I stopped in this weekend to take a look at the deeply discounted items. I found a good buy and took notice of a few regular price eye-catchers. Other reviewers note references to separation between the clothing & shoe items but I have not experienced this. All in all, a solid option well suited for the caliber of residents in the area and shopping corridor. Additionally, layaway is an option with a thirty percent deposit. Different usually comes at a price, but a few times a year, you can snag a pair of Pikolinos for $50 on sale. If in the area, definitely worth a stop. Happy Shopping!

My husband and I were staying in Oak Park for a night. In the morning, we did a stroll for coffee,…read moreshops, and architecture viewing. As we were walking, my husband pointed out a dress shop. I looked, and realized he had pointed it out because it looked like it was my style. When I walked in, it was totally just my style. It was mostly dresses, with some pants, jeans and tops, as well as accessories....with a few other gift items. I had a party to attend a week later, and was traveling, so didn't have access to my whole wardrobe, and was in desperate need of a dress. The dresses in 16 Suitcases ranged from business casual, to weekend brunch dress, to evening fancy. I felt the prices were pretty reasonable for the dresses. I did briefly look at the accessories, which I do think were a bit overpriced. Anyway, I found several dresses that I loved, but narrowed them down to a couple of possibilities when I decided to try the dresses on. The staff was friendly and helpful. I found the perfect dress for the party, It was also one that I felt I could wear throughout the summer. If you love dresses and happen to be near Oak Park, I highly recommend that you check out 16 Suitcases.

Extremely Disappointed - Faulty Product & No Accountability…read moreI purchased earrings from 16 Suitcases on July 19th and asked about the return policy at checkout -- I was told 7 days. The next day, I came back because the earrings were clearly faulty (they wouldn't unlatch nor could I get them off the label). I was then told there's a no returns on earrings policy -- something that was never mentioned and not posted anywhere in the store. I left the earrings with the shop in hopes the owner would review them and see the issue firsthand. Over the next 3-4 weeks, I called weekly, left voicemails, and spoke with multiple staff members -- no one ever got back to me. I called again last week and was told the owner would reach out. It's now been 5 more days, and still nothing. I've been patient and respectful throughout, but this level of disregard is unacceptable. The store has both my money and the faulty earrings -- and I've received no explanation, no resolution, and no follow-up. I truly feel I've been taken advantage of. Disheartening experience from a place I expected better from.

I was never told things needed to be on hangers, so I didnt. And no one seemed to mind. The second time, I brought a few bags of clothing in, only to receive some major stink eye from the owner. She was beyond upset that I would even think to bring in clothes that werent on hangers. But whatever, she took em. She was very discerning with what she took, so either she was still mad at me or was having an off day. As I looked at the items in the store, there were plenty of items that were over 3 years old, non-label brands (unless JC Penney and Sears are "brands") and really ugly. I peeked into the back room and saw bags of clothing - either stuff is still over priced (good for me) or she has too much of it and cant get it on the sales floor (bad for me). What facinated me was the process of documenting what people brought and which of those items sold - carbon paper. isnt it 2009? Not so surprising that when my consignment period ended in March, I never received a check. I have tried to call about 4-5 times to get my money, but no dice.
