Over a decade ago Aspen Hill was a subcontractor on our home remodel and replaced all our old galvanized pipes. A few weeks later when our shower pan started leaking we didn't know who else to call, so we had them come back. After the plumber who came had a look, they let us know that it seemed they had nicked the shower pan with the saw when cutting out the pipes below it and hadn't noticed. They then replaced the shower pan for free, paid someone to come out and retile it, and even sent me a check for the drywall repair that I did myself! I wouldn't have known any different if they had just told me it had developed a leak and charged me for the repair. But they earned a loyal customer with their honesty! Since then we've used Aspen Hill for many jobs--big and small--at multiple houses. They're dependable, honest, and quick to respond. Around X-mas time, my old hydronic heating system finally died, exactly when the temperatures dropped to below freezing. I approached 7 companies, asked for and received 4 proposals. Aspen Hill was the second lowest but the best detailed proposal and time schedule to replace my hot water boiler and the heater for hydronic heating system. Aspen provided free estimates, emailed the proposal the next day, promptly responded to my questions and stood by their word to have new equipment installed by mid-January at the latest. As we were two days before the scheduled installation, another disaster struck: the old iron pipe ( soil stack) that goes through my entire old historic townhouse cracked and there were leakages on each floor. Aspen sent their plumber the next morning and then started working on the pipe replacement and the boiler/heating installation simultaneously. The team of 3 that worked in my house was led by Richard, all of them were fantastic: young, professional, knowledgeable, polite, absolutely wonderful and very respectful to my house and my family. They did their best to minimize the cuttings into the walls and the ceilings, especially in the tiled areas. In my view ( and I've managed several construction and reno projects), they did an outstanding job. The final price was not cheap ( due to a large scope of work) but very reasonable for the type of work and number of staff who were involved. There was a minor hick up after the installation of the heating system, I reached out to Aspen and they promptly scheduled for Richard's team to come back to fine tune the thermostats set up. I am very very pleased with the result. My home is warm and dry again. I am also pleased to finally find a professional, reliable and reasonably priced plumbing company. It may seem like a relatively simple job, but I had selected fixtures and plumbing that required rerouting supply lines into very precise locations for aesthetic reasons. I've used Aspen Hill Plumbing multiple times over the past 8-10 years. They've fixed broken bathtub faucets and sink shut-off valves, removed and replaced toilets (one of which was challenging due to requiring a built-up seal), snaked / "roto-rooted" a problematic main drain / sewage pipe that's probably 80-100 years old (old house in Capitol Hill), and put in a new gas hot water heater. One time, they also replaced a bad gas connection to my stove even though that wasn't why they were there. Workmen have always been friendly, management has always been helpful in scheduling and estimating costs for things like the water heater. (It helps that I email them photos, when I can, of what needs work, or what space is available to work with for things like the water heater.) Costs have always seemed fair and reasonable to me, and communication has been good by both phone and email. read more

I am almost hesitant to write a review, for fear that they will get more popular than they are - it took me two weeks to get an appointment. You might ask why they are so popular: As honest as they get - they will clearly tell you their hourly rate they don't double the price of parts compared to retail - actually cheaper than Amazon they truly guarantee their work - once I had a repeat issue - they came back, no charge very professional staff, always on time I only wish they were less popular so I can get faster appointments. So do me a favor and go for the other guy who charges "by the job" and doesn't give an estimate (or even an hourly rate) even when you know exactly what the problem is, until they walk through the door and charge you $49 for visiting and giving you an estimate. The other guy might even offer a coupon! Then after using the coupon they will only charge you double what Aspen Hill Plumbing does. But if you do use the other guy, not only might you you get a really pretty magnet in the mail (to put on your refrigerator) with coupons, you will be helping me get a quicker appointment the next time I have a plumbing issue. read more

