We were in a hurry to pick up some items as an emergency for dinner party that needed more "stuff" . Called up the store around 8:20 pm, found out they close at 9 pm and jumped into the car to get there at 8:45 pm. First walked in... no greeting but , "we are closing in 15 minutes." At the aisle , I quickly gathered what I needed since I was there earlier in the day while Katrina came by reminded me twice that BevMo is closing by 9 pm and I need to ring you up . "Yes, I know " At 8:52 at cash register... Man says I needed to wait for Katrina to ring me up . 8:55 pm Katrina says: "You need to get to me before because I don't need to be ringing you up before closing. You should come earlier in the day . You should come back tomorrow . You should come back another day etc.." Btw, I was helping her organize my purchases on the counter to get rung up, bagging my stuff etc.. With all that talking from her, I still got out at 9:02. Some other customers behind me also needed to be rung up. Not happy. I never had such bad customer service. Upper management should take a close look at their staff. If there are people in the store shopping before 9 pm closing hours, they should be able to finish their purchase and not be harassed when they are trying to pay. They should not be told to "come back tomorrow " etc... Wow... read more

This place is a mess, a lot of expired products. I bought some alcohol and snacks there, some of their snacks are expired. I told the manager there are a lot of expired products, he said it's ok still edible. I can't believe it, I've seen workers take down expired snacks to throw away. I don't recommend coming to this bevmo, even though some workers know their stuff around the store. There are even candies from the holidays on the clearance rack for sale. Placed an online order today. It was supposed to be delivered within 30 minutes. A driver was assigned to pick up my order then suddenly the name of the driver changed. Then it just said the order was packed out and there was no driver. An hour after I ordered, I reached out to customer service. They said it was on the way and I should have it in 15-20 minutes. Another half hour passed and I called the store as it showed that it had not been picked up. The girl that helped me (her name started with an M) was very kind and said she'd call her boss to find out how to help me. She called me back right away and said he would call the third party to get my order delivered. She again apologized for the trouble. A new driver was assigned right after, but then they too disappeared. After 2 1/2 hours, I had to chat with customer service again for 25 minutes only to be told I have to call the store. I told them to cancel my order and refund my money. As a courtesy I called the store to advise of what happened and they could just restock my items. The man who answered the phone was short with me and rude. All he said was ok, sat there for about a minute, then said is that it? I said yes and he literally just hung up the phone. Didn't apologize, didn't say goodbye, nothing. I wasn't rude or disrespectful. So needless to say, Total Wine will now get all of my business. read more

I'm down in Burlingame 3-4 times a year to get my Subaru serviced (long story). While the car is in the shop, I spend the intervening hours wandering up and down the nearest main avenue. That might include stopping at Copenhagen Bakery for coffee and a scone, stopping at Bay Area Bagels (boiled), looking for empty cigar boxes at Burlingame Tobacconists, picking up supplies at Walgreens, and shopping for brandy, wine, or beer at BevMo. It's a visit of convenience as normally I'd shop for adult beverages closer to home. And it carries everything I need. Last Saturday it was Brandy (to go with the egg nog) and a few months ago it was wine. Next time depends on the supply at home. read more

If I were to rate this location on variety alone I would undoubtedly give it 5 stars. The prices that I've come to expect from BevMo! Vs this locations pricing however is the reason for the 4 star rating. I didn't find the prices to be any more competitive than my local Safeway for various spirits. If you're going for a common brand like white claw this is not the place I would suggest. However, if you're going to try new and unique brands then this is the place for you! To be honest I haven't been the biggest fan of BevMo! In the past, just because the best beers were never in the fridge. Since the covid-19 began, I've been there 3 times now and so far had great service all 3 times. The online ordering is pretty simple and now that they are well staffed and understand the operations, I could order and pick up within an hour or two. In addition, the buy one get one 5 cent deal is pretty amazing. Really allows you to try a multitude of wines for a relatively low cost. I'm not a wine snob so anything cheap that's also tasty is good with me. This time around, I ordered my low cal beer (wowza - which is quite good) and thought I'd get a whisky. Most of their whisky was discounted so I opted for the Templeton rye 4-year. Turns out they were out of stock so they replaced it with the 6-year for the same price at $28.99. Great deal. Happy to keep coming here in the future for wine and other booze. read more

