I have referred Better Than Real in my business and always very satisfied. I finally had Jorge come and bid my project at my residence of approximately 1300 sq ft. If I knew this would transform my life as it has, I would have had it done much sooner! They replaced a gopher ridden, stickers and weed area. I have dogs that use this area as their main running space. I no longer spend an hour at night brushing stickers out of their fur and washing dirt from muddy paws! Jorge's crew had their challenges with my narrow, steep driveway and greenery but managed it with their truck without any problem. The crew arrived exactly on time. SO professional! Eight fabulous guys that worked together like a Swiss Watch precision crew! The project came out gorgeous, they cleaned every inch of space where they worked and after eight hours, I had a transformed front yard. Thank you to office manager, Gabriel , for keeping everything rolling, and owner Jorge and crew for making this a seamless start-to-finish project. read more

Working with Jorge was very easy. He was a pro from beginning to end. His crew were prompt, kept our place clean and did a great job. And all in one day! The grass really looks amazing. Neighbors like it too. Marin County is fortunate to have a great artificial grass provider who is tried and true. If you're thinking about saving water, making your landscape much easier to maintain, and ultimately saving $ then just hire these guys and get it done! read more

I generally do not write reviews but these guys deserve it. They are professional, and do an absolute perfect job when it comes to installing turf. Generally speed and quality do not align but they have mastered the art. I've seen plenty of installs from other companies and without looking to hard you can find the seams. When Better Than Real is doing the install it's impossible. As a contractor I use them for all of our turf projects as well as my own home. If you need turf installed, don't bother going anywhere else. read more

I was tired of dealing with a muddy, dead patch of lawn that was overgrown with hard-to-deal with crab grass, so Jorge came out to give us advice. Jorge suggested some realistic turf and design ideas. We went with a 3-hole putting green, turf surround and turf-wrapped bluestone slab stepping stones. It looks amazing! The crew was fast, got it done (small yard) in 1.5 days. Our dog loves it and the humans do too! read more

We recently moved into a new home with about an acre of yard, roughly half of it poorly cared for lawn. Jorge gave us a great bid, and had the best artificial turf samples. His crew was prompt, clean, efficient and very respectful of our space and time. it looks spectacular. all calls answered promptly, no hidden fees or "problems", just extremely hard working guys getting it done. Cannot recommend them highly enough. read more

Our experience with Better Than Real was fantastic. We reached out to four different companies and BTR was the first to come to our house for a quote, it was the owner Jorge. He gave us a very detailed explanation of our options, quote on the spot and a date when the job could be done. His crew finished our small yard in one day and we couldn't be happier with how it turned out. His crew was respectful, professional and friendly. Our dog loves it too! read more

Quick update: Our lawn area is about 750sqft. We were given about 5 samples of colors/textures to choose from. We selected Arizona Spring Green and love it! We solved our window reflection/heat issue by having an exterior shade/awning installed. Take note of where light/heat may hit your lawn from nearby windows. read more

NIGHT AND DAY!! I knew turf would make a huge difference, but this transformation was insane. I did my due diligence reaching out to different turf companies for both pricing and expertise. Jorge was so nice and friendly when we were getting a quote. Answered all my questions and even came back to our house again before we committed when we had additional questions. Also loved their turf options over others I considered in terms of color and feel. And was best for communication and price vs other vendors. Administration throughout the whole process was very organized and seamless. They ended up having an earlier opening from when we booked so we got the turf two weeks early!! Installation: 4 guys came and did this in ONE DAY. This was a very intricate and detailed job not only accessing the backyard but cutting out each piece of grass around the existing wood (see before photo where this was just gravel). They guys were great and did great cleaning everything up when the job was finished. We couldn't be happier and could not recommend them more! We are over the moon!! read more

This was one of the BEST experiences I could have hoped for! Jorge and his team did a fabulous job!!!

BTRAG, (Jorge and Gabriel) is a class 1 company! We had a 400+ SF area to do and unlike other companies that would have 1 or 2 people work on project that would take 3/4 days they had a group of 6 guys working all day to ensure the work got done in one day! They had 3 company owned trucks haul dirt/rocks away, bring base rock and all their equipment! Even had their own portable potty! This was our second project they did and i would recommend them all day long! Prices are very competitive too so that was a BIG plus! Have them work on your turf needs! You wont be disappointed!! read more

