My favorite place to come and get a cheesesteak since I've moved to this area. They have different varieties and different options and their wings are amazing. Their fries are amazing too. I go here maybe once every 2 to 3 months if you eat here every day you're going to gain a lot of weight the service is very fast and the ambience is very decent. Delicious sandwiches! My family and all enjoyed our Philly cheesesteaks. I had the henny cheesesteak and it was so delicious, the bread was soft and the meat was tasty. The cheese fries were decent, the fries at the bottom had a nice seasoning on it that the top was missing and we would've loved more cheese but it was decent. We came in 20 min before closing and we worried we'd have to take it to go as we stopped here on our way home and they were so nice they said we can sit and eat! Place was quite nothing special about inside of the restaurant. No real decor or anything. I got the plain cheesesteak with American cheese. It was either that or provolone. Steak was chopped up, nice tender, but definitely kind of light on the meat and not much care and making a sandwich considering there was nobody else there and didn't look like he was working on the other orders. I really wanted to like this place. But unfortunately, the cheesesteak wasn't that good. I'm not even sure they had cheese in it. It was the same as having a steak-umm from the freezer. There was almost no flavor to the beef, and the bread had no taste whatsoever and horrible texture. The place needs to be cleaned a little bit better. It didn't have a fun or friendly vibe. The staff was so helpful, friendly and polite; it made the experience much more enjoyable. The cashier was very attentive and made sure everything was perfect before handing me the order so I appreciate her professionalism! Their wings are also amazingly flavorful as well the sauce and glaze they make pairs so well with the crispy wings. Decent spot but it's a little ambitious to say it's better than cheesesteaks in Philly. It's ok/fine for the convenience if someone has a big craving for cheesesteaks (which I absolutely love). Part of a strip mall so parking is quite easy off Route 22. Cheesesteaks do at least look like the ones in Philly but some may quibble with how they taste compared to their favorites in Philadelphia. #1 The staff is worthy of better products to serve. Fountain drinks? Maybe it is the water source or piping. Tried three different drinks all had a lingering taste. Not one a good one. We stopped by for dinner last night. Pretty solid cheese steak. Got the standard one with onions and yellow cheese. The bread was soft and the sandwich over all was good. It came with fries and the portion was a little light, but they were the twice fried type and they were very good. The food is decent. Seasoned well and nice sized portions. My biggest concern is the cleanliness and care put into the preparation of the food. I watched them come from outside smoking cigarettes, to going back behind the counter to make food with one glove on. Ok so the food is ok. Not great but decent. I go back there every once and a while when enough time passes that I forget how bad the service is. This was before COVID as well. If you order on line hoping that you can show up and pick up and run forget it. They are always short staffed and overwhelmed. Perfect example is tonight. I ordered online , it told me to pick up in 20 minutes. I showed up after 25 minutes. Waited on line for 10 more only to be told "oh we just got your order it's going to be another 30 minutes" so here I sit let's see how this plays out. However, the bread is lackluster and appeared on the stale end. Parking is in the plaza so that's not a problem. The staff in the front were extemely patient and helpful. This is the first time we went here. The food is made to order and it is cooked to perfection. I ordered an Old School Italian Cheesesteak. It was fully loaded and flavorful. I've been going to Better Than Philly since they opened. It's definitely one of the better cheesesteak places in the area. What keeps me coming back is the wings. They are always fried perfectly and the sauces are great ! My only complaint is the last time I went in to pick up my order there was a terrible smell in the restaurant. It smelled like old grease. Food was waiting for me and a very nice woman greeted me. The food is amazing. The wings truly are fried perfectly and the cheesesteak is heaven. I've lived in the area of this place for almost 8 years and just found out about it maybe one month ago. They are located in Watchung Square Mall, underneath the overhang. The place is exceptionally clean and maintained. I was greeted when I walked in and was introduced to their extensive menu. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but I wanted to stick to what the sign says, 'Cheesesteaks and Wings', so I ordered just that. They offer wheat or white rolls. They offer steak, chicken, shrimp or a combo on any sandwich. They have a few different cheeses to choose from as well. I ordered the whole wheat cheesesteak with mozzarella, onions and ketchup. The roll was not crispy at all. It was fresh baked, warm, soft and incredible. I'm not a fan of crispy bread, so this was perfect. On a scale of 1-10, the cheesesteak was a 10. I could not have asked for a better lunch than what this team made me today. I also ordered chicken wings, which you can have doused in one of about 12 flavors. OK. Here's the deal. Just left about 45 minutes ago. Ordered the 2 Hennessy chicken cheesesteaks, large order of fries and large order of onion rings. I almost fainted when I heard the charge was almost $40. OK, so I quietly paid, got the order and left. Took me 45 minutes to get home due to traffic jam on Rt. 22. Got home and opened the order and was pleasantly surprised by the size of the sandwiches. I felt these sandwiches were made for someone the size of Shaquille O'Neal. The fries were standard and an afterthought. The onions were soggy as the coating came off when they were picked up with a fork. But the sandwiches saved the day. You see, I used to live 30 minutes from Philly and was raised on their cheesesteak sandwiches so I know a good sandwich when I taste one.
