Owner yelled at me in front of entire salon because of a change to my service. I planned on paying the woman doing my nails extra tip and did end up tipping $30 because I respect the nail artists. Context : I went for short full set but switched to manicure and explained to the woman doing my nails that I just remembered I will have to start shadowing in the OR soon so I wanted to be prepared in case my nails needed to be shorter (she had just glued the tips on so far) she was understanding but the owner came standing over me yelling about it being extra work, talking to me like a child asking me rhetorical questions to get me to answer a certain way, asking the woman why she won't charge me extra, like going back and forth with her insisting she charge me extra. I won't be back I enjoyed the 2 women who helped me and she did my nails fabulously. But this was ridiculous will not be back. read more

My mom usually gets her eye brows here and so she decided to treat me to a spa day (mani/pedi) . We arrived at 4:30 pm due to them saying they were taking walk ins . My mom just wanted a French manicure . After starting on my mom, they said no no let's do your daughter first because it will be quicker . Once I got to the table, I was asked what color I wanted . I stated I wanted a manicure with clear polish . The lady began to file my nails which took her less than a minute then began to rub lotion ( dollar tree quality) on my hands while asking me if if I wanted my nails buffed for $5 more . She answered for me by saying " yes buff good" I said yes, bringing my total up to $29. She then buffed my nails which took no more than two minutes . Not a single coat of clear nail polish as I asked . I would not mind paying $29 if she at least pretended to care or want to do her job the slightest bit. I then returned to the seats with my mom and it was about 6:15.... Still nobody working on her nails . I've always had a good experience coming here. It could look fancier/classier, but for the price, I feel pretty good about it. Plus, it's in a convenient location for me. My most important criteria is cleanliness and I've observed staff cleaning equipment on many occasions which makes me feel better about going. The downside is that my technician ALWAYS tries to sell me something I didn't want that's rather offensive...like facial waxing. My dermatologist's office cares for my face so I feel confident it's baseless upselling efforts. Annoying. I discovered this place a little over a year ago, and I've been coming to get my nails done by Heidy ever since. She does a consistently incredible job with the Shellac! It always comes out perfect, and lasts, and last, and lasts. I get the French Shellac, with colors on the tip; that's my favorite. The last manicure I got was about 4 weeks ago, and it's still on! No peels, no chips, still shiny and so pretty! I'll upload some pics for you to see. Heidy is the best! This review is more so for V than the salon itself but each visit is a positive experience for me! My first visit was a desperate leap of faith but I'm so happy I came! After a couple visits now, I'm ready to give a review. The first time I came in was just to remove an old gel mani I got done while in California but I eventually decided to also get a new gel mani while I was there. V was sooo sweet and easy to talk to and didn't push me to get other services (she asked once about two different services and stopped when I declined) unlike past reviews. She took her time without being too slow and paid such close attention to detail to make sure the entire nail was painted without going into my cuticles (that can be a pain when they grow out.....), my cuticles were cut, and nails were trimmed and shaped evenly. My nails are nothing special -- just a fresh, simple manicure, but they're always looking nice AND MY GEL MANIS LAST FOR 3+ WEEKS!!!!!!!! Yes, they lift a little but they STILL look nice after a full 3 weeks. Also, for $33, I'll continue coming for V. She can do design, though I prefer not to have any. I decided to try out a new place so Yelp directed me to this nail salon. I happened to get Vy, and she did a great job on on my pedicure and gel manicure. I have long nail beds and thicker nails that curve on the edges next to my cuticle. I'm very anal about the polish covering my entire nail as I have had experiences where part of the nail is missing polish. Without me mentioning anything, Vy was very careful and meticulous with my nails, making sure the polish well covered my nails, including the tip of the fingernail so they don't chip early. She's also talented with free hand nail art, as you can see in my photo. I'm happy, and I'll be back to see Vy. read more

With all the the nail salons (more than 15 ) that are located within a few miles of my home you would think they would specialize in good service - wrong wrong wrong!! Remember they are doing you/you a service by accepting your money and generous tip and doing your nails! I get there after an exhausting and stressful day at work hoping to be pampered just a little and have some of the stress go away before I get home I walk into the shop and I'm greeted by an older woman asking, "what you want?" No smile, no welcome, no how can we help you. Just rudeness and pushiness to get me in and out as quickly as possible. It seems to be all about production - in and out as quickly as they can. I left there more stressed than when I first came in. I recently had to have nails repaired just after a fresh gel color manicure. The women who originally gave me my manicure begrudgingly came to repair my nail. With her phone propped on her chin listening and talking, she started to file my torn nail and it hurt. When I winced and made a sound she didn't even acknowledge that she hurt me. I was so angry I looked her straight in the eyes and I asked if she was going to speak on the phone or do my nail? She mumbled something and put the phone down. That's when she started speaking in what may be Vietnamese. Was she calling me a fat cow? Was she telling the other women she hoped I dropped dead? Did she try to put a Buddhist curse on me? Who knows?!!! I paid her, gave her 30% tip - I know I should not have, but I did. I said goodbye and I'm never going there again. Is it wrong to pay and expect to be pampered a little for 20 to 30 minutes with a relaxing manicure or pedicure? Is it wrong for people working in a public business to limit their foreign language conversations until there are no customers? Is it wrong to be treated with respect? They are not doing me a favor. With all the nail salons around me I was doing them a favor by frequenting their salon - and they didn't respect or appreciate my business. :-( read more