Better Than Real installed artificial turf in our backyard in San Francisco yesterday, and we had a very positive experience. The crew was hardworking, responsive to feedback, and did a great job. We have resisted the idea of artificial grass for 12 years, fighting against nature and reality to try to get an 1,100 sqft lawn to stay alive and healthy beneath a redwood canopy. After several friends told us great things about Jorge and his team at Better Than Real, we finally went for it. First, they are extremely professional and reliable, they show up on time, and their bidding process is simple and straightforward. They were able to start our project just days after signing the contract, and they did the entire project in just 3 workdays including their standard process of removing the old lawn, digging down 3", replacing it with based (which they compact with a machine), laying down gopher wire, and then installing the grass. When Jorge came by today for the final walkthrough, he asked me to try to find the seams (the grass comes in 15' wide rolls), but it was impossible to find them. The actual grass product has come a long way in recent years: we went with "Royal," one of their best sellers, which has great color (rich green on top, and brown down toward the "roots" to emulate real grass) and feels comfortable on bare feet/legs. I'm just so happy to look out the window and see a gorgeous, pristine yard that requires no precious water. In conclusion, we are very happy, and I can't wait to give away my lawn mower. read more

Had 160 sq ft of dead turf replaced with artificial grass on 8/19/2021. Guys were on time, did a great installation job (turf tear out, grading, granite layer and tamping it down, framing area with bender board for nailing turf into, installing 2 seams (they are invisible!), raking in the sand and then cleaning up. Only took 3 hours (but the area is pretty small). $15/sq ft quoted which was within range of 2 other quotes I got (except for one at $28/sq ft which was discarded). Highly recommend. read more

I don't think I could write a better review than the many that have already been written so let me just say that this company and the installers are fantastic! My family and I marvel at our beautiful new lawn/turf daily. Excellent pricing, fantastically detailed workmanship, and wonderful communication. A crew of about six guys showed up and had the job finished in one day. They all went above and beyond and completely exceeded my expectations. (What an excellent, nice, helpful, fun crew you have Jorge! Thank you all). read more

Jorge met with me to go over my small dog run project. Even though it is a tiny area (under 90 sq ft), he gave me all the time I needed. I had a couple of follow up questions which he responded to promptly. After getting two other quotes, I decided to go with him. Fortunately, he was able to fit my little job in quickly. The crew of three guys came on time. They were professional and respectful of my property and clearly new what they were doing. They had the old concrete patio jacked out and the area dug out in record time. I watched the whole process carefully because I need to know what is under the ground around my foundation! It took them about 7 hours. The site was spotless when they left. The 'grass' looks great and my dogs are happy. I would definitely use them again. read more

Great Service, Great Results This is the second time we have used Better Than Real Grass for artificial grass installation. The service is simply great and the result is impressive. Eight years ago we hired them for a small project. It has held up very well. This time they worked with us in two stages. That allowed us to have time to work on the fence and plants. That worked very well for our overall landscaping project. The owner Jorge is very professional and personal. He is flexible and will work with you. Gabriel he answer the phone every time. The workers are all very hardworking, especially Pedro, who makes sure the work is done correctly and the ground is cleaned and the customer is satisfied. There is another worker (sorry, I do not know his name) who communicates with me all the time. He let me know what is going to be done. Thanks so much and keep up the good work! read more

I rarely if ever right negative reviews, but Jorge was so rude, I feel like my experience should be public. The work that Better Than Real Artificial Grass did was excellent and the 7 workers who did the actual work were all great as well, but the owner, Jorge, was horrible. He was rude and confrontational, yelling at me that they were not going to replant the plants they were taking out. When I told him that it would have been helpful if he told me that in advance so I could have lined someone else up to to do it, he said he would take my deposit and leave. He basically yelled at me for 15 mins. I wanted to get him off of my property as fast as possible. Luckily the team that did the work were all wonderful. It is a shame that my experience was clouded by such a terrible manager/owner. read more

