My local township let these people take over my gas bill from duke energy. I have submitted an opt out a few weeks ago. I got another letter from them a few days ago informing me my bill will be due to them. So I called again to opt out. I asked for an official letter stating I'm opting out and they won't send me a letter confirming it. They only gave me a confirmation number each time. Well I've already confirmed they didn't accept my first opt out confirmation number. And to top it off their rate for gas is higher than duke energy. If I get a bill from these people I will have no choice but to contact my state attorney general. read more

My father switched from National Grid to Constellation because of their promise to have cheaper rates. His bill came in over $329 one month and he never even adjusted the thermostat from the previous month when his bill came in at $184. Absolute joke! Had Constellation for natural gas service. I placed a discontinue service order well in advance of my move out date. Constellation decided they could bill me beyond that date even though service from AGL continued to the new tenants. Customer No Service tried every trick to be right when they were wrong. If you save from a slightly better therm rate, they will have you make up for it another way. You cannot trust them with fair billing. Beware of the details. read more

For some reason, they were never able to pull a credit report automatically so they said they were going to try to do it manually and call me back. Never heard a word. Constellation Energy changed billing systems in the last 6 months. I was on budget billing and had a credit balance. When they converted to the new system that credit balance did NOT carry over. It took me a week to prove to these idiots that my budget credit balance was missing; they found it after I sent them an excel spread sheet proving it. I have been keeping a spreadsheet for years as constellation balance does NOT show up on the BGE bill. Don't know what to tell people as I have no idea how YOU will be able to prove this unless you were keeping a spread sheet. Maybe calling Constellation Energy to see what you budget billing balance was at time of billing for the LAST 9 months. read more

