became my gas provider and charged me almost double the therm rate I had with BGE. I'm still going through the numbers but estimate I was overcharged by nearly 100% from what I had. The total overcharge is roughly $600 dollars just over a 3 month period. We hired Constellation Energy to install our new heating system which they did. Took a day longer than it was supposed to but not a big deal. There problem is service and showing up. It use to be the cable company was the worst at showing up but these guys take the cake. You schedule on line for the date and time period then they call you the day of and tell you they won't be out there until later. It's like they don't understand we have full time jobs and it costs us money as well. Don't waste your time. read more

I upgraded my electric in order to have a level 2 charger installed for my car. This required adding another 200amp service. My current 200amp service is near max. The technicians came as scheduled and did a phenomenal job of not only installing the new panel and service but also fixing a lot of problems left by previous "electricians" who weren't as attentive to quality installation. Since it is an older house they had to upgrade the grounding and snaked a lot of grounding cable through my finished basement with no problem, or damage to the finished ceiling. Michael Myers and Jason Brandenburg were professional very knowledgeable and did an excellent job. The team lead on the design side, Mike Brady also stopped by and gave me good information on the charger and what to look for when using it with the mobile app. A great team to work with. read more

Scam HVAC Protection Plan. Did not sign up for this but was billed. Beware. Avoid at all costs. Check your bills.

This is a shady, terrible company. They do a 12-month "true-up" on budget billing, but there is absolutely no communication of any kind within those 12 months to alert you that you're using more energy than what was budgeted for you. So they can tack on all that extra at one time, and there's nothing they can do about it. BGE does it differently and reviews your account every 3 months, which can be much more digestible. They hit us with an outrageous bill and did absolutely nothing. No arrangement to pay, no help with maybe cutting it back, nothing at all. Their contract to sign up isn't even clear in its wording. They're completely unsympathetic and I'm sure they, like every other company, gets sob stories, but when you've been a good customer, it would have been nice for some kind of heads up, even 6 months in. Absolutely despicable. We're going back to BGE. read more

WOW! To date 51 reviews averaging 1 star!!! What does that tell you!!! I had a service plan to cover my sewer line out front. Sewer line breaks and I had LEN THE PLUMBER come out as it was an urgent situation... Great Company!! They snake it and come out the next day to do video surveillance on my line...It's broke... $8K to replace it. Hey, I have a service plan with Constellation, it covers up to $4K on services... I'll call them. Constellation comes out... They don't video the line, they don't even come in the house. $16K is the quote they gave me. How convenient! I would give them zero stars! I have been five days with no air conditioning in extreme heat. I have called every day and requested a supervisor to call me back because I have a medical condition that is impacted by the heat. No supervisor has ever called. Still waiting day 5 in the heat. This is not the first time this has happened. Would not recommend!!! I even have a home warranty and multiple service contracts with them that I have had for over 15 years and that does get you an appointment any sooner than someone that does not. read more

Heartless company. Our credit card on file updated its expiration date. Constellation didn't collect and sent only one warning email, which went to junk. We are two seniors with impeccable credit record and for one month delay, they cut our power while we were out of town, in the Texas heat (100+F). Food in fridges and freezers ruined. Please avoid this price-gouging company. I had four estimates for replacing an ac unit--strictly ac, no heat pump. Three were around the same price. BGE Home or Constellation as they call themselves gave me a proposal $3,500 (!!!) higher than the highest proposal of the other 3! Not only that but their proposal was for a budget AC--not even a Bryant which is a Carrier branded as lower cost option--while the other 3 were for mid-line Carriers! Think about it. The other 3 companies are making money. I'm sure they have a nice profit margin. Constellation wanted $3,500 more for an inferior product. Signed up for new electric service in Dallas Texas. Constellation sent me a confirmation email with May 13 start date. On May 22 I just happened to check my old provider website and showed still active. I then contacted constellation customer service and told that must be wrong and I was converted over on May 13. After calling my old service provider they confirmed no contact or request from constellation. I then call constellation back and received a new story they did not switch me and was sorry I was never contacted. Now I am stuck with even higher rate from old provider due to contract lapse. Run as far away from these people as you can. We own our own business and Constellation Energy salespeople are constantly stopping by and asking to see our utility bills. I kindly remind them that we have a 'No Solicitors' sign on our door, to which they always respond 'We are not soliciting.' Umm, please look up the definition of soliciting, I usually say. They keep pushing until I say I will have to contact the police, since it is unlawful to ignore a no soliciting sign that is clearly visible. This is a review for the Chicago suburbs They have rang doorbell at least once every two months asking to see my ComEd bill to see if they can get me a lower rate. I've told them each time not to come back to take notice of the "no soliciting" in my window. The most recent one, today, when I asked him not to come back, he pushed and pushed about trying to get me to sign over with them. I then had to threaten to call the police and file charges of harassment and illegal solicitation. Once I threatened to call the police, he got mad and rude and left. read more

