The main problem and downside is that they are very expensive and overcharge. Despite the Yelp page saying that the company provides a "free estimate", I was quoted $49 for the technician to travel. In addition, if I had not chosen to go ahead with the repair, the company would have charged me an additional $150 diagnostic fee. Essentially, despite the yelp profile stating a "free estimate", it will cost you closer to $200 to get a quote. I see this as false advertisement. In addition, when the technician concluded that the problem was the capacitor, I received a final quote of $600. When I googled the price of the same capacitor online, the price range was in between 75$ - 150$. Essentially, they are charging a premium of at least $450 per replacement for a single part (capacitor). Despite their professionalism and quality work, I do not recommend this company for the reasons stated above. If price is not a concern for you, and you would rather pay twice the market value for a job then you should definitely choose them. EDIT: I actually googled the price of a capacitor and offered to buy my own. I was told that by the technician that if I purchased my own capacitor that the company would not install it. In conclusion, they did not address any of my concerns. Unfortunately, after reading the other bad reviews, there seems to be a consistent pattern of discrepancies between what they tell customers and what they instruct technicians to say on site. Making an honest living is so much more rewarding than making it dishonest living.

My scheduled maintenance appointment was missed during the confirmed service window, and I had to call to find out what happened. On another occasion, a plumbing appointment was rescheduled after it had already been confirmed, creating unnecessary inconvenience. During a later service visit, I received repair and maintenance recommendations that seemed far higher than what I ultimately found elsewhere. While everyone should get multiple estimates, the differences were significant enough that I decided to seek other opinions. The most disappointing part was the customer service. I completed a satisfaction survey, emailed management twice, and was promised follow-up calls that never came. As a long-time customer, I expected someone to take ownership of my concerns. That never happened. The technicians I interacted with were professional and courteous, so this review is not about them. It's about the company's lack of responsiveness when a long-term customer raised legitimate concerns. After 15 years, I canceled my maintenance agreement and moved my business elsewhere. That's something I never expected to do, but the trust that had been built over many years was lost.

We went through weeks of searching for companies and most companies didn't have the actual proper insurance and license to work in Virginia. Once blue collar scholars took over, the job got on track and communication was perfect. During the permitting, inspection scheduling, framing, and finishing portions of the job. We now have a custom gazebo and a full Trex deck that our whole family loves during the spring, summer and fall months. When it is warm in the winter, we are also out on it as well. This job was completed in the summer of 2023 and we are now using them for some interior work.

I won't get into all the details but to summarize: we had water leaking onto lawn and down to street; two people came to house and without any problem-solving other than walking around basement and commenting on things unrelated to our problem told us it would be $11,000 to replace our water supply line. I said that a previous company quoted us $6800 (that's another story) and they left. They called back and said that their manager said they would now reduce their quote to the $6000 range! Just like that. No analysis, no attempt to understand the problem, just arbitrary BS... charging what the traffic will bear. Long story short: WSSC came to our house and diagnosed the problem as a leak in the line that is NOT our responsibility B/C of its location and it will be repaired at no cost to us. The company is named Catons Plumbing and they should not be allowed to do business. Period. And, I wrote their manager before writing this review, to give him an opportunity to explain to me how so a thing can take place. Needless to say, I have not heard back. BUYER BEWARE!

If you get him--he's tall, about 6 feet with glasses and long salt & pepper hair that's in a low bun--just know he's incredibly straightforward and blunt. Our AC hadnt been working for about 36 hours and while I IMMENSELY appreciate his coming out today, when I asked him a question about something our thermostat's been doing he interrupted and said "oh you have the heat on" like that'd been the issue. It wasn't. I had to cut him off and explain the thermostat, installed by Pepco years before we moved in, goes to that first before you click the button one more time to get it to AC. How did he not assume that? He went outside to check our actual AC unit and then came back around, saying "you've got a bad compressor". When I asked if that was an easy fix, because I didn't know, he scoffed and said "yeah, i've got one in the truck. Same blunt, kind of dismissive "why don't you know that" tone. The High's technician did not inspect the fire box or damper. He was rude and extremely unprofessional. And clearly had some type bias. We found it astonishing that the company invoiced us for $285.00 covering the 10 minute inspection. On March 20, 2026, we had our chimney and fireplace inspected and cleaned by a top rated DMV chimney service. The new company spent 2.5 hrs at our home and informed us that they needed to clean the flu First in order for them to make a professional assessment. And did not see any need to issue any refrain from use order upon completion of the services rendered, as was done by the High's Chimney technician. Imagine a company conducting a ten minute inspection and then stating we needed over $15k in Chimney repairs. Our legal counsel will file formal complaints with all relevant regulatory agencies.

We have been fighting with this company for nearly a year over a faulty egress window they…read moreinstalled. Initially we were given two options for the egress window. 1) cut out the top of the concrete and use a wooden header - this was the cheaper option. 2) leave concrete at the top and install a metal support. We requested this option and paid the amount for this. However the wooden header option was completed which did not match the rest of the house. We were told this was the only possible option yet we were charged the price quoted for the concrete/metal header. We didn't complain; however, soon after we discovered the window was leaking so much air that it was whistling when we had windy days. You can even see light through the side of the window. We sent photos and a video showing this and someone came out to our house twice to verify this, but they fixed nothing. We have been told repeatedly that it's an issue with the window manufacturer and someone would get back to us with next steps. Our whole basement finishing project is on hold and it will cost us even more money to bring contractors back to trim and paint the window after it gets replaced, not to mention increased utility bills and the potential for water damage. It seems our calls and e-mails are being ignored. We tried to get this resolved civilly, but it looks like we have no choice but to hire an attorney.
