We were VERY anxious to select "just the right" preschool for our child. We scheduled 30min tours/interviews with several places. When we first walked in to BCP, I was immediately hit by a weird "day care" smell I didn't like. The first classrooms were a little tired, rather small, with few/no windows, and I was not impressed. I was ready to gracefully excuse ourselves and then we met the director Ms Dawn. Since I was already on the cool side to BCP, I really grilled her. We're talking questioning her methods, qualifications, future plans, the works (yes, I was probably a bit of a jerk. Sorry!). Our 30min tour turned into 2hrs and both of us came away thoroughly impressed. Ms Dawn's passion and enthusiasm is infectious, but not in an annoying rah-rah cheerleader way. She answered all of my questions patiently but thoroughly with no BS or hesitation. She has this very down-to-earth presence about her and the children LOVE her. She has assembled an impressive crew around her, both young and old, and she has the system carefully regimented into assigned teachers/helpers, timings, locations, etc. Ms Dawn has a steady plan for BCP and she is definitely on the path to success. BCP regularly sends home email communication about what the children have been learning and what they will be learning, what to work on with your children at home, and various updates like "today we successfully completed a fire drill" and "such-and-such special event will be taking place X." They have some sort of organic food thing where they periodically get a crate of random vegetables the kids get to explore, learn about, and then sample. BCP uses a fingerprint-based computer check-in/out procedure and the entire operation runs like a fine tuned machine. The best part is despite the smooth operation, the focus is obviously 100% on the children from start to finish. Ms Dawn patrols the entire campus daily encouraging and helping where ever she can. All the kids adore her and their teachers (Ms Dawn has to be careful when to pass through classrooms as the kids flock to her like a rock star). Ironically, when we went to our child's "open house" day we walked right past the entry classrooms that had turned me off and into an adjacent building's classrooms that were fresh and bright with huge windows! They need to start their tours there!!!
My daughter loves her teacher, she is socializing with the other children very well, and the entire experience has a gentle Christian influence to it all. So far I cannot recommend BCP enough. The best part is the price! Very affordable compared to other preschools. In fact, I fear that the good word about BCP will get out and they'll raise their rates. Maybe I should delete this positive review... :)
Note: after touring BCP we immediately toured another preschool. Its building was beautiful with large windows, air fresheners, and commercial quality posters/similar adorning all walls, but the director sloughed us off onto the admin who hurried us through a brief tour, answered our questions while only barely containing her boredom, and our scheduled 30min tour was over in less than 15min. BCP is definitely a cut above the rest! read more