She proceeded to try to get me to sign up for Constellation as my electric energy provider. When I asked for her name and asked to see ID she refused. These are shady and illegal practices. This company is crooked. The same sales pitch. They said they sent you a mailing a couple weeks ago(which they didn't), then they want to see your gas and electric bills. Don't do it! They want your account numbers! You should not have to give them this just to get a price. If you agree, the smooth talkin sales person will arrange a phone call from HQ. The problem is their prices and terms do not match! If they get your phone number, they will hound you non stop, even if you tell them to stop calling. So my best advice, hang up them, don't answer your door or just cut them short and tell them your not interested. Keep in mind, you could get slammed, so watch your bills and deal with people who send you mailings. The deal is meaningless unless it is on paper. read more

It took them five days to call me back when I tried to set up new service for a home that I was purchasing. The promise was to call me back the next day. When they didn't call me back, I knew to steer clear and go with another company. I wouldn't have written this review if they hadn't called me back five days later being so pushy to cancel the other company and go with them. Constellation Energy is the single worst utility company I have ever encountered. The on-line account management and customer service is the worst I have seen after working with dozens of utility companies in multiple states over several decades. If they have a promotion that is a few cents cheaper by therm I suggest you do not take it as it is not worth the hassle when they complete screw up your account. read more

I signed a contract with them at an agreed upon rate, not a quote, but docusigned a contract, only to get an email back that they would no longer honor the rate and said they were moving me to double the amount. Although my wife and I have stellar credit (780-820 FICO scores), Constellation Energy made us pay a $350 credit deposit on 07/18/2018. So beware of that when contracting with them. For full disclosure, they did refund that $350 as credits on our bills after we paid full and on-time for a full year. I just do not believe we should have been made to pay the deposit in the first place. They were a reliable provider and we had no issues with their provision of electricity during our contract. We switched because, by May 2020, utility rates dropped drastically since we signed up with Constellation. When we tried to cancel the existing policy and sign up at a lower rate with them, they refused to provide a lower rate notwithstanding that we were willing to pay the $99 termination fee. By switching to another provider, we are saving over $400/year even after paying the $99 termination fee. We could have still been their customer if they chose to be reasonable. read more

I got somebody right away if I wanted to add service but to cancel I had to talk to a different customer representative. I have been on hold now for 51 minutes hearing every 2 minutes about how customer care is their highest priority, I would hate to see what their lowest priority is if this is the best they can do for their highest priority. read more

