The Giant double bacon cheeseburger and hot dogs are my favorites along with the breakfast biscuits. The tenderloin is actual pork tenderloin, not the fried hockey puck most places use. The barbecue and other platters are so much better than you'll find anywhere else. Onion rings are better than the fries though. Finish up with an ice cream cone and you're good to go. It used to be a drive-in, car-hop type joint that was enclosed to add a dining room with booths and tables. The food is okay but would not recommend eating here on the weekend. Hand pattied burgers really good, however they are SUPPOSED to be cooked to order. It's hard to believe a cold burger could have been cooked when I ordered it. Another review noted the lack of cleanliness - so true. Floors are nasty but the tables aren't sticky. Milkshakes are good. Sad. Lots of improvement could be made here. At least it's still better than most options in Troy. read more

The restaurant was cute, but dirty. The windows and tables and floors are dirty, the bathrooms are dirty, toilet wouldn't work. The burgers taste good but are tiny. The milk shakes are excellent!! I could not get help at the counter to even see if they had ketchup for our fries and onion rings. There were three people working and they were not busy. I was just there recently. It's been a stop when I get near Troy for years. This place is old school and has food you won't find much anywhere else, like a banana sandwich. I usually get the burger and a hot dog though. No one I've been with has ever complained. It isn't fast, but slow is good sometimes, especially in a small town. If you want great home cooked food, this is a terrific place. Do yourself a favor and bypass the Bojangles and McDonalds right across the street and come to Better Burger. I got the classic double cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo and small fries. Delicious! My husband had the pork loin biscuit. This restaurant is under New Management has a new owner than what it did in the years past. They had a few hiccups at first but now they're doing really really good and the food is great I love the breakfast one of the few places you can get sunny side up eggs. read more

Yes, I would recommend the Better Burger. It's a long time business w/ local owners. Love the Jeff's Burger w/ Cheddar cheese, & their Whitney Burger w/ Velveeta cheese, made w/ fresh ground beef daily & they make the patty as you order. Love their Fried Chicken Strip sandwiches. read more

Ate at Better Burger in Troy yesterday. Got food poisoning. Woke up at 2:00am with awful stomach pains and now can't be more then a few steps from the bathroom at any time and I am miserable. Called the restaurant and the owner had left by 10 am. Left a message explaining and asking the staff to call the owner and have them call right away. In the 40 minutes I've waited so far I've found they shut their reviews off 3 years ago (pre Covid!) for issues I saw at the restaurant yesterday. Owner did call me. Whitney Harris. She told me someone sent her my Facebook post so she called the restaurant and got my message. I heard about how it was the concert in Troy and that's why the restaurant was not clean. The concert was 2 hours after I was there. Google reviews says it's not clean often. I asked why they didn't call her when a customer suspected food poisoning. She told me they are only have kids working there. She also said she HEARD food poisoning takes 24 hours and they wear gloves to stop cross contamination. I didn't see any when I was there and other reviews aI heard it was a bad day yesterday. I heard many excuses. She kept wanting to explain why. I did not hear an apology or anything of the sort. She did offer to pull cameras to check and see if they wear gloves like they should. That's her fix for what happened yesterday. Not even a refund for a badly cooked meal was offered. I told her i was not happy with her lack of accountability and hung up. She called back. I told her to talk to the health department Monday. She said she would. You couldn't pay for my meal and have me eat Better Burger again. I'd also like to challenge her to turn her reviews on Facebook back on. read more

As a resident of Troy I've eaten at Better Burger on several occasions and I've had mixed experiences dining there. On the last 2 visits they didn't have what I originally wanted to order but I was happy to go with my second choice as well. The giant cheeseburger is delicious and the milkshakes never dissapoint but geez Louise they need to hire someone to clean that dining room properly! Such good food shouldn't be eaten in a dirty restaurant. There's nothing I've eaten there that wasn't good its mostly just cleanliness issues with me, but if you don't mind the dirt and grime its the perfect small town burger joint. read more

Went inside and had one customer ahead of me. The "cashier" was in no hurry to get to me. She was just chatting away to a family that looked like they just came off the set of Amish Mafia.
