We have a cover and an immaculate pool up-to early this year when we found algae growing on the side of our pool along the steps. Found out they were simply throwing chlorine into our pool once a week rather than using our chlorine tower. Beyond Pool Care started good a couple years ago, but has gone downhill since late 2020. Started having very high turnover so different people cared for our pool every 2-3 months. Our emails used to be responded to with a day, but starting recently, responses take 4-5 days. Sad but true, my experience with Ernie stacked up negative points at every turn. Late December 2017 First he signed me on to regular service and the written in service amount was more than the verbal quote - said he forgot they had raised their rates at year end. I got billed for cleaning the filter - see picture. He may have knocked off the big stuff, but the filter fins were not cleaned. $110, plus $47.50 to 'service' the pool' .January's bill was $279. Then I get a bill of $85 for an hour of labor to diagnose that the pool sweep needed new tires, plus plus so February is $285. I get a bill for March but - guess what, Ernie was never at my property in March. When I asked him about this he 'forgave' the March billing - and I moved on. This company has basically left us with a useless guarantee. Nothing was ever fixed. In fact, they cashed a check for over $4,000 for pool equipment they never ordered, let alone delivered and installed. After over a year of back and forth and many ignored messages, we are filing a formal complaint with the Contractors License Board and hoping to determine the company's insurance company to file a claim. The company has now disconnected their phone line and emails. Moreover, the owner is in the Philippines (but has no money to pay us back) while we deal with his incompetence. A snake oil salesman...... Beyond Pools took over our pool service fall of 2020. They failed to change over pool to Salt, they failed to respond in any reasonable timeframe on inquiries, they hiked their rate 20% "due to Covid" after two months with no response to our questions around this, they doubled their proposal price on a project after we signed estimate (and were $1,500 higher than any other estimate we received - to dig a hole and fill with sand), they billed for services not provided, they fraudulently retained CC information and would sporadically run charges. And the best part, they consistently failed to clean the deep end of our pool because the guy couldn't reach it. A "pool cleaning company"! You can't make this stuff up! I've read the reviews here, on Google, and spoke to a few folks we know that used and quickly fired Beyond Pools.... The consistent theme is poor management, poor hiring choices. At some point take accountability for just being a bad business person. A very unprofessional, unscrupulous small business you should avoid at all costs. read more

BEWARE SAFETY ISSUES This is the worst possible move you can make by allowing these people on your property. My pet (dog) was injured (poisoned) as a result of the negligence of their employee who left behind a dangerous chemical substance that she ingested. This was a tube of some sort of chemical pool substance about the size of a toothpaste tube. Then, to make matters worse, they denied that they were responsible. I am writing this as having never in my life posted a review on Yelp. However, I consider this issue serious enough that the public should be warned. I only hired him to show me how to care for my pool and ended up having him sign on for monthly service! He was very informative, and I swear the pool looked better after he performed the first service of chemicals and cleaning. I had no idea that pool maintenance changed throughout the seasons but it does, and though I want to be able to manage my pool on my own, it's nice to have some help. Then it was time for the first appointment, Friday afternoon Ernie called at 3:00ish to say he was behind schedule and couldn't make it. I had made a point to be home Friday afternoon because I have a temperamental​ German Shepard and need to be present. I Found myself being accused of being inflexible​ and was told he may or may not show up on the scheduled day or time as a rule. I wish he would have begun the conversation with this because a day with a window is acceptable, but 'as I please Louise' doesn't work for me, and more importantly, it doesn't work for Walter. Initially, ​we agreed to a one time charge, but since I signed up for his maintenance​ program it cost more. Ernie didn't show up for his first appointment and told me that my account was prorated and he 'owed me nothing.' In my opinion he owed me the difference between the first quoted one time visit and what I paid! My impression, It's all about Ernie, but at my house, ​it's all about Walter the German Shephard who will go into detail with anyone who enters his backyard unexpectedly. If I had the option for ZERO stars it still wouldn't be justified. Ernie at beyond Pool Care care was horrible to work with!!!!! We were made promise after promise and after a year we had to fire Beyond Pool Care and get another contractor to finish our project. Ernie tried to give us a bill for $73,000 over the original contract, if we wanted him to finish the pool (for increased costs from COVID) I