I stopped coming to Bevmo years (maybe even more than a decade) ago since Total Wines opened up. See, I'm a beer girl and in comparison, my brand is far cheaper at TW, so really, that's my go-to. But once in a while, I find myself back at one of these joints for one particular reason: buy one bottle of wine, get one for $0.05. No, I don't drink wine, but Hubbers and Mom do, so I came through only for that reason. I found exactly what they wanted almost immediately after I walked in, but I took the time to walk around a little bit. This place couldn't be more organized. I didn't see a single clutter anywhere. Came back around and picked up 8 bottles for the bargain price of forty and change. Now, that's a steal. I'd most likely return when this campaign runs again and/or when they have more competitive prices with my choice of libation. read more

This is the second time we come here and they don't have what we're looking for. We wanted a 1942 Don Julio. They had 1 last bottle left my husband had the worker set it aside, placed it in the front to cash out. Not sure what mix up happened, when my husband when to pay for it, the cashier had sold it to another customer. This was all within 30 mins, 25 spent waiting to get help. We were not happy. YES it was the holidays but you can't be this disorganized. Fast forward to this year. We thought we'd go buy some wine and bottles for Christmas. My husband asked if they had Don Julio Anejo. The woman told him she'd have to get someone else to open "the vault". He waited and finally another worker came to tell him they were all out. My husband asked if they had Don Julio 70. Unfortunately they were also out. This is BEVMO how are you out of items. Better off going to supermarket. read more

Everything is good about this BevMo location, from the private parking lot (in Manhattan beach!) to the extremely helpful staff. Their champagne selection (even spilts!) is pretty phenomenal. Worst customer service ever!!!!! All the alcohol-free beverages are integrated with all of the alcohol it resembles. That alone is problematic for those who choose to grab alcohol-free drinks without having to hide and seek them among their alcohol counterparts. Worse than that, the customer service is AWFUL!!!! I asked to provide some friendly feedback to suggest that they consider having a spirit-free section, and after ignoring me, the manager shrugged his shoulders and said they didn't have it that way because they had too much product. That's crazy logic! I planned to buy a large inventory for New Year's Eve, and I immediately spun on my heels out of the store empty handed. Great location. Plenty of parking. Reasonable prices. I have been coming here for years now. Awesome service. Plenty of stock on all items. I love that they have a smaller store but surprisingly always well stocked. I recently purchased some kegs for events here and it comes in great handy when dealing with everything that it comes with. If you have bucket/tub and a pump you'll save some cash for sure. There's also I a deposit that will be returned once the keg is delivered back. I recommend you getting a pump and tubs on your own if it's something you plan to have often. The beer selection is quite great and I have that they have different beers in the cold section so it makes me want to try different ones. There's plenty of extras that they also sell here. Glasses, soft drinks, chasers, cups, gifts, etc. One stop shop. The wines have to be my favorite especially when they have selected bottles for the 5¢ sale. Purchase any selected bottle and the next one is only 5 cents! I mean how does that even make sense. I don't care I just stock up on wine! read more

I wanted to highlight and shout JENNY or JENNIE (sorry for the misspelling) she helped me out a couple weeks ago trying to find one of my favorite whiskey bottle Howlers head. She went out of her way to find them and as far as going in the back to check if they still had some. She was able to find the bottle! The BevMo in Manhattan Beach has some of the worse customer service. When you ask for help your treated like you are bothering them. Some cashiers don't say thank you after your purchase and there is no order when getting in line. You go down the street to Trader Joe's (because you've been treated so bad at BevMo) and it's like a breathe of fresh air. I know there is value going to BevMo but they need to really work on their customer service. Until then, I'll be going to Total Wine. I know BevMo is a chain and offers really great deals including the 2nd bottle of wine for 5 cents, but is that a reason to have such poor customer service. There are a handful of employees who smile and seem friendly. However, there are more employees that never say hi (as you are purchasing your items) and may not even make eye contact. You are made to feel like they are doing you a favor by making a purchase. It's unfortunate that the Manhattan Beach location behaves in such a fashion. read more

The employee with long black hair & glasses is transphobic. Purposely misgendered my friend who was with us in the store. Have been coming to Bevmo's for years, never had an issue like I had here. 3 people all over the age of 21 (25, 27, and 30). We were denied the ability to purchase because it was assumed we were underage or providing alcohol for someone underage. Im pretty sure the employee who decided this just felt she was entitled to enforce her own rules. Lucky for her we are all over 21 and were purchasing 1 bottle of Kettle One in order to make drinks for our dinner party. There are no signs posted stating no one under 21 is allowed in the store (I mean they sell candy, snacks, and non alcoholic beverages). So was very disappointed to be denied service & to experience aggressive transphobia. Would recommend going to another location, or the Ralphs up the street! How about stomping ground? Wait, let me see if I can find something. Okay, I found that much of Manhattan Beach used to be sand dunes. I doubt that it came this far inland, but I'm gonna include this info because I found it interesting. Check this out. "Much of Manhattan Beach was once sand dunes. During the 1920s and 1930s some of that sand was shipped to Waikiki, Hawaii to convert their reef and rock beach into a sandy beach. Some of the sand was also used to build the Los Angeles Coliseum and portions of Pacific Coast Highway." So anyway, good parking, clean store, really nice selection, always a good sale going on and well, there you have it. read more