Unfortunately the reasons for both leaving this company as my gas service provider and for leaving this low review are very simple and so fixable. 1) THEY DONT HAVE A WAY TO PAY YOUR BILL ONLINE. I didn't even know there was a company who doesn't take payments online any more? Instead you have to call, get forwarded to 5-6 numbers to finally pay your bill over the phone.it took 20 minutes just to pay my bill every month. That alone was why I left 2) When I decided to not renew after my 12 month contract was finished, they attempted to charge me a $150 cancellation fee for early termination. No, you cannot rob me over money you aren't contractually obligated to when I have fulfilled my 12 month contract with every payment on time!! I'm glad I was able to catch this in time, but I really do feel badly for all anyone who might just automatically pay the erroneous fee thinking it was correct. Note: This is a review for service in Georgia. Gas deregulation in Georgia was supposed to save customers a lot of money but it has been nothing but fraud. To compare, a low gas usage residence in Washington, DC using about 9 therms pays around $17.00 for their service. In Georgia, the same usage costs about $39.00. What is the difference? Nothing. It's just fraud and a way to nickel and dime the public under the ruse of savings and choice. In Georgia, you still pay Atlanta Gas & Light and that is clear on your bill from Constellation. Now, you just pay an additional monthly service fee to Constellation and a depressingly ridiculous "savings" rate per therm. I renewed my rate plan recently and was assigned a new customer number. After the new contract started, I began getting collections calls from Constellation's collection bots. Some days, the bots would call 13 times in a row. I finally answered one of the calls and was advised that my account was past due and scheduled for disconnection on 10/10/14. Pressing "0" just causes the bot to hang up and then call back in five minutes. When setting up my new account, someone or something did not close the previous account and it was left open with an unclosed balance. It took five days and five calls to resolve it, but it was finally solved in their mysterious labyrinth of a computer system that seems to do all sorts of things on its own free will--yeah right. I got a measly $10 credit after waiting for thirty minutes for a supervisor to look at the accounts. She was perplexed how someone could have two active accounts at one address. I was just pissed and wanted off the damn phone. read more

Was going to sign up but their website was buggy and wouldn't accept my submission, so I called. I spoke to an agent and we were going through the process. Before finalizing he needed me to agree to various terms and conditions. As he was reading them I interrupted and said I needed to think about it. The agent agreed (after a TON of back and forth) and asked when I would have a decision. I said after the weekend. He said he'd call me on Tuesday if he hadn't heard from me and I said that was fine. Instead of calling he simply signed me up for service. When I called the call center back I asked for a manager, Carlos. Which multiplied my usage by 1.5 rather than 1 (like my old company that I switched from). I recently moved homes in Houston and had to transfer my electricity service with Startex/ Constellation Energy. The rep on the phone was pushing this home warranty service from Constellation Home and I clearly said "no" because home warranty was included with the purchase of my new house. Very common! Not only was I charged a $250 early cancellation fee on my electric, Constellation Home signed me up for home warranty service anyway and sent me several invoices. With a couple of emails I was able to get them to waive the $250 fine because I just moved electric with the same company from one house to the other. BUT there was no email address on the home warranty invoice so I had to take the time to call. I connected with a customer service rep and then was transferred to someone else when they realized it was a cancellation. This jerk repeatedly tried to get me to talk about how their warranty coverage compares to mine and roll over me with a full sales pitch. I finally had to say "It doesn't matter. I already said no, I don't even want to have this conversation!" Finally he agreed to zero out the account and stop the invoices, since I NEVER AGREED TO THIS SERVICE. If I could rate them -10 i would. All of a sudden I have been getting calls from Constellation about rejoining them after I moved. I asked politely at 1st that i am not interested in getting in to their no getting out without a still penalty contracts, but apparently they will not take NO for an answer. So for the past 3 weeks, I have been getting robo calls 3 or 4 a day despite angrily and profanely advising them to get lost, blocking them,(no good) and ignoring their calls So far to no avail. My local township let these people take over my gas bill from duke energy. I have submitted an opt out a few weeks ago. I got another letter from them a few days ago informing me my bill will be due to them. So I called again to opt out. I asked for an official letter stating I'm opting out and they won't send me a letter confirming it. They only gave me a confirmation number each time. Well I've already confirmed they didn't accept my first opt out confirmation number. And to top it off their rate for gas is higher than duke energy. If I get a bill from these people I will have no choice but to contact my state attorney general. read more
