He found a perfect-fit car for my college student son, got the dealer to nearly double what they would give in a trade in, lowered the cost of the new car by 15%, AND got them to include some upgrade repairs/maintenance even though it was listed as "AS-IS". My husband and I just worked with Gary at Better Auto Buying for the second time and we will NEVER buy a car without him again! For a really, really low flat fee, Gary finds out what you are looking for and then does all of the research for you. He really listens. He asked us about our needs, our wants, our costs, and our lifestyle. Then he came up with a list of cars for us to test drive, including cars we would never have thought of driving. He came with us on the test drives and was able to point out features of the cars and the drive that I never would have noticed. In fact, he has such strong relationships with many of the dealerships that they would just toss him the keys and let us go out on our own....allowing us to have frank and honest conversations outside of the hearing of a salesperson. Once we picked a car, he involved himself in the financial part of the deal also. He got us FAR more than our used car was worth (literally thousands more) and helped us to negotiate better terms for the monthly payments and the warranty. The easiest car buying experience I've ever had! I went in to this without knowing which type of car I wanted, or much about cars in general, and Gary offered knowledge and guidance without bias or pressure to go in any one direction. He is patient, kind, and easy going, and his relationship with dealers makes the daunting process of entering a dealership a breeze... you tell them you're with Gary and no one tries to pitch you! Even more impressive is that I was in the process of moving to California and he was able to negotiate an incredible deal at a CA dealership for a better rate than what I would have gotten in Chicago. I echo reviewer Beth's comments that I will never buy a car again without Gary's help. I found Gary through some family friends that had nothing but good things to say about him. I was moving to the suburbs and needed to buy a car. I had a few vehicles in mind, but Gary helped me expand the list to other cars that could also be a good fit. He also help me think through whether I should buy new or used and whether I should consider leasing. The biggest value Gary provided (at least for me) was he did all of the dirty work with the dealers - which included negotiating with three different dealers. The time and stress that Gary saved me was huge - I didn't have to talk to any of the dealers, just got a rundown from Gary of the best offers each could make. Gary also knew all of the tricks and questions to ask to find the best deal and the closest vehicle to what I wanted. The Audi dealer was particularly tough, because they had limited inventory that didn't match my preferred configuration - but Gary was able to find a good deal on a new 2016 that met my key requirements and came with a great financing deal (I would have only thought to look at the 2017 inventory). All in all - Gary not only saved me time and got me a great deal, but he made the car buying process easy and enjoyable. read more