We bought nearly $2000 of artificial turf from this place for our landscaper to install. Upon unloading it, we discovered it was one foot shorter than what we had ordered and paid for. Unfortunately, this made it about 4 inches too short to cover our space. When I called the company to report the problem, Jorge drove out to inspect the issue (because he didn't believe me). He measured the turf several times - with a measuring tape, with a string line, again with a measuring tape - and kept saying it doesn't make sense because he measured it out this morning and it was correct. He did finally agree to replace it and (only reason for the two stars), he did have one of his guys drive out a new correctly sized roll. However, he never took responsibility, he never apologized. His measuring mistake was not only inconvenient (disrupted the middle of my work day for several hours to figure this out), but also cost me several hundred dollars in extra labor to have the landscaper stay late to complete the install. When I mentioned the extra costs and asked if he would consider a small discount/credit (to offset my increased costs as a direct result of his mistake), he got upset and said "I don't know what happened between when you picked it up and now!" and "I don't want to argue with you!" and that "If this is how you want to be then we don't have to replace it." Seriously? Like I would deliberately remove 8 inches of turf just to spite him?! Everyone makes mistakes and I am very forgiving of this. But not taking responsibility for your mistake and then turning the tables and making it seem like I'm the one at fault and he's doing me some huge favor is dishonest and unprofessional. I don't know if this is just how they treat all their customers but I do wonder if this is how he would have treated my husband. I would like to think this was a one off/ bad day thing but every aspect of my and our landscaper's interaction with this company was disappointing. The person who answered the phone when I first called to ask questions was grumpy and dismissive. They wouldn't let me place an order on the phone even with a credit card (in person only) and even the landscaper said they gave him attitude when he picked up the material. Also their website says the turf is American made but they confirmed on the phone that it's all made in China. Normally I wouldn't have ordered from such a place but a contractor friend and our landscaper had used the company before so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I would not buy from them again. And neither will my landscaper. read more

Just had artificial turf installed in my front yard. It is a large area, and quite the investment. We are very happy with the finished project. It took two days -- one for prep of the area and one to lay the turf. Both days were very long for the excellent crew that did the work. They were right on time to start, even after a one day rain delay. The prep was done to perfection and the clean up at the end of each day, was excellent. The second day the turf went down. Where day one was all physical labor, day two was the tedious hands and knees stretching, trimming and seaming the turf followed by adding the infill and lots of brooming and grooming to fluff. Included is a picture of the finished job. I highly recommend Jorge Jimenez and his crew. read more

I hired Better Than Real (BTR) based on a recommendation from my father and I am incredibly glad I did. Their thoroughness, attention to detail and expediency was incredible. Jorge runs a tight ship and it shows. The guys were also super friendly and asked questions during the process to confirm sure they were installing the way we wanted. I can't say enough about Jorge. We had a hiccup in the timing for tree delivery (which the turf was waiting on) so he loaned me two guys and a truck to go pick up the trees ourselves and get them to the site so we could finish the project that day. He went above and beyond and for that I would recommend these guys all day. Only company we'll use going forward. read more

We are so pleased with our new artificial turf and so glad we chose Better Than Real Artificial Grass to install it in our front and backyard. We contacted several companies and acquired quotes. Better Than Real Artificial Grass are the only company that offered both gofer wire and fabric to prevent weeds and insure no gophers, moles or voles poked holes in lawn. We live in San Rafael and the grass in our back yard was toast. It would have taken an enormous amount of work and money to re-sod and keep the grass alive going forward. We booked an apt. with Jorge to understand the pros/cons and expenses associated with installing/maintaining artificial grass. He was thorough, transparent, and forthright about the process and expense. It was clear to us that installing artificial grass would be a great longterm investment for our home. A few weeks later, and 10 days earlier than originally anticipated, Jorge and his crew were available to start the project. The team showed up and completed the entire project in one day. Incredible. They communicated well leading up to the project and followed up to walk through a day later. The work speaks for itself. Four thumbs up and 5 stars! read more

We had the artifial turf put in 3 months ago. It is mashed down in large spots all over the yard.We don't have kids or a dog, we just basically go out to rack leaves, and we use the right kind of rack. I called to find out if we could do anything about it. The person on the phone shut me down, Just told me that is normal wear. We paid a lot of money to have this put in and he offered NO help. I'm so disappointed. I've seen other artificial grass that doesn't look like this. Another company suggested that they skimped on the infill sand?? Use somebody else! read more

We wanted a makeover of our back yard. It was mainly filled with dirt and weeds, with a pool and raised garden beds. We wanted to get some nice artificial grass for our kids to play on. We requested quotes from three companies, including Better Than Real (doing business as Rainbow Landscape). I got in touch with Jorge and he was extremely responsive and showed up when he said he was going to. He offered suggestions and was not pushy at all. We had an old buried concrete curb, which one company didn't want to touch. They originally scheduled us for two days to install. The first day was rained out, so they said they would bring an extra helpers for the second day. They were able to knock it out in one day. They were careful to lay out some tarp so as to protect our front pavers. They did a lot of the little things right too, including replacing our hose nozzle after using it. The only critiques would be to plug back in the pool pump plug (they used the outlet), and some of the workers left some minor trash in our front yard after their lunch. Their final price was very competitive and fair, and it was about $3000 less than another company. They seemed to have more samples to choose from than other companies as well. We would use them again in the future, and just may if we decide to replace the front lawn. read more
