A friend of mine was had to downsize and move to assisted living. I told her I would find a moving company, and thought it would be a hassle. Amanda and her team moved my MIL into a care home, then when we were getting her home ready to sell, her team came to Ukiah to move out all the items we couldn't sell, and donated to a local business in Santa Rosa. They were professional, patient and careful moving items out of the house without scratching floors or the furniture. All four people who helped us move were efficient, cordial and hard working. They packed all carefully and nothing was broken upon arrival at our destination. I highly recommend Betsy and her moving company; she is an absolute delight, and she really understands the intricacies of moving! First of all, she's a bundle of wonderful energy and connects with everyone right away, especially elderly folks where moving is incredibly stressful. She's focused, task oriented, organized and CARES. Her staff is amazing! They clearly like working for her; they are so polite, respectful, hard working, flexible, understanding, accommodating and friendly. It was 93 degrees when we moved my Mother and it didn't appear to faze Betsy's staff. At one point we needed to move a huge bed just six inches over, after they had already set it up, it was on risers, which means they they had to take the whole thing down and move it, and their response was "not a problem!" and did it effortlessly. Not impressed with this company. I explained exactly what my move was going to be, detailed what was going to be moved and where. I was quoted 2 people at $120/hour with no minimum. How does a 2 hour, 17mile, pre-packed studio size move to a storage garage cost $533 dollars? Morning of the move, 3 people show up. I figured the 2 person quote still applied since 1 of these 3 was the owner, maybe she was there to supervise? After work had already begun, the owner showed me a different quote , which was for 3 movers at $185/hr. I was confused, but figured the move would be a lot faster with 3 people. It wasn't. One guy, Greg, worked the whole time. The other guy and the owner spent some time arguing with each other, first about equipment, then about where the equipment had been placed, then about how to pack the truck. It was unprofessional. The owner and the other guy took a few boxes down, and didn't come back upstairs much. They were MIA for periods of time. I thought they were loading the truck while Greg was carrying boxes downstairs, but when I went outside, all the boxes were on the sidewalk. I have no idea what they were doing. All I know is I was paying for three people to move my stuff and only one was actually moving anything. Halfway through the move, the owner put a blanket over the door frame to protect it. This should've been done in the beginning. The move took exactly two hours, 8am-10am, but I was also charged for an extra 45min to drive truck back to their port, which was in the same town as my drop off point. Incidentally, my pick up point and drop off point were only 17 miles apart. The only positive was Greg. He's a star and should start his own moving company. I'd hire him. I feel like I was taken advantage of. I got quotes from several other companies. I chose this company because I wanted to support a female run business. I wish I had chosen a different company. read more

We used Betsy today to move our mother from one assisted living to another. We gave her very little notice and her "can do" attitude was so reassuring during a very stressful time for us. They packed all our boxes from room she left so we didn't have to lift a finger and unpacked at the other end.The room we moved into was much smaller than the ones we left and Betsy tried moving furniture every which way till we got it to work She also knew all the rules for assisted living regarding distance between furniture and wall etc. The young men she had working with her were as professional and kind as could be working in a tight space and gladly moviNg furniture in and out of tHe room as we tried different arrangements. Betsy helped us move my husband's aunt and uncle. She and her crew swept in and got everything moved in just a couple of hours. While we were finishing up at the house, she moved everything in to their new place. And I mean everything! Sheets on the bed, clothes in the closets, towels hanging, and photos hung on the walls. Fantastic! What I realized only after the move was that her services were really a gift to us, the family. It was a wonderful for us to see how much our aunt and uncle loved their new house, furnished perfectly with their own things, and then a double bonus because we didn't have to lift a finger! Moving Matters is a great resource if you are a senior (or the loved one of a senior) who needs help moving. Betsy is really fantastic at taking the insurmountable and making it doable. She can help you sort through things, and she and her great crew pack things up, move them, unpack stuff on the other end, get rid of packing materials, everything. She is also familiar with many of the independent and assisted living facilities, and will scope them out for the move. The new apartment looked great when she got it all set up! Betsy has an amazing positive attitude that's infectious, and this helped keep me from setting my father's apartment on fire out of desperation. Her crew is friendly and efficient. I had high hopes but really skeptical after Moving Matters! The crew were very nice and packed our items well. But the experience was spoiled by the owner Betsy completely failed with the details of the move. She was curt and not friendly with our visitors. We really started to question her anxiety to gain as many items for goodwill as she could. Does she sell these items for extra profit or do they really go to goodwill? - guess we will never know. As for the detail of the pack, they packed items we said leave, items were sent that should have stayed, presents we wanted to give to our friends were packed for "goodwill" of Betsy. How disappointing! But we are too old and stressed to argue. Just want the Betsy nightmare to be over. Betsy was rude to our friends that visited us during the move when they dropped in to say goodbye, not understanding the personal turmoil we were all in. For our elderly group this was very unsatisfactory overall. At the per hour fee we felt we should have negotiated a final price and not let the clock run. In Santa Rosa, CA there are better companies that you can find that our friends advised us to use. We will we had in hindsight followed their advice. Betsy needs to learn customer service and to be polite to people. A smile goes a long way in life rather than snappy! On we go, just another learning experience in our life. read more

The two workers who did the job were skilled and pleasant. They protected everything in my home and the couch and armoire that were moved. Good honest business! I am the gardener and groundskeeper at a Santa Rosa apartment complex. These movers were assisting one of our tenants to move out of their unit. They did an expert job with the move, but the driver of the truck accidentally ran over one of our flower plots, leaving a deep tire trench. The driver, Justin, was incredibly apologetic and empathetic to the situation when I showed him what had happened. He promptly and politely offered to buy me some soil to make up for the damages. A few days later Kyle, the owner of the moving firm, delivered me 3 bags of high quality organic soil to fill in the tire trench. He even kindly offered to help fill it back in with me :) And if that wasn't enough, Justin came by later that night and dropped off 2 more bags of soil for me!!! What good people! I've always believed that a good honest business doesn't just make something right, they make it better than right. Moving Matters most certainly measured up to this by making it better than right.
