My SO had been wanting to try out their prime rib dinner for over a year now and we finally had the experience yesterday. We arrived a few minutes before 7pm and they were starting the night off with sparkling wine and strolled around the area finding seats. We sat at a table near the end and were surprised by the number of people here and how many tables you can fit. We met plenty of kind restaurant owners and it was a night to remember. We had multiple glasses of white wine and a few glasses of cabernet while graciously served with a classic wedge salad, scallop potatoes, cream of spinach and prime rib. The drinks were all top notch taste, the food was amazing and it was easily the best prime rib I had ever had. It was flavorful, juicy and easy to chew. Lastly, we were served vanilla ice cream with VSOP and strawberry slices. Great food, great company and I have learned many details about the local businesses in the area and all the different information regarding alcohol and drinks. read more

Sharing a physical space with Pape meats, Bacchus Wine is a convenient place to pick up a bottle of red to pair with whatever protein you're getting for your meal that night. While their wines are a little higher on the price scale, they have a small selection of $20 and under wine as well for the more frugal customer. You can also choose to do a wine tasting here if you wish, although there are only a couple of seats available to do so. read more

Pretty fun experience having wine tasting inside a butcher shop. Our four selection of wines were pretty good as always starting from something light to heavy. The gal was very friendly and offer second pours, she did not pressure any sales, which makes us feel very comfortable. The wine shop has some great selection not typical to the big box stores. They had wines for daily consumption to collector's favorites. While wine tasting, you can visit the butcher shop which also had great variations of meat. Only wish they have stools around the tasting table but perhaps don't want anyone lounging too long.... but overall, very fun and good concept inside the butcher shop. You can pick your best taste to pair with dinner selection from the butcher shop. read more

Decent selection in an awesome butcher shop. Definitely on the pricey side and lacking customer service. I stopped in to get a nice bottle of bourbon. I asked if they had any in stock, since it was the last place we purchased it. He said let me look it up. No none in stock. Sorry. I said any coming in? He said yes but I don't know when. I said cool. I'll check BevMo. They had it and $25 cheaper than I paid last time. No other recommendations were offered. I was the only one in the store. He wasn't busy. Intimate wine shop housing various vintage and makers, and unlike a warehouse atmosphere, this is a much more personalized experience, which I've vibed only vicariously since I don't drink. But they're housed along with Pape Meat/Seafood Market, of which I'm a massive fan and champion, lol. And because I go to Pape every single week, sometimes multiple times per week, I can't help but peek into the little cheese section, which though modest, is inviting. What I also appreciate is they have fresh baked French loaf baguette bread as well, till supplies run out. read more

This place is set inside of the extremely popular Pape Meat Co. butcher shop. I'm a whiskey drinker and they are geared towards high end liquor with some bottles costing several hundreds of dollars. I'm just happy I finally found a bottle of Blanton's Bourbon there for $120, and the salesman was very cool. read more

Bacchus is the best place in Millbrae to have a glass of wine. Danny is so knowledgeable about the wines and is attentive when you are ready for another glass of wine or need water or need more charcuterie options. The new heaters make the space even more comfortable. This is my favorite spot in Millbrae. read more

Quinton Jay donated one of their butcher demo & dinners for 10 to a charitable organization - It was auctioned off for a couple of thousand dollars, which was great for the charity! However, when it came time to redeeming the item, he simply didn't honor his commitment . Not only did he not honor it, but he and his assistant strung our group along for a good 1.5 months as we attempted to schedule a date until they just stopped answering emails. Who 'donates' to a charity and just backs out without explanation? Is that a business you really want to support, I sure don't. I would have at least expected the decency of an honest reply from him or his assistant. read more

I went here earlier today to get some steaks (which was not a part of my negative experience, the butchery is the only reason bacchus gets any business) and some wine. I ended up getting some beer and a $30 wine which is pretty inexpensive given their incredibly stuffy selection. When I tried to check out the real nightmare began. I was being "helped" by who I presume to be the owner of his over glorified moonshine shack. It took about 10 minutes for him to put my credit card through and couldn't been any slower. He barely apologized and demonstrated the antithesis of valuing a customer. I guarantee he would have had a better attitude if I was making a more expensive purchase because he apologized WAY MORE to customers behind me in line. Overall a really shady guy and a really shady business leaching off the best butcher shop on the peninsula read more

Had the most memorable birthday party here a few weeks ago. Quinton was very knowledgeable about his wine and throwing a successful party. Chef Daniel was easy to work with and his food was amazing. I wanted appetizers with an Asian flare and he did not disappoint. We gave them a budget and they tried to stay with in it as much as possible. We went a little over because our guests were having so much fun and stayed till the end. We under estimated how much our guests would consume. The wine choices that Quinton helped us chose were phenomenal! Over all, it was worth every penny and Quinton went above and beyond to work with us! Till this day, my guests are raving about the party my husband threw for me. One said that we set the bar high for 50th birthday parties. I highly recommend Quinton, Daniel, and all of their team. I wish I would've gotten the name of the young lady who helped me because she was extremely helpful and great to talk to. I had just flown into SFO and looking for a nearby wine shop with a good selection, sans box stores, and I came across Bacchus. I was also in a crumby mood because the Niners had just lost to the Panthers... Anyway, the shop shares a place with a butcher. The shop has a surprisingly great selection of wine. I'm a straight oenophile so pairing wine with food isn't a huge concern for me. I'll drink a bottle of Léoville Poyferré with a Big Mac, that's just how I get down! But for those where that may be a concern, they have their sections split for different types of proteins. Anyhow, the young lady recommended two great wines that had great price points. I mean, anyone can buy a hundred dollar bottle of wine and hope for the best, but a true victory is finding a TWENTY dollar bottle of wine and it BEING great! The first bottle was, Panther Creek Pinot Noir, from Willamette Valley, and the other was a Cab from Napa, ShyPoke. Interesting side note, I'm a wine club member at Turnbull (which I believe makes the best wine in napa for the price), and the Shypoke is made by the vintner at Turnbull. Quinton Jay is a bad sales person. He organized a whiskey tasting which he canceled last minute and offered to give me a sample of bourbon. His assistant gave me the wrong the bottle and then he demanded that I return the bottle which I already drank. After telling him that it he is adding to the already bad experience he wrote me email that I can keep the bottle free of charge. When I came to the Pape meat he jumped me and demanded that I pay for the bottle he already gifted to me. I highly recommend avoiding business with Bacchus and Quinton Jay. read more

I come in to pick up meats from Pape's once a week and I never seem to have time to check out the wine area of the store but yesterday I made to allocate time to get there earlier and I was not disappointed​! I worked with Jeanelle and she was so awesome! Very helpful and took her time working with me. I ended up walking out with 6 bottles of wine and signing up for their wine club - so excited! This is a new wine shop that will be alongside Pape Meats. Very exciting, as the Pape's are known for quality meats and now there will be a quality wine merchant in the same location! The store has an interesting way of presenting its wines. It's organized by "Beef" "Pork" "Chicken" and "Fish" to make it easy for the customer who has just bought meat from the Pape's to find the right wine to pair with their meal. These guys are really into wine and it shows! Their selection is smaller but they really know their products. It's more like a boutique - where you go for personalized service. On my last visit, they were pouring tastings of a higher-end wine using the Coravin device - it's unusual to be treated to something like that.
