I love trying new coffee shops on the weekends and the Better Buzz in San Diego has been sitting in my bookmarks for awhile so I was super stoked to see one opened close by! Being my first time coming here, I was hesitant on what to order but the menu was very clear and simple and I decided to go with the "best drink ever" and it definitely held up to its name. It is a perfect balance of coffee and cream and not overly sweet, 10/10. I also ordered the ham and cheese croissant and it was delicious! My only suggestion when ordering the croissant would be to ask it lightly toasted as I felt mine was a little too crunchy on the edges but other than that it was also a 10/10. My bf ordered the bacon ciabatta sandwich and the caramel buzz and he absolutely loved it! The service was great and the place was super clean. They have plenty of seating areas both indoor and outdoor. They also sell a variety of treats, merch, and coffee beans. I kind of wanted to by one of the hats upon walking through the front door but settled for the "Best Drink Ever" and the bathroom. There is a Better Buzz around the corner from my house so if I get hat regret I can grab one there. This tastes like a BB, feels like BB, but doesn't seem to run like one. I mean, this is by far the slowest location I've ever been to. No hustle, no bustle, and a very lean staff. Hey, I hate crowds as much as the next guy but there is something about the energy that you typically find at a BB that adds to the experience and it's lacking here. On top of that, it makes for a slower transaction with only one person taking orders and making the drinks. With a line of 5 people or more this would be the makings of a real mess. All this being said, I do like the Better Buzz "chain" but this particular one falls just a touch short of my typical 5-star experience. read more

I came here on the Fourth of July, so I want to thank the workers first and foremost! Not only are they working on a day when most people are off of work (which I, admittedly, would be annoyed about), but they were also friendly and receptive! An additional shoutout to the attendant at the drive-thru, because they asked how I spell my name, which I appreciate because it is often butchered when regurgitated. There were so many things on the menu that tempted me (namely in the rose and lavender variations), but I opted for the Conscious Chocolate smoothie because I am a sucker for anything with dark chocolate and/or banana. This smoothie was delicious and so worth the cocoa nibs getting stuck in my braces. I took my dog with me, so we didn't get to see the ambiance inside, but we went through the drive-thru and then parked and enjoyed the breeze coming from the shaded seating area outside. Overall, this was a really enjoyable experience, and my only disappointment is that I don't live closer so that I can come more often to try the other menu options! read more

I have only been through the drive thru here (about 6 times) and they are really efficient. There was only one time where the line was long and it actually took a long time. One of the times they had 2 gals outside taking orders from their tablets and it really got all of the cars through the line quickly. Better Buzz has quickly become one of my favorite spots! My pumpkin spice latte was absolutely perfect--rich, creamy, and just the right amount of spice. It's definitely my go-to drink for the season, but I will have to wait until next fall for it to return! They did acknowledge my presence and apologize for the wait, but there was only one person doing both the cashiering and the making of the order and he was a little bit behind from several customers coming in at the same time I ordered a hot Matcha, which was good. TL;DR: A lot of hit-and-miss drinks, but it's a decent spot for coffee if you're not a fan of Starbucks. I've found Better Buzz to be a decent substitute for Starbucks as I'm not really a fan of their uber bitter, burnt-tasting coffee, but it's not that much better, in my opinion. I've tried a handful of their drinks and some of them are fine, but some of them are a miss. For example, I had the Buzzed Mocha today and I don't plan on getting the drink again since it was literally chocolate overload. I'll admit, I have a sweet tooth, but that was just too much for me, especially in the morning. Some of their other drinks were not that great too, but I can't remember. However, some of their drinks are great, like the mint infused iced coffee, chai tea latte, cinnamon cream cold brew, etc. I feel like if some of these recipes would be reworked, they could be better. I haven't had any problem with the staff; they've been really nice and welcoming. However, one issue that either I or my friend have come across is inconsistencies in making the drinks. Some days the drinks will taste fine, but other days the drinks won't really taste that good. Maybe because they were new baristas in training? Can't say for sure. Another issue that we've come across is that the drinks won't be filled all the way when we never specified to leave room at the top. I'll continue to support Better Buzz as most of their drinks aren't bad, but I just wish some of the drinks were better. read more

I was previously very critical of this Better Buzz location. But, I am very pleased to say that I have tried it again and happy that I did. I could make several assumptions about why the service has gotten better, but assumptions are not always right. I have noticed one thing. The staff at the location has changed like a rotating door, with one exception, Ernie. So without assumption I am making an observation of fact. Ernie is the constant at this location and the reason for the change. I noticed the managers have changed as frequently as the employees have at this location. Again, the constant in that is Ernie. Better Buzz, please take note, you have a good loyal employee with a great mindset who should be the obvious leader at this location. read more

So happy that they opened a location outside of San Diego county! I went twice during grand opening week in the fall. It's great that they have the option of drive-thru or walk-in, with seating area inside if you want to study or do work. Since the drive-thru was packed during opening week, we opted to park and walk in. There's plenty of parking in the huge plaza. They have a cute merchandise, apparel, and coffee bean section on the right side while you wait in line. The baristas are very friendly. There's 2 size options (regular or large), you have the option of iced or hot drinks, sometimes there's also the option of blended (buzz), you can add extra shots, modify the sweetness or milk option, and they also have food, including açaí bowls, avocado toast, sandwich, & pastries/baked goods! My favorite drink is the Best Drink Ever. I also love their Peppermint Matcha during the holiday season. I love how they have seasonal drink offerings during each season.
