On a recent visit, the clerk accidentally dropped the bottle of wine I was purchasing. When I calmly asked for a replacement, the interaction became tense and argumentative instead of being resolved quickly. What should have been a simple correction escalated in a way that left me uncomfortable. Mistakes happen and bottles get dropped, so it should have been a non-issue. Just give me a replacement and the situation is resolved. Because of that experience, I won't be returning. It's a shame because it's a nice store, but customer service is important to me, and this one didn't sit well with me.

When my wife came down with me to this liquor store, the clerk, up this point, very nice, rang us up. 13 and change. I presented the 13 and looked through my wife's purse for the change. It was at this point that the clerk took things to a rude and strange place. He said, " Why don't you take this outside." There was no one behind us in line beyond a gentleman who, dog at his side, warned, "He bites, I'll wait outside." I said just a moment, we almost have it. He said derisively "take it outside, carrying around everything you own." "Excuse me," I said, "we are paying a lot of money for a place up there," pointing to the hills. He ignored me and continued insulting my wife saying, "good luck out there" she said, "you too," to which he said directly, "unlike yall I have a place, good luck on the streets." I just want to say, we were dressed not in formal wear (lol) but in designer clothes, Rick Owen's shoes and jacket, Raf Simon's shirt, Casablanca sweatshirt, Yamamoto jacket. But if we weren't, we didn't need to be treated with such disrespect from a shopkeeper in what we knew could be a bourgeoisie village, confirming our suspicions. Instead of giving out money to the shops around here, we will take out business elsewhere. 2 stars instead of the 1 because they did have the cigarettes we wanted.

I am not an expert on the subject but would think selling fraudulent products is an illegal practice and something I would never expect when shopping in my beautiful hometown of Walnut Creek. After purchasing the pods my boyfriend opened them and put one in to use because the outside of the package is basically identical to the authentic Juul packaging and we had no suspicion whatsoever. The taste was WAY off and it began leaking almost immediately. It didn't take much of an investigation to figure out we bought a fake product meant to deceive customers into believing they were buying a trusted product. Not only was the taste completely different, there were differences in the inner packaging, the contents of the fake mango Juul pods were a dark brown color (normally almost clear) and the pods had a very minute difference in shape. We have not used these leaky, gross tasting, and potentially untested/ unsafe pods. This puts us out $30 and feeling like we were scammed. *I have never written less than a 5 star review* and honestly hate to write bad reviews but this really scared me and I hope to prevent others from this experience.

They now have a cool new automated Lottery machine which contain the hottest scratchers and also a machine that will let you play the lotto either your own numbers or a quick pick. (Cash Only no debit) You can get your sodas, snacks and beer here and then go across the street to the mexican mini super market and get pupusas or tacos. And finally end it with delicious donuts all in the same general area. The parking lot seems to have been newly paved as of late. But the City Of Hayward was busy paving Winton road a couple weeks ago , had to walk up Meek and then a left at the 3 way cross walk temporarily to get there which is no problem since I am brainstorming extra ways to get in my maximum walk time during my lunch breaks or weekends. Overall this still is a nice store to shop at with it being very clean and up front about pricing on many items. Side note - Yelp has incorrect hours for the business which I hope they update as they very much are open on the weekends and the listings here said they are open 24 hours during the week days and closed during the weekend. Not true since many liquor store establishments for the most part around here close at 11 to 11:30 at the very latest. And many liquor stores around here open at least 9:30 but many stores are family owned so they can choose their hours.