Made an online purchase a few weeks ago, then picked up my order at the Burlingame location. Having lived nearby, I knew exactly where the store was located and had experienced nothing but good things in previous visits. Here's the lowdown on why I'd recommend going elsewhere: 1) Parking stinks! Even if Burlingame Ave wasn't torn to shreds (they're in the final stages of a street improvement projects), there used to be ample complimentary parking behind the store for BevMo customers. Not anymore, this lot has been converted into metered parking, which there never seems to be an open meter available! There's also a valet only service for customers in this shopping center, but not sure if BevMo customers can use it? $20 if you don't have a validated ticket. 2) Service wasn't great. I ordered a case and a half of sparkling wine for an upcoming party. The cashier acted like it was a huge deal to reward my BevMo customer card after I had already paid online. No one offered to help me to my car, either! 3) Getting large, heavy orders into your car blows! There are shopping carts for customers to use, but the wheels are disarmed after you move past the parking lot. Remember? The one where there's no spaces or $20 valet? That means people parked on the street have to abandon their cart and haul heavy items to their car parked on the street near the back lot. Not fun! For big orders, BevMo offers great deals (5 cent wine sale, anyone?), but this particular location isn't conducive to accommodating more than a few bottles at a time. Go to San Mateo or Redwood City if you're having a party and want to take a few cases home. read more

The way to get to my Lovie's heart is not by food by any means. It's by beer. Any kind shall suffice. Just get that fizz to his lips and he's a happy camper. So I asked him, "What do you want for your birthday this year?" His response: "All I want is a keg. Not even a full one. Just a half or even a quarter. That's all I want." So my friends and I head over to this BevMo before heading over to get the coveted present. I had reserved a quarter keg of Coors Light in advance. All I had to do is pick it up and pay. Breakdown of the cost: quarter keg of beer itself: $69.99 Keg rental deposit: $50 tap rental: $30 tub rental: $15 cleaning fee: $9 Plus taxes, this bad boy sent me over 200 bucks. Luckily, I'll get my the deposit and rental fees back once we finish the keg. Even after a fun evening spent playing numerous games of beer pong, we still had less than half of a quarter keg left. Just in case you didn't know. Nectar in Burlingame has closed down. And how am I just learning this now? I have three cell phones, four email accounts, multiple fax machines and a twitter account and you are telling me that no one could have let me know that Nectar is no longer? I blame the fall of Nectar on Spain. If it weren't for them they would not have developed tapas which in turn would have not brought this phenomenon to the United States and ultimately opening a tapas bar right next door to Nectar. Too much competition and their cheap happy hour killed my favorite wine bar in Burlingame. Well I for one am happy that Switzerland beat Spain in the Copa Del Mundo today! Bevmo has moved into my neighborhood and I know this will not bode well for the smaller family run wine shops in and around Burlingame. I am one that always prefers to support small business and will do my part to keep shopping down the street. BUT! I gotta tell you, this Bevmo is one of the nicest I have stepped foot in. Plenty of space and some interesting inventory will keep this location on my booze radar. I (a white guy) was in there 30 mins. earlier and the manager, Christian, was very helpful to me. Seems very strange to me how he was so rude to my wife (Oriental Woman) even a few other women noticed his attitude and made comments to my wife that maybe he, The BevMo Manager, has a problem with women. I was looking to get some help buying bourbon for a friend's birthday and needed an explanation as to what the difference was between straight and rye bourbon. They were very helpful in their explanation and I decided on the Knob Creek rye whiskey. They also helped me track down a 22 oz bottle of Stone Drink By IPA that I was also looking for. Failing in this attempt I did however score many cool soft drinks. This place is a soda treasure trove. Things like Fentiman's Cherry Tree are the type of unusual score I covet. On the El Camino end of Burlingame ave, it sits very lightly trafficked but they do have a bevy of cool hard to find things, even stuff I wasn't looking for but recognize as finds. read more

Sorry to hear about David H's wife's experience. I didn't experience the same. The service was more than adequate on the several occasions I've shopped at this BevMo. Customer service representatives made suggestions and were generally friendly. This store is so far superior to the San Mateo location, it hard to believe they are the same chain. I know a lot of locals thought Burlingame Ave was an inappropriate place for a BevMo. Not sure why, everyone knows a housewife likes a bottle of wine just the rest of us.