The prices are reasonable, there are always sales going on, and best of all, the customer service here ROCKS! Did I say that the customer service here ROCKS?!?! It does. There are always at least 3-4 employees on the floor greeting you, helping to answer questions, and offering suggestions! One of the best BevMo's I've been to. I never thought I'd find myself going back to BevMo, since I usually go to Trader Joe's. But even then that gets boring. I'll never leave TJ's, but it's nice to have back up alternative now and then. Anyhow, I noticed that their selection has gotten better. There's a beer we like, that most of the vendors stopped selling or buying locally (I imagine San Diego proudly sells it). Again, I'm a Hefe person, so it's one of those. This BevMo is huge, it's easy to maneuver your way in and find what you want right away. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Even on New Years Eve, the mother lode of days (actually it was 8pm when we went) to not go. Parking was crazy, lines were long. And yet it was by far a pleasant experience, for being last minute. Plus, they had many decent 5 cent wine sales. I still have a couple bottles from that day (it was 5 cent sale, what can I say?). One note on the parking, until a new business moves in next door, it's a vacant Fresh and Easy, so lots of parking for now. read more

BevMo in Manhattan Beach was the perfect beverage store, it was a delight to go in. Since they've changed it it feels like an unorganized warehouse that is somehow out of stock of half the things I went in for. The layout made so much sense before, super easy to find everything, now it's just annoying. To be clear, I'm not a long time shopper of this store, have lived in the area a little more than a year, but immediately noticed how well the store was planned out my first time. Change is inevitable, but changing and making it worse is just plain stupid. read more

I've been to other BevMo.s before. Usually just to tag along with mama. We came by for some magical elixirs for NYE. I'm not a big fan of shmancy beers or shmancy drinks. My beer of choice is cheap. But, this was a special occassion so I decided to go bawls out. I picked up a bottle of Duvel. I've had it before and it definitely wasn't the price they were charging here. Actually, it was almost 50% off here. Awesome. I also picked up some Shock Top. Both of which I've had on a couple differentl occassion. The prior being purchased for me since it definitely does not fit in my "cheap" category. Sue me. Mama picked up some limoncello and a couple champagnes/sparking wines. All for great prices. The store is easily accessible. The layout allows for quick turnarounds. The parking situation outside is not very conducive to an expeditious exit. Limited parking, at least for a day like NYE. I'm sure not as bad the rest of the year. It was like Walmart on black friday. Cool spot. read more

I've developed pretty strong feelings for BevMo! over the last several months, of the almost romantic, "where have you been all my life" variety. I still like to visit cool non-chain liquor stores, too, but for a party, BevMo! is an amazing time-saving one-stop shop. Matt B. and I organized a bachelor/bachelorette party this past weekend for our friends Bret H. and FeiFei J., and we stopped by BevMo! on our way down to La Jolla to pick up booze for the rental house. We wanted to buy gin, bourbon, lemon juice, and about four dozen beers, and we were able to Supermarket Sweep that shit within like ten minutes, with some packaged snacks on top. The selection was extensive, and everything was easy to find. We needed to be pointed toward the lemon juice (the kind in the fake lemons, because who can be bothered to juice lemons for ten people?) and the people who worked here were friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable and check-out was fast. Only complaint is that I wanted to pee before the long car trip, and the bathroom was gross. There was a tiny turd floating in the toilet, which felt like a huge betrayal from my beloved BevMo! I guess you can't force all your patrons to flush twice, but perhaps a better toilet or more frequent maintenance would have prevented this unfortunate situation. I'm still a fan, though, as I usually go to BevMo! to shop for alcohol rather than to pee. read more

I am thoroughly impressed with this shop. From the variety of wine and beer, to the selections of cheese and salami, and to cigars. Plus the aisles are wide (because there is nothing worse then people turning around in aisles or passing others and accidentally knocking over wine). This is the worst wine store I have ever been in... Any grocery store in Southern California is 1000 times better than this dury bottle of wine is covered in dust in the isles, and the majority are at least two years old including the white wines. The help, if you want to call them that, or anything but helpful, not sure any of them even drink wine. Tried to buy liquor and margarita items to end the night with my husband but I forgot my ID so I had him go inside since he had his. They refused to sell liquor to my ADULT husband since I didn't have my ID on hand which doesn't make sense. Went to another BevMo location and had no issue with selling us the drinks. I'm a fan of BevMo. I've visited many locations and I don't remember ever having problems. I live in downtown L.A. so this location is not my closest. However, I've been spending some time in Manhattan Beach and I pop in here on occasion. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. This particular location has had a few things that BevMo near L.A. did not have in stock. I picked up a few 6 packs of Dixie Beer for a friend's crawfish boil. Recently, a friend told me about Franciacorta (a sparkling wine produced in the Lombardy region of northern Italy). I wanted to try it and found (by checking on-line) that this location had a few bottles available. It was late and I wasn't sure if I could make the drive to Manhattan Beach before closing. I was hoping that this wasn't one of those shops that close early when they can. I pulled in the parking lot and my clock said 8:57pm. I walked up and the door opened :) The cashier smiled and said "good evening, can I help you with anything?" He directed me to the sparkling wines. Operating a business during posted business hours shouldn't be that big of a thing BUT IT IS. Sadly, I find many businesses close a few minutes early or the employees get annoyed if you enter near closing time. I'm impressed that the employees here were friendly and helpful even with last minute shoppers like myself (and a few people that came in after me). read more