This salon is great! Clean, and the staff is very friendly and attentive, but I come here mainly for Lily! She's funny, sweet, very detail oriented. She has been doing my nails since I was 12, and I'm 25 now! I have followed her to other salons in the area so believe me when I say she is one of the best! You could come in with your hands and nails looking like Freddy Krueger's and walk out as Beyoncé. She did my nails for a trip to Vegas and finally convinced me to get Gel polish, and it lasted for four months! During that time there was a lake trip and a beach trip and many days in the pool. Horrible place to get your eyebrows or any waxing done. Zero attention to detail and some of the roughest hands your face will meet. Not sure of the name of my technician and not certain everyone there is like the lady I got but I would not recommend. And if you tell them you're not happy with the service the lady gets really defensive. My face is currently burning and I don't know who told them putting crazy amounts of vasaline is a good idea but that lady needs a refresher course in decorum and waxing. read more

I am the "friend" that Viviane was talking about. Cindy didn't work on my nails, only my eyebrows. I do love them, but the woman who worked on my nails was horrible. I only had the pedicure done, and not even with the french tip. I chose a bright pink color. The woman who painted them on my nails was horrible. The color was not uniform. The shape of my toes were not pleasing. The wait was horrible. I can mark this horrible experience up for them being too busy on a Saturday's afternoon. But we did make the appointment and even if they were busy, they should have treated us with a little bit of respect. read more

I'm a regular customer at the salon and am usually satisfied with their service - despite their slightly higher pricing. However, I was more than disappointed and even frustrated with their service this time. The place was packed with customers today and the overall service today was below average. I got my pedi/mani as usual- and while I was getting my rushed pedicure service done, the lady that did my mani last time (Heidi) came over and told me she undercharged me $5 last time and that she needs to charge me $5 additional for that reason.... ummm.. ok- I didn't even realize that she undercharged me but it wouldn't make sense for you to charge additional $5 of service all of the sudden claiming that you undercharged me without any constructive evidence. Then I got even more upset when I got my nails done - when they didn't even fully remove my gel nails (which they always charge additional $5 for) and started applying nail polish on top of my nails that still had layers of gel left......... Positives: staff is extremely friendly and I've never had to wait for a mani/pedi. The staff is professional and attentative to your needs. Cons: I think they need to shut the place down and re do the entire store. The inside looks "dirty." Maybe they are super clean, who knows. It's just when you walk in, the store is cluttered and old looking. They also need a better selection of nail polish. Perhaps some better brands. Nails: my nails always look okay. I've never been overly impressed and my regular nail polish always chips after a few hours. The prices are decent - a little expensive however, they seem comparable to the other nails salons in the area. Overall, I'm not a nail snob - I work with my hands a lot therefore I think it's important to have nice looking nails. That is why I have continued to come back year after year. After my horrible expieriences with several nail salons in Fairfax, I stopped getting my nails done for about 6 months. Then today I saw my friends nails(acrylic) and they looked perfect so I asked her where she got them done. She told me she got them done by Lily at Beyond Nails. I quickly put in a reservation and I went in. She honestly was the most patient nail technician I have ever went to and she took so much time into getting my nails the way I wanted them to be. The prices are very cheap compared to other nail shops and the work that is done is perfect. Im so glad I found a nail salon I could depend on. Only ok. Came here for a pedicure and was taken right away. The nail file had been used on probably 30 other feet before mine and I immediately wished I'd brought my own. Nail color selection consists of mainly reds and pinks. They do use a shaver on your feet but she avoided my heels when that's what really needed the most work, so I asked her 4 or 5 times to go back over them. She was very careful but there was no exfoliation whatsoever. While there was a foot pumice, she ran it over my feet as you would a washcloth. There was no massage, no cream exfoliator and no hot cloth. As I was getting serviced, a woman with terrible obvious toenail fungus and a large open sore on her big toe sat down a few seats from me. She loudly talked about her sores (I could only see the one) and the fungus and told the tech to be careful several times. She got serviced with tools that were not in any kind of barbicide and then the same tools were used on a little girl after without any sterilization. Maybe I went at a bad time and they were tired and didn't care, but this was not a clean experience by any means and I doused my feet in rubbing alcohol and removed the polish immediately when I got home. I won't be going back; foot fungus and other diseases are real and they don't go away and are very difficult to treat. Be warned. They also only take cash tip, a fact I didn't see advertised anywhere. read more

My biggest mistake with this place? Letting them know that I'm Vietnamese. Last weekend I went in for a manicure and a pedicure. I also had my girlfriend with me. We also wanted our eyebrows and upper lips waxed. I made an appointment for 4 pm on a Saturday (mistake number two), we showed up, Cindy (the person I requested for) was running late. We waited for 10 minutes before we were seated in the pedicure seats. After 10 minutes of soaking our feet, the waxing room was free, Cindy had us jump out to get our eyebrows and upper lips done, just in case it gets booked again. She's great with my eyebrows, but I wasn't happy about having to put my sandals back on just to get my eyebrows done. Okay, waxing completed. My friend had to sit and continued soaking for another 10 minutes before someone started working on her. Five minutes before my french pedicure was completed, Cindy's next appointment showed up (5 pm), I wasn't even done with my pedicure and still have my manicure to do! The manager of the shop basically kicked us out, "those two are Vietnamese, they'll understand if we have to ask them to come back" was what she said. I was so upset. Not only were our pedicures rushed and horribly done, we were being told to leave! UGH I was annoyed! Cindy is great, and so is the price, but I'm not going to be pushed aside for another customer! Not only did we have to leave, but they charged us FULL manicure price instead of the manicure/pedicure package price! My girlfriend's toes looked like they were done by a five year old and my french (sorry Cindy) wasn't straight at all! I will come back (just because of Cindy) but not mid day Saturday. read more
