I made it very clear that the technician bring a drop cloth to place over my hardwood flooring, towels to wipe up water, and a bucket/pan to place underneath the sink to catch any water. This should be standard of any plumber that shows up to any home. No customer should have to tell a plumbing company this. None of these items were brought by the technician, Jeff. Instead, Jeff just showed up with a very dirty and rusted snake in a contractor bag, the smallest of rags, and no pan/bucket. Jeff dragged the dirty snake all over the hardwood flooring, ended up using my tenant's towels and pan - and he was slower than molasses in doing the job...he kept taking breaks while on the job. My tenant actually took the pan of water to the bathroom to empty in the toilet. Jeff failed to connect all of the snake together the first time - so he had to snake it a second time and add more links to the snake. Horrible experience. Just horrible. I will never again be using or recommending this company. I feel I was ripped off when it came to the amount charged as well. The high ratings shown do not reflect my experience at all. I don't like to give negative reviews - but I feel this one is definitely needed.

His prices are fair and explanations are helpful. I appreciate that he answered all of my questions patiently and in a way I could understand -- even if it meant he had to repeat himself lol. He also didn't try to upsell us on unnecessary repairs! I'm very happy with the customer service and the completed work.

The main problem and downside is that they are very expensive and overcharge. Despite the Yelp page saying that the company provides a "free estimate", I was quoted $49 for the technician to travel. In addition, if I had not chosen to go ahead with the repair, the company would have charged me an additional $150 diagnostic fee. Essentially, despite the yelp profile stating a "free estimate", it will cost you closer to $200 to get a quote. I see this as false advertisement. In addition, when the technician concluded that the problem was the capacitor, I received a final quote of $600. When I googled the price of the same capacitor online, the price range was in between 75$ - 150$. Essentially, they are charging a premium of at least $450 per replacement for a single part (capacitor). Despite their professionalism and quality work, I do not recommend this company for the reasons stated above. If price is not a concern for you, and you would rather pay twice the market value for a job then you should definitely choose them. EDIT: I actually googled the price of a capacitor and offered to buy my own. I was told that by the technician that if I purchased my own capacitor that the company would not install it. In conclusion, they did not address any of my concerns. Unfortunately, after reading the other bad reviews, there seems to be a consistent pattern of discrepancies between what they tell customers and what they instruct technicians to say on site. Making an honest living is so much more rewarding than making it dishonest living.

I called Champion Plumbing & Drains on a Sunday for an emergency visit for an actively leaking…read morewater heater at a tenant occupied rental property. At the initial visit, the technician/owner diagnosed the tank as rusted and leaking from the bottom and said it needed to be replaced. Champion quoted me $3,250 for the replacement and scheduled it for Tuesday. At the emergency visit, the gas to the heater was shut off, but the water supply to the leaking tank was not isolated. The heater kept dripping and wetting the carpet outside the closet. I called the owner, Gus, because I was trying to understand why the water had not also been shut off and how my tenants were supposed to safely use the plumbing while waiting for the replacement. My tone during that call was information collecting, not accusatory. I was trying to understand what had been done, why the tank was still leaking, and how to minimize additional damage. Gus became defensive and told me, "I never told you I turned the water off." I was not blaming him. I was asking a pretty basic question about an active leak. It was Labor Day weekend and during that call it sounded like he was at some type of social event and did not really want to be bothered. I understand it was a holiday weekend, but I had paid $200 for an emergency visit and was dealing with an active leak at a rental property less than 24 hr after the visit. At the end of the call he abruptly hung up, and right before it disconnected I heard him say, "fucking people." The replacement was still scheduled for Tuesday. He knew I had three tenants in the property and that they effectively could not use the water at all because running water was making the leak worse. Tuesday came and the scheduled arrival time passed with no one showing up and no communication. I reached out asking for an ETA. Only then was I told they were fully booked and had to "pass on the opportunity." No rescheduled time was offered. When I later followed up with Gus through Yelp asking why they no showed and why he could not even give me another appointment time, his response was, "that's on you my man I don't deal with rude people." I completely disagree with that characterization. My tone had been focused on gathering information about the leak and how to manage it safely, not accusing him or his company of anything. If he decided after our phone call that he did not want the job, that is fine, but the professional thing to do would have been to tell me before the scheduled appointment. Instead, they just did not show up and I had to reach out after the appointment time had already passed. To their credit, they did refund the $200 emergency service fee. I had to find another company to do the replacement. Unfortunately they could not do it until Friday, so my three tenants were left without usable water for several more days. That company also only charged about $2,600 for the replacement compared with Champion's $3,250 quote. After all of this I went back and read the negative reviews more closely and wish I had done that first. There are multiple reviews describing similar experiences with the owner becoming defensive or offended when customers ask questions or raise concerns. After my own experience, those reviews made a lot more sense. They did correctly diagnose the failed water heater and they refunded the emergency fee, but the way everything was handled after that was unacceptable. Scheduling an urgent replacement, not showing up, not giving any advance notice, knowing three tenants were without water, then telling me "that's on you my man I don't deal with rude people" because I asked questions about an active leak is not how I would expect a professional company to operate. I would not use them again.

He installed a brand-new water heater, and when it appeared there was still an issue, he went above and beyond by replacing it a second time to make sure the problem wasn't with the unit itself. What impressed me most was Matt's honesty, professionalism, and commitment to helping me get the issue resolved. Even after determining the problem was electrical, he worked with me on pricing and generously discounted his services so I could put those savings toward getting the breaker repaired. It's rare to find someone who genuinely prioritizes helping the customer over simply completing a job. Matt was responsive, knowledgeable, and incredibly fair throughout the entire process. I highly recommend him and his company to anyone in need of plumbing or water heater services.

Jake was our plumbing technician and he did a thorough job replacing copper pipes with color-coordinated tubing in the upstairs bathroom. We had a water pressure problem after he left, and Jimmy Gusky had another tech at the house the next day to resolve it - the solution was really simple and had to do with sediment settlement near a valve when the water main was off for repairs. It was a bit embarrassing, frankly, to have a plumber open the valve when we could have done so ourselves to clear the sediment and restore water pressure. Both plumbers were great about explaining their work and the rationale behind it while they were in our home.