Told him i did not want to sign up because the bill nor the house is on my name. and 2 weeks after that we get a card in the mail saying "thank you for switching to constellation" Called them immediately and they said that supposedly they were gonna cancel it within 30 days. i was really mad and went off on them, 1 day after that we get a card in the mail from txu energy, the company we had and it said it was our final bill. so freakinn constellation switched us over , cancelled our txu account and NEVER even asked for my dad because everything is on his name, the only thing the guy asked was if i was 18 years old. I began to use constellation NewEnergy power supply service 7-8 years ago. Recently, I received a letter from another power supply company which give me better rate. So I switch to this company. On 2/23/2015, I received a letter from Constellation which stated I would be charged $150 early termination fee if I didn't contact them to give explanation by 2/20/2015. I called them on 2/23/2015, they told me the 12 month contract renew automatically every year. But I used their service many years ago, who can remember the starting date of service. And I don't think I signed any contract with early termination fee. So, when you get promotion from constellation, prepare to pay $150 early termination fee when you end service. They provided a statement that says we can rescind the service within ten days but even though we've called them multiple times, they continue to put us off and will not cancel the service. Received my March bill (it takes two billing cycles to switch to another provider) and it was no better...another $500 from Constellation. To date I have sent a certified letter, called multiple times and sent over 20 emails. I've filed complaints with the BBB, NJ Utilities Commission and Consumer Affairs. They wanted us to re-enroll our account online. Their website is very confusing and need to be changed. They gave us no instruction in how to re-enroll. Be aware that your initial rate may be low but they will switch you to a variable rate that will not be shown on your bill and will be double the industry rates in effect. I started with a little lower rate than JCP&L when I signed up through NEA. I did not notice any real increase until the variable kicked in without notice - then the almost tripled their initial rate and was double the standard JCP&L rate. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - I tried to speak with a customer service manager for three weeks now and no one will return my calls. Poor service, poor ethics, high prices. For a company that says it is in the business of saving you money they sure can cost you money - AND it takes thirty days to switch back! Complete SCAM! Their sales person named Alec came to my door asking to see my last bill with current electric company and says they can save me on the encore charges. He said I'd get a $150 gift card to spend however I want for joining them as a new customer. Alec also said that if my unit breaks down they will cover $2000 towards a NEW unit. Of course I signed up. It's been 5 months I haven't received the gift card so I called their customer service number waited about 15 minutes to speak with someone to be told I don't qualify for a gift card because I didn't have her early termination fee and that's what the gift card is for, the termination fee.I also asked, how about the $2000 towards a new unit? They said that's not accurate it's $2,000 for yearly cost coverage if your unit needs fixing. I had Alec's number saved and text him and he said he no longer works for constellation. SCAM! What Settle Chef B says times ten!!!! Someone actually did sign me up for on-line payment with my VISA debit card through WesternUnionPay. Then, in October, my debit card was hacked and I received notification from Constellation that my payment failed. Fair enough. I called them up, told them the card and my bank had been hacked, and offered up another card to replace the old. Oh, no, they said! We don't offer automatic payments!!! I read the bounce notices, from them, verbatim and asked why they would be sending me failure notices on my hacked bank card if they hadn't tried to process a payment. Obviously, this was PROOF POSITIVE that at some time they HAD indeed offered automatic payments, and I had the receipts to prove it through September 2016! I went through this routine in October, the day after the card was hacked, and again in November, when I received notification that they had tried to process a payment. Each time I spent at least a half hour going round and round. Logic is lost on these people. So I asked, can I pay right now with a credit card, and yes was the answer - until he found out it was a Discovercard! I am a teensy weensy little retail store, and I accept all forms of credit cards from Amex to Visa! And yet a utility company does not accept a Discovercard?! This is the hardest company ever to pay and keep on top of your payments!!!! I would never in a million years recommend them, and I think if I check, that I've probably been overpaying as well. Deregulation was the worst thing to happen to business owners. Now they have to spend half their time trying to muddle through the confusion and misdirection of competing companies. I used constellation in Atlanta for 2 years. My advice not worth it! Every time I had to call customer service it was not a pleasant experience. Then when I tried to cancel my account when I moved, I had to call THREE SEPARATE TIMES for them to STOP billing me and just cancel my account. Every time a rep (sometimes reps) from Constellation Energy has come to our door, our experience was similar to that posted by Andrei T. However, I never let them see my utility bills. This evening the rep was by far the pushiest ever to darken my door! I don't think I've ever encountered someone that pushy at my door before - it was like dealing with one of those telemarketers on the phone that won't take no for an answer! I was polite but tried to save his time & mine and told him as soon as he said his name & who he was representing that I wasn't interested. His response, "not interested in what?" I told him, "whatever you're selling." Since encountering these reps before, I knew when he said that he wasn't selling anything, that wasn't true - their goal is to get you to sign a contract with them as your energy supplier. He said something like my accounts were past due (they're not) & he had some solutions to offer, blah blah blah. I told him again I wasn't interested, my supplier contracts were locked in recently. He still persisted that he could get me out of the contracts without it costing me anything and how our electric company tricks people into thinking we're locked in (which is also not true). I told him again I wasn't interested and he persisted. I finally told him I wasn't going to argue with him because I was not interested. He finally wished me a good evening and left. He was so pushy that I thought I was going to have to call the police to get him off my property. "Never say never" but pretty close to it - the tactics used by Constellation reps are so shady I can't imagine ever doing business with them ever. read more

She told me it's okay to change her company and make me to sign. But I was very concern about early termination fee. She keep speaking of lie that it's okay no problem.. later I got call from my supply company that I'm still in contract and they will charge me termination fee. I call broker but she told me to ignore call or email or everything from previous company. She's giving me too much trouble. I wish I could comprehend how a company could perform so poorly with customer service and continue to survive. As a potential new customer I was informed that they had a quick question and that I should contact their customer service a call and provided a number. From there I was given another number, who gave me a third number, and so on until the fifth number referred me to the first number. My frustration was further compounded by the fact that not one time did any of these "customer service reps" ask what my issue was, they just gave me a different number. When I finally did get a hold of someone, this time to verify my potential account would not be listed, and to complain, the person informed me that the email was sent automatically and they had corrected the issue immediately after sending it. My only regret in writing this now is that based on the reviews already listed on this, and other, review sites, the company could not care less and wont bother changing. read more
