I couldn't count the number of sunglasses I have purchased from here if I tried. I always leave with at least one pair, a book, and various other items whether a tote bag, t shirt, button, cards, etc. I hope the business continues to be successful and would love to the location even expand a bit if that's something the owner is interested in.

Also, I would like to thank all of the people that have come out to support businesses in this area that were hit hard by the current political climate in Washington D.C. At the height of violence in our streets I tried to do my best by supporting some of these businesses. During this phase 18th street looked like a ghost town on a Saturday. Normally on a Saturday in this neighborhood has people teeming everywhere and the smell of an asado in the air (Yum). Having time off and having an asado is the perfect way to relax and spend time with your family. Plus, who doesn't like the smell of an asado? Well during this time period I found this shop that I thought had some really cool and unique stuff. Also, you may notice that they have a fair amount of stuff with the famous Hulu's The Bear line, "Yes Chef, No Chef" on it. If you are a fan of the show like I am, then, the interior will look familiar to you because it was in a seen on the show (I think it was season 3). I immediately recognized the store and thought to myself "cool" and great choice. Anyhow, if you find yourself in the area, pop in and check it out. They are very selective as to which artists around the country they want to buy from and in turn sell their products. Maybe you will find that one unique thing that you have been looking for that you didn't realize you need. I mean, you never know unless you check it out. My fellow Chicagoans, please go out and support your local small shops!

I had a great experience with the gentleman that worked there. He was very attentive, and helped me pick out the most fabulous handbag that is so much more exciting than the regular, cliche Gucci bag that I had planned on buying for her. Their philosophy, he explained, was to have one or two of every item just so you will never run into someone else wearing the same thing! They have such great European designers, and some amazing stories behind all of the designers and how everything would run on her since I do not have much experience with European sizing. I am really sad that they did not have any menswear for me!

I went in to browse when we parked randomly in front of their store. I saw through the window a display of brightly colored "readers" (magnification glasses for us oldsters) and I was so happy. So many different style frames with beautiful colors, and many with blue light glass which is what I needed as a gift for my cousin. They were kind enough to ship them securely and put a ribbon bow on for her birthday. She absolutely LOVED them. Also, I commend them for having a small, but diverse stock of 2.25 magnification. So many other stores jump from 2.00 to 2.50- or even just 3.00 mag. The whole store was clean, organized and looked like the definition of FUN! Will definitely comeback and look when I need a gift for someone (or myself).

Ace is the perfect spot to pick up a trend. If you aren't sure how long that piece will be in style, surely you can drop $10 on a bold statement necklace and not have buyer's remorse. There was also a lot of big, sparkly stuff which is perfect for prom, homecoming, weddings, or wannabe ballers. Not to fret, there is a huge selection of post earrings from simple CZ studs to hearts, stars, and Eiffel Towers. I thought I would easily spend $30 or more here, but I walked out with a $4 silvertone necklace with sparkly pyramids. It's simple, but sort of trendy, so the price can't be beat. I can't speak for the quality, as I have only worn it once, but it is still shining and in one piece. It held up to my friend's baby pulling lightly on it. Even if the necklace "turns" and the metal doesn't stay shiny, I'm not going to be entirely surprised or disappointed. It was four measly dollars. Some of the items were goofy like the "BLACK GIRLS ARE HOT" earrings that each were bigger than the palm of my hand, as well as the bulky imitation Hello Kitty necklaces. Some of the necklace come on snake chains, and if you haven't experienced a snake chain with long hair - watch out, they pull your hair out! So you might want to switch the chains if you buy a necklace here. Some of the aisles on one end of the store, stocked with handbags and scarves, were rather bare and made the place look junky and picked over. Ace is CASH ONLY. There is a credit card minimum, but I believe it is $30. It is easy to reach $30, but bring cash just in case.