These are the best plumbers ever. I got four proposals. Theirs was not cheapest, but was most responsive to my needs. They scheduled a start date in six weeks - May 24, 8:00 AM. On that date, at that time, they were there. Richard and Moses did the work. They replaced the low-hanging, old steam pipes for the radiators with copper pipes so we could eliminate multiple low soffits. They also moved gas lines and water lines for the same purpose. Finally, they installed three new radiators. Richard went way out of his way to route the pipes in the best possible way. This made his work much harder than it had to be, but it made my finish work so much easier and cleaner. The quality of the work is outstanding. They took no shortcuts. The work is actually beautiful to behold. I hate to cover it up with drywall. The connections in the utility room should be on exhibit at an art gallery. I had to wait about a week to get an appointment with them that would fit my schedule. I knew it was going to be a big job to fix the shower pipes that became separated after I had my tub refinished. It was a horribly rainy day, so they were a bit behind, but the office manager called to let me know when my plumber would arrive. The job took about two hours, but everything works now! Yay for hot showers! I even had Tom, the plumber put in water shut off valves so I won't have to have water cut off to the whole building if there is a next time. I had a small but necessary job - the drain pipe under my sink was leaking, and they agreed to come out quickly to resolve the issue. Destroyed tile, owner is shady and rude. Had a call for a shower trim replacement, but they insisted on replacing the rough in valve even though it was Delta to Delta? Cut a hole in the drywall through the back but slipped and knocked 10 tiles off the wall. Refused to contact their insurance (do they even have any?) and attempted to bully me into letting it go. After all this, they sent a fraudulent invoice with extra time (security cameras show otherwise). Literally anyone else would have had this simple job done in a couple hours. read more

Each time, they were on time, courteous, efficient, and reasonably priced. Generally, I feel like I'm being ripped off by plumbers, electricians, HVAC, etc. Not so with Aspen Hill Plumbing! The estimates are on-target, and sometimes even cheaper than the initial quote. They never try to make you pay for more than what you need, and are honest about the problem and fix. Yay! read more

I live in the heart of DC and I've used Aspen Hill Plumbing 2 times in the last 2 years. Both great experiences. This past week, I had a plumbing dishwasher issue and tried the "if you can't we can" mega plumbers guys thinking they'd be fastest...and it was a huge disappointment, they gave me an 8-noon window, didn't show by noon so I cancelled. I turned to Aspen Hill plumbers and they gave me a 2 hour window, arrived on time and fixed us right up. They come when they said they will, will do a great job and will be extremely courteous. I hired Aspen Hill in 2013 for a major home improvement project: 1) To replace interior galvanized water pipes with CPVC (I've a 1350 sq ft rowhouse) 2) To install thermal expansion tank 3) To demolish shower stall in the basement; build a pre-slope for new shower (required digging through foundation in the basement and installing a p-trap). 4) To install a hose faucet 5) To replace waste and overflow tub drain Two winters later the pipes are still holding on. The project involved removing necessary drywall and plaster (I chose to hire a carpenter to repair demolished walls and ceilings). Aspen installed other fixtures throughout the house. Dave Glick provided a detailed quote (which was reasonable) with different options. He was willing to be flexible in terms of my wishes. His team didn't seem to complain about lack of street parking in my neighborhood (I posted emergency parking signs for their van which were always ignored by DC folks). I also hired them on a different occasion when I was installing a new bathroom sink. They seem to work by appointment only (I don't think you can hire them for emergency situations, but they seem accommodating). After smelling sewage in my house, I realized that one of our waste vent pipes vented into the attic ! I talked to neighbors and almost all of them referred me to Aspen Hill. These guys are just the best: honest, efficient, arrive on time, and are really easy to schedule. We were referred to Aspen Hill by our realtor, who has used them on his own properties so we assumed they would be pretty good, but our expectations were exceeded. The owner Dave was easy to reach by email and was really flexible when it when it came to scheduling (we scheduled, then cancelled then scheduled again! Dave was gracious the entire time). Initially we hired Aspen Hill to replace a deteriorated overflow pipe/connection in our tub and to remove a pedestal sink we planned to replace in our Capitol Hill townhouse. Tom the plumber also discovered that the sink valves were leaking too! Thankfully he found an easy solution to stop the valves until we got a new sink in place. We had them come out again to install our new vanity/sink and shower head. The two guys (can't remember their names) worked with our weird existing sink pipes and did a great job installing the sink and caulking the vanity to the wall. They completed the job under the estimated time and only charged us for the time they were there. I've had so much trouble hiring other contractors but Aspen Hill makes it really easy.