think $73,000 is a bit much for increase in costs!!!!! His workers did horrible work and were very extremely disrespectful to my husband. They failed to do simply requests and we caught so many major mistakes that could have costs us thousands of dollars in repairs. I would NEVER I mean NEVER recommend Beyond Pool Care!! After two years of service apparently Beyond Pool Care is too busy to work with our schedule. So for the last few months they have either been late or not shown up to clean our pool and had to reschedule. After asking several times if a different time and day would work for them, to which I got no response, they quit coming. Now instead of using my pool on this beautiful day I am trying to treat it and clean the algae that has started in the two weeks since they were here last. Ernie has been working at our property for almost 3 years, managing our pool, spa and taking on household projects as well (ie painting, installations, appliance repairs, etc). He keeps an watchful eye on the pool and house and is very good about letting us know when repairs or maintenance is needed. His estimates and billing are in congruence (no surprises). As other reviews have mentioned, there can be periodic delays but nothing of real consequence. We have often have vacation renters at our home and when (pool or house) emergencies arise we know that we rely on Ernie to be there, no matter the hour of the day. I find it hard to post this, but I think perspective customers should be warned. Ernie himself is a great guy, very honest and is trying his hardest to please all his customers (Ernie is the owner). Unfortunately, Ernie can't service all his customers so he has employees, which change very often. So with this comes inexperienced spa maintenance workers. It became a regular occurrence that the spa was not clear, meaning a phone call to Ernie. We pay for weekly service and have had to call multiple times regarding our spa. When you pay for a service, you expect it to not only be done, but be done correctly. This is not the case with Beyond Pool Care. With the growth of Ernies business he hired an office administrator, who is not professional when it comes to dealing with their customers. I hope that his business is able to hire competent people who understand the chemistry of balancing water and customer service. I had a new company take over and they would not touch our spa until we completely drained and refilled with fresh water (if that gives you any idea how screwed up our water was). read more

The owner, Ernie, checks all the boxes you look for - reasonable prices, no surprises, consistently good service, and open and responsive to feedback when something isn't meeting your particular expectations. Ernie's staff - when I have had the chance to meet them - are all friendly, professional, and courteous and seem knowledgeable​ about their work in general and my systems in particular. My pool and spa are always spotless and well maintained and the chemicals balanced. Where Ernie personally goes above and beyond is in situations where things break down or require emergency service. We live part-time​ at our home in Guerneville and rent our place when we are not there. Given this, I rely on Ernie to help me out when there's an issue. Ernie is exceptionally responsive and has been always ready to come to the house the very same day to deal with problems that my guests report. Recently, guests paid to heat the pool during a winter stay. The heater wasn't working when I went to turn it on. Ernie agreed to come out the very same day, quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty igniter, arranged for a friend in the parts store in Santa Rosa to drive the part out, and Ernie personally installed it at 6 am the very next morning. I had the pool heating in time for my guests. He's helped me numerous times with this sort of "emergency" and I can imagine relying on anyone else. We went from 60 to 0 in a couple of years. Service was great to begin with-I was flexible, he was as well. But this past Mid Dec. the hydrostatic valve opened and groundwater started filling the pool. He called me to let me know what the pool looked liked. He said he would consult someone on the problem. After a couple of weeks I called to find out what was wrong. He said the valve had opened and got stuck and would cost $2400 to fix the problem, which he said included drilling a hole in the pool to drain the water coming in and then patching the hole. What did I know? Sure, fix it. Another month passes and no repair. I come up at the end of Feb. and find him draining the pool, which he had to clean with acid since it had sat growing algae for 2 months. I noticed no hole in the pool and yet he still wanted $2400 for the work. I asked why so much for so little work, that I pointed out could have been done at the outset. He said I was paying for his "expertise", not his time. Seriously. I called around and found out this repair is done by a diver who fixes the valve for $650. For someone who came across as sincere and honest at the outset, the biggest disappoint was to discover the depth of his dishonesty and his inability to admit his errors. Beyond Caring might be more appropriate. As my pappy said, "trust no living son of a bitch and walk quietly around the dead". I'm learning... read more
